First, Ao Siqin controlled the long-range soul guidance device mounted on the mech, firing rhythmically at the fixed and moving targets provided by Saiwa. Once his control over the soul guidance device gradually stabilized, Ao Siqin proactively increased the difficulty of this training session.
"Saiwa, switch all targets to moving targets. Double the number, and have all targets approach me at different speeds."
Facing the increased number of targets, Ao Siqin calmly maintained stable firepower from the mech's long-range soul guidance device. At the same time, he routed his soul power through the storage soul guidance device at his waist. Under the cover of the light emitted by the long-range soul guidance device's firepower, a faint, inconspicuous flash of soul power passed by, and a dark-red composite bow appeared in Ao Siqin's left hand.
Holding the bow in his left hand and drawing the string with his right, Ao Siqin added precise point-shot archery to his offensive output. Maintaining this well-layered and rhythmic attack pattern, Ao Siqin successfully eliminated most of the targets in the opposite half of the arena. On the rare occasions when a straggler broke through to his vicinity, it was dealt with by Ao Siqin's close-range bow combat techniques.
In the final phase of the drill, Ao Siqin ordered Saiwa to launch random attacks against him with energy levels not exceeding forty-five levels of soul power. Facing these randomly generated attacks from Saiwa, Ao Siqin controlled the Flame Armor Shield and practiced his defensive techniques.
Before his soul power was exhausted (after entering the Virtual Combat Room, Saiwa could detect the user's total soul power and automatically simulate soul power consumption), Ao Siqin could be said to have demonstrated nearly all of his combat methods once.
After confirming that Saiwa had recorded all the combat data, Ao Siqin ended this forty-five-minute combat training session.
Reviewing the situation just now, Ao Siqin felt that when executing the final command to autonomously initiate random attacks, Saiwa still exhibited an obvious issue of overly monotonous attack patterns.
After this period of usage testing, Ao Siqin had gained a basic understanding of Saiwa's current capabilities. With the remaining time, he planned to observe Saiwa's ability to autonomously control virtual combat models in battle.
"Saiwa, next, you will control my combat model and Dai Mubai's combat model and have them fight each other."
As two combat models that looked almost no different from real people appeared on the arena, Saiwa automatically moved Ao Siqin from the arena to the spectator area outside.
Ao Siqin was very satisfied with Saiwa's human-like action. After casually choosing a comfortable spot to sit down, he focused his full attention on the battle taking place on the arena.
The combat process was not much different from what Ao Siqin had imagined. The two virtual combat models merely released their skills in a mechanical manner, no different from the program-controlled bosses in online games from Ao Siqin's previous life. The final result of this battle was that both Dai Mubai's and Ao Siqin's virtual combat models exhausted their soul power, ending in a draw.
This kind of typical robotic combat clearly could not satisfy Ao Siqin. Virtual combat models that could only perform at this level were not suitable to serve as training opponents for students.
However, Ao Siqin was not anxious. Saiwa was still only a newly born artificial intelligence. As long as Saiwa's database recorded a sufficient number of soul master battles, the virtual combat models it controlled would naturally be able to fight like real soul masters.
"It seems it's still an issue of information collection. Next, Saiwa needs to gather sufficiently comprehensive information on human soul masters and soul beasts as soon as possible. Only then can Saiwa flexibly control virtual combat models and allow the Virtual Combat Room to fully realize its functions.
"At present, we don't have much combat data from other soul masters, but all the combat videos we previously recorded of ourselves can be imported. Perhaps not just combat videos—other types of videos might also be importable.
"After all, the more thoroughly and comprehensively Saiwa understands human soul masters, the better it can complete the simulation of human soul masters."
After saying this, Ao Siqin had Saiwa end the real-time projection and returned to his room, preparing to exit the Virtual Combat Room.
Outside, after the projection disappeared, the Master wore a thoughtful expression. From what he had just observed, combined with Ao Siqin's self-analysis, the Master could already basically determine what the Virtual Combat Room was used for. As for some parts he was still not entirely sure about, the Master decided to personally experience it after Ao Siqin came out.
The Master could see that the current Virtual Combat Room still had many shortcomings, but even so, he had already thought of many ways to utilize it—for example: unrestricted combat.
At present, when students at the academy sparred, it was mainly for practice. When using high-powered, highly lethal soul skills, they definitely had to hold back, because no one could guarantee that a teacher's rescue would never fail. Once a teacher made a mistake, the consequences would be extremely severe.
Now, with this Virtual Combat Room, everyone could go all out in battle. After all, it was only a mental projection. Although death in the Virtual Combat Room might still have some degree of impact on students in reality, as long as the degree was properly controlled, nothing irreversible would occur.
As for how to properly control that degree, the Master planned to enter the Virtual Combat Room himself shortly and experience it firsthand.
While considering the benefits the Virtual Combat Room could bring, the Master also considered the potential drawbacks that might arise if students used the Virtual Combat Room for prolonged periods of such life-and-death-ignoring simulated combat.
The most serious issue was that students might, after becoming accustomed to simulated combat, lose their fear of death, develop bad combat habits, and thus make reckless choices in real battles.
However, since ancient times, gains and losses have always coexisted. Considering the benefits the Virtual Combat Room offered to students' growth, the Master believed these problems were acceptable, and he was confident he could handle their impact on the students.
"It seems that once Flender and the others return, we'll need to be busy for quite some time. From what Ao Siqin just implied, as long as sufficient information is available, that control intelligence called Saiwa will be capable of doing many more things.
"Diversified combat terrain, diversified combat opponents, and optimal training grounds that can be set according to needs.
"I was originally worried that during the second phase of intensive training, there would be no way to train students' ability to fight using soul guidance devices. Now there's a solution. Very good."
After Ao Siqin exited the Virtual Combat Room, the students who had been watching his usage process from the side and had long been eager to try immediately began competing for the order of entry.
The Master had initially planned to enter right away as well, but later thought that observing other students' performances first might allow him to have a more targeted experience when he entered himself. Thus, he informed the students that he would enter last.
Seeing everyone's overflowing enthusiasm for the Virtual Combat Room, Ao Siqin grinned and decided to return to the dormitory to rest first.
Because the current Virtual Combat Room was only equipped with two neural interface soul guidance devices, the remaining students—including the Master—eight people in total, needed to be divided into four groups of two and take turns logging into the Virtual Combat Room.
Judging by the time Ao Siqin himself had spent inside the Virtual Combat Room earlier, each group would need at least about fifty minutes. That meant all four groups rotating through would take roughly three and a half hours. Ao Siqin did not want to stay here for that long just watching.
Most importantly, with access to the Omniscient Library, Ao Siqin honestly didn't think much of the Virtual Combat Room at its current stage. Watching others experience the Virtual Combat Room was far less appealing than going back to take a shower and then entering the Omniscient Library instead.
