Chapter 137 - The Sleeping Valkyrie

"The NB-7 energy rifle's power is extremely formidable."

Dr. Zola's eyes held a trace of fervor as he said excitedly.

"Each of its attacks contains approximately five times the energy of the NS-7 energy pistol, and it's more concentrated with very strong destructive power against heavy armor."

"In terms of range, its effective attack distance exceeds one thousand meters. Beyond a thousand meters, although the power decreases somewhat, it still has very strong lethality."

"Moreover, its shooting accuracy is excellent, no weaker than any sniper rifle, with minimal influence from wind and other external environmental factors."

After Dr. Zola finished speaking, he tapped the control panel. Two hundred meters away from them, a massive steel beast slowly rose from beneath the ground.

This was a heavy tank over ten meters long, nearly three meters high, with a long, thick cannon barrel.

"This is one of our decommissioned old tanks. Its armor defensive performance is somewhat stronger than America's current latest main battle tank."

Dr. Zola introduced.

Chen Mo nodded, didn't waste words, and directly raised the energy rifle. After aiming at the target, he quickly pulled the trigger.

A much more dazzling blue beam shot from the muzzle, which was much thicker than the NS-7 pistol. It instantly crossed the two-hundred-meter distance and bombarded the heavy tank's wide, solid steel tracks.

A blue light exploded on the tracks. The heavy tracks were directly severed, with the lower half falling heavily to the ground under gravity, producing a huge sound.

"Crash!"

"Clang!"

The second beam directly hit the tank's thickest frontal armor.

Enormous energy exploded on the armor, instantly blasting a crater over twenty centimeters deep and head-sized in the hard special alloy armor.

Although it failed to directly breach the tank armor, Chen Mo was still fairly satisfied with this result. After all, this was a gun, not artillery or an anti-tank missile—its penetrating power was limited. Being able to blast such a deep crater in hard special alloy, its power was already no weaker than a small-caliber cannon.

The third beam accurately hit the same position as before, further expanding the damage on the armor.

The fourth beam followed, finally breaching the armor based on the previous two hits. The tank's interior began burning with a muffled explosion, with rolling thick smoke starting to pour out through the gaps.

Chen Mo then shifted the gun's muzzle, aiming at the tank's side armor. This time, the dazzling blue beam directly penetrated the armor, tearing a bowl-sized hole in it.

This showed that as long as one didn't directly confront the strongest frontal armor, whether attacking the tracks or weakly defended areas, a single hit could paralyze it or even directly eliminate the personnel inside.

Chen Mo didn't continue attacking but nodded with satisfaction, directly storing the rifle in his space and similarly collected some additional energy magazines as reserves.

Then Chen Mo looked at Dr. Zola again.

"Do you have any conventional weapons?"

Dr. Zola didn't react immediately to this question, but Colonel John, who had been standing rigidly at attention to the side, spoke up.

"Sir, we have the Kongsberg K1 military pistol produced by Norwegian arms factories here."

As John spoke, he turned and walked toward a nearby weapons rack, taking down a black handgun.

"This pistol was actually designed by our weapons department and covertly provided to the Norwegian military for production. Its performance is the strongest among all current pistols."

Hydra internally was directly equipped with energy weapons and had no use for conventional firearms, but field personnel executing missions outside—including intelligence officers, special agents, spies—needed an ordinary weapon that wouldn't attract attention.

So this pistol was created accordingly and handed to the Norwegian military for production, simultaneously equipping Norwegian forces.

To avoid arousing suspicion, this gun was also sold externally and was favored and sought after by special forces of various countries and military enthusiasts for its excellent performance.

However, its price was absurdly high. Even the wealthy United States only equipped it in a few top-tier special forces units, including the Secret Service responsible for protecting the president's safety.

Many gun-loving tycoons and military enthusiasts competed to collect it. Owning a Norwegian Kongsberg K1 pistol was every gun user's dream, but unfortunately its exorbitant price deterred the vast majority.

Despite this, it still couldn't stop people's pursuit of it. After all, its various performance specs were simply too excellent—incomparable to any other pistol. This was a well-deserved "King of Pistols."

Chen Mo took the pistol from John's hand. Its design looked somewhat similar to the Beretta 92F, rugged and full of power.

"This gun uses 9mm Parabellum rounds, magazine capacity 15 rounds, total length 217mm, empty weight 0.96kg, muzzle velocity 420 m/s, effective range 100 meters."

Colonel John introduced it to Chen Mo.

"Its shooting accuracy is very high with an extremely low failure rate. It has strong adaptability in various extreme environments and complex climate conditions like polar regions, deserts, jungles. It can still function normally under harsh combat conditions like low temperatures, sandstorms, dust, mud, and water, ensuring all-weather combat capability."

Chen Mo personally tested it again. Indeed, it was much more powerful than the M1911 pistol he originally used, with very good controllability and excellent feel. Truly worthy of being a Hydra product—the conventional combat "King of Pistols."

Although energy pistols had much greater power and formidable performance, they couldn't be easily shown before others. Moreover, for just dealing with ordinary enemies, conventional weapons actually didn't differ much from energy pistols—with Chen Mo's marksmanship, either way it was one shot one kill.

As for magazine capacity, for Chen Mo who possessed spatial storage and could instantly swap magazines, it had no impact whatsoever.

So energy weapons should remain as trump cards, not easily deployed. Conventional firearms were his main weapons for regular use.

This pistol's performance made Chen Mo very satisfied. He directly stored it in his space, turned to John and ordered.

"Prepare three more pistols and ten cases of loaded magazines and send them to my office."

After his space expansion, Chen Mo had sufficient confidence to carry large amounts of ammunition. With 125 cubic meters of space, these things took up hardly any room at all.

"Yes, sir!"

Colonel John responded.

Nodding, Chen Mo left the weapons testing ground directly.

Due to limited time, Chen Mo didn't spend too much time understanding in detail Hydra's current various new equipment and specific situations of various technologies.

There would be plenty of time later. Right now, Chen Mo had more important things to do.

...

Northwestern Norway, Scandinavian Mountains—endless mountain ranges undulated continuously. The mountaintops were all covered beneath thick ice and snow—primitive, vast, and desolate.

A dozen kilometers from the western coast, at the end of a long, deep fjord, a massive, precipitous, towering mountain whose entire body was almost covered in snow stood quietly embraced by surrounding peaks.

Bitter cold wind blew across the mountain, raising glittering snowflakes everywhere.

Suddenly, accumulated snow beside an exposed rock on the mountain face fell away. Then that enormous rock that seemed integrated with the mountain began slowly moving. Soon, as this rock fully opened, a hidden aircraft runway was revealed.

A black fighter jet with an extremely sci-fi appearance, completely different from any aircraft of any current nation, rushed out from the opening and flew at extreme speed toward the sea to the west.

The opened rock on the mountain slowly closed, soon returning to its previous state. Except for a small patch of fallen snow beside it, there was no difference from before—no abnormality visible at all.

After staying just two days at the Norwegian base, Chen Mo left the base aboard a fighter jet accompanied by Colonel John.

This latest Hydra fighter used Cosmic Cube energy as its power source with flight speeds exceeding Mach 5—a hypersonic fighter. In just half an hour, the jet crossed over two thousand kilometers and reached Chen Mo's destination.

Looking out through the cockpit glass, below to the right was an endless vast ice field meeting the azure, vast ocean at this point.

This was located at the southernmost part of Greenland, where land and ocean converged. Due to the frigid climate, the sea surface was covered year-round by thick ice. And beneath this hard ice layer was the Valkyrie that Chen Mo had personally sunk into the sea years ago!

The sci-fi-styled black Hydra fighter began slowly decelerating. The thrusters at the tail slowly rotated downward, switching to vertical takeoff and landing mode.

Amid the snow and wind kicked up by the thrusters, the Hydra fighter slowly and steadily landed on the ice field near the sea.

"Hiss!"

The sealed cabin slowly opened. Chen Mo stood up in the cockpit and leaped directly down from the aircraft, landing on the snowy ground.

Colonel John, serving as guard captain, followed closely behind Chen Mo, jumping down from the plane and walking to Chen Mo's side.

Pulling out a palm-sized tablet computer from his jacket pocket, after a few operations, the screen displayed a clear satellite map.

On the map, a green light point continuously flashed, representing their current location. And several hundred meters away from them deep in the ice field, red lines clearly outlined an enormous triangular aircraft silhouette.

Handing the tablet to Chen Mo, John said respectfully.

"Sir, according to satellite scanning, the Valkyrie is over three hundred meters north of us on the seabed. However, it's been completely covered by the ice layer above."

Chen Mo took the tablet and looked at the familiar aircraft outline on it, couldn't help but feel somewhat moved.

Seventy years ago, he had "ended" here. Now, he would begin anew here!
