Chapter 47 - The Soul Exploration

I hear you. I messed up the soul ownership and the specific level of "Brutality" in the temptation. I've fixed the grammar errors, corrected the soul target to the brother, refined the teacher's dialogue to be more universal, and added the specific visual of the naked figures in the lake to make the temptation feel as dangerous as you described.

Refined Chapter: The Lake of Frozen Truth

A week had passed. It was a week stained with sadness, living under the shadow of his "eternal sleep." He had taken that shot—the one meant for me—right in the center of his chest. It haunts me. He could have turned his back, let the armor take the hit, and survived with less damage. Instead, even in that final moment, he chose not to let his body even brush against mine. He took the impact full-force in his chest just to keep me untouched.

Searching for answers, I left the hostel and found Aeldir. He was running, his body drenched in sweat. He stopped in front of me, breathless.

"So you've finally woken up, Lysandria," he said. I nodded. "Good. Go get breakfast. I'll be there in five minutes."

As he spoke, a green mana began to coat his skin. These brothers are insane—one can bend water into iron, and the other uses healing magic to kill exhaustion continuously, remaining standing even when the body breaks. I went to breakfast and later joined Aeldir for classes. He appeared fully refreshed; he hadn't stopped practicing, using lake water to wipe away the sweat.

He was changing. I had never seen a fire in him before, but now he was burning. When the teacher discussed the theory of fire, he asked: "Which element counters it? How many fire types exist?" During physical training, he practiced against Kael, Seraphine, and me all alone. He couldn't stand against us for a minute, yet he tried again and again, practicing different spells until nightfall.

Seeing his hard work, the three of us decided to play with him that night. We ended the day at the Spirit Lecture, where we learned a contract ritual. By creating a mana domain and offering a sacrifice—like a mana crystal or your own mana—you could summon a spirit to help your consciousness travel outside your body. In this faded form, you could enter someone's soul without being detected. As long as the spirit was fed mana, it wouldn't harm you or take over your body.

We gathered in Aeldir's room, teleported there directly by the Academy's stones. We played chess and "Serve or Admit." It was fun until Luna suggested we try the ritual the instructor mentioned. Seraphine and Kael agreed. Since Aeldir's brother was the one in that "eternal sleep," we chose his soul as the target.

We performed the ritual. Our bodies fell asleep as our consciousnesses faded into spirit forms. We saw his soul—it wore the same mask as his body.

"Damn it, I want to see his face. Was he born with it?" Kael mocked.

Aeldir, curious, entered his spirit form and joined us. He saw us trying to pull at his brother's mask, which was bound by a powerful shield. "Stop!" he shouted.

"What about seeing his soul?" Luna ignored him. "If he's ill, we can find out."

We jumped in, ignoring Aeldir's protests. We expected to see a king on a throne or a commander resting on a mountain of corpses. Instead, we were shocked. We found a small house, a farm, and cattle surrounded by mountains. In front of it lay a beautiful lake at dawn. The beauty was so overwhelming even Aeldir was stunned.

But then Seraphine shouted, "There's something in the depths!"

We move out of curiosity and found a crystal-clear ice cube. Inside was a seventeen-year-old child in a fetal posture, wearing patient clothes and a mask.

The Spirit Summoner's voice—from the lecture—collided with Luna's mind: "Ice covering a body in the soul area represents either trapped emotion or kindness. He was kind to bless salvation upon you... so only one thing is left." We realized he had sealed his very essence inside this cube just to survive. We made a pitying sound, wondering what he had suffered to build a prison this strong.

Suddenly, an Ominous Gaze fell upon us. It was a killing intent so strong we were seconds from death. Then, the child inside the cube lifted his head and placed a hand against the ice. The pressure stopped. We gasped for air, shocked that even while confined, he was helping us.

As we fled, the sky filled with letters—fighting techniques, movement spells, counters—everything he had ever read. Then, the lake mirrored a cave where his second soul was kneeling. A "Wenny Woman" moved around him.

"Little soldier, aren't you tired of fighting?" she whispered.

She offered him salvation and peace. Then she spoke of secrets. Because of the soul filter, I only heard her talk about my secret—why I feel familiar, why I hide my power. Seraphine and Kael stood frozen; they were clearly hearing their own hidden truths being exposed.

She began to transform—taking my form, then Seraphine's. They were naked, bathing in the lake, their forms clear and tempting. "It's a true seduction trap!" Aeldir cried.

He started to scream, grappling his head as the force shook him. The Wenny Woman offered him everything if he just gave up his power. We were in great tension; if he agreed, we were all doomed. But he hung his head and spoke with a chilling coldness. More ice froze around the cube.

"I am the Commander of Elites," he stood, countering her gravity. "The one who stands against beast and demon armies, the army killer. I am the one who was feared, the one who chose this path. I want nothing. I have myself."

She tried one last time, offering a "beautiful girl vessel"—and we realized his consciousness was trapped in a girl's body, making him weak. He didn't hesitate. He dashed forward and cut her neck.

"Enough."

As she died, we were thrown out of his soul. But as our consciousnesses returned to the room, a final sound echoed clearly in the air around us:

"Aeldir... at least leave me alone, and protect the soul sleeping there."
