Chapter 87 - Chapter 87 "Take a rest, Roman."

Roman watched Huo Yuhao's back as he entered Su Nuo's room before turning away to face the increasingly dense night.

The clouds were exceptionally thick today, like a black curtain completely swallowing up and submerging the connection between Douluo Star and the universe.

Because soul tools were not yet widespread in this world, they were still the privilege of a few soul masters. The so-called era of soul tools would not truly arrive until the advent of sealed milk bottles.

Therefore, the sky here was always clear enough to see the stars directly, and on a clear day, one could even see a Milky Way.

The light from the stars gently caressed this life-bearing planet, like a welcome and a protection.

The twinkling of the starlight seemed to be some kind of code, waiting for life to decipher it.

Roman enjoyed this beautiful scenery, bathed in starlight, looking at the constellations and galaxies that were completely different from those in Solomon's memory.

Sometimes, he would try to find the blue planet of his memory through the starry sky.

Even though he knew it was impossible, according to Huo Yuhao, this planet called Douluo Star was, in a sense, the Earth of this world.

Although Roman thought this explanation was a bit far-fetched.

Neither the environment nor the surrounding star system had any similarities to Earth.

The only thing similar was the moon in the sky; its size and distance from the planet were roughly the same as that blue planet.

  "Creak~"

The door to Su Nuo's room opened again, and Huo Yuhao stepped out. He stretched, looking slightly tired. He

had been using his divine power to travel all day and then had to infuse these children with martial souls at night; even Huo Yuhao was a little exhausted.

Roman waved to Huo Yuhao, who was somewhat surprised. Huo Yuhao

came to his side and said,

  "Why are you still here?"

  "Aren't you going to work?"

Roman's smiling expression froze upon hearing this.

He almost couldn't help but start arguing with Huo Yuhao. Listen to what a human being says!

It's already 3 AM! Even Kobe Bryant would be up by now.

And you want me to go to work?

  Even capitalists aren't as heartless

as this bastard! He and Bai E and the other kids are just dreamers, so why do they get to live a peaceful life while Roman has to shoulder the burden?

  "Hey, it's already three o'clock!"

  "Even a half-nightmare should rest!"

"Damn it, you heartless boss! I'm practically your child!"

"Children don't get along, it's mostly the old man's fault!"

Huo Yuhao looked at Roman with disdain and said,

"Bai E and the others are still minors, there's a law protecting minors, how can you, an adult, be the same?"

"I'm being lenient by not throwing you out, and I even pay you a salary."

"Do you know how much effort the little planet spirit and I put in to pull you out?"

"The little planet spirit modified and adjusted the planetary records for three million years to implant your record into this world."

"You haven't even said thank you yet!"

Seeing Roman's lifeless expression, Huo Yuhao smiled, patted him on the shoulder, and then turned and left.

She waved her hand and said to him,

"Alright, I'll give you a few days off. Go back and eat your strawberry cake."

"After Bai E and the others awaken their martial souls, could you help me take care of them?"

"Once your work is finished, I'll help you bring Magical Melly out to your room, and you can go travel the world."

As Huo Yuhao reached the end of the corridor and turned to go down the stairs, he turned back to Roman and said,

  "I was just joking earlier."

"Zuo Man'er reported to me that you've been working late every night."

"This world has no Goetia, no one cares about incineration, and no singularities."

"Uh, there is one Gaia, though."

"There's only one dog-donkey here who thinks he can control his own destiny."

  "So, take a break, Roman."

This time, Huo Yuhao's figure completely disappeared, and the long staircase returned to silence, with only the occasional sound of the wind rustling through the leaves of the photinia trees.

Roman had heard many children in the orphanage complain that these trees smelled particularly bad when they bloomed in April.

Although Roman felt the same way, he was just a doctor and not responsible for managing the orphanage's environment, so he was powerless to do anything about it.

  "Take a break?"

Roman carefully pondered these words, seemingly trying to grasp their meaning.

"So... this is what humans are like?"

  "What a strange feeling."

Enjoying the evening breeze, Roman habitually took out a can of coffee from his storage soul tool, which he had bought from Ruilu.

He tapped the can lightly with his fingers, making a clear sound, and after rubbing it for a while, Roman put the coffee back into his storage soul tool.

Then he slowly walked to Feng Jin's door and left a notebook he had compiled on the shelf by the door.

It mainly contained magical knowledge analyzed using alchemy.

The level of knowledge was average, at most involving Reality Marbles, and even those weren't fully analyzed using alchemy.

In Roman's eyes, this magical knowledge was just so-so.

It was also a kind of compensation for what he had promised Feng Jin. The Human Order Incineration was really too dangerous; one wrong move and another singularity was created.

Roman had also informed Huo Yuhao beforehand that he would give Feng Jin some special knowledge.

Huo Yuhao glanced at the book Roman gave Feng Jin, carefully flipped through it, and felt that the knowledge inside wasn't too dangerous, so he let him be.

Anyway, in Huo Yuhao's eyes, Feng Jin was a very well-behaved and lovely child.

She longed to heal and save lives, and perhaps in the future, she could inherit his medical clinic in Xuanfeng City.

After finishing his work, Roman shook his white coat, smoothed his ponytail, and followed Huo Yuhao out of the dormitory building.

  He planned to rest.

The night wasn't long; it passed in the blink of an eye. Huo Yuhao couldn't get up at four in the morning like Lao Da.

By nine in the morning, the sunlight was already a little intense. Huo Yuhao had rested for a total of six hours, which was enough for a Soul Master.

Huo Yuhao opened the window and looked at the bustling crowds on the streets of Xilu City, occasionally seeing a few sheriffs managing street order.

Sheriffs were a concept Huo Yuhao had created; the Douluo Continent didn't have this concept, and in other cities, street security was generally managed by soldiers.

Huo Yuhao had broken down the responsibility of managing city order to establish a security department.

The army on the Douluo Continent was far too bloated!

He had learned from the enthusiastic Shrek Academy cadres that he had successfully joined Shrek Academy's city defense army.

Because he frequently bribed the city defense forces and secured various preferential treatments from Snow King Ice City and Kenlais of Shrek City for the soldiers,

that enthusiastic cadre, despite only being a Soul King, was personally appointed as the garrison officer of the South Gate of Shrek City by the Time Douluo Shi Xing upon joining the city defense forces.

The south, north, and west gates of Shrek City were freely accessible, while the east gate was exclusively for Shrek Academy, as it faced the Star Dou Great Forest.

Currently, that enthusiastic cadre was frantically filling the Shrek City defense forces with enthusiastic personnel; at least for now, the South Gate of Shrek City was essentially under their control.

Because of Huo Sui'er, Xuan Zi also frequently inspected the South Gate, occasionally killing a few troublemakers, letting everyone within the city defense forces know that the Gluttonous Douluo would indeed take action for enthusiasm.

According to the Shrek City defense forces' reports, their army was responsible not only for city defense but also for maintaining order within the city and even collecting taxes.

The internal departments were numerous but not closely connected, each with its own specific tasks.
