"The Fifth Angel?"
Gendo Ikari sat in the high seat. Hands crossed. Watched the screen's gradually clearing image. Said in a low voice.
"As expected, the Angels' attack speed has changed." Professor Fuyutsuki stood behind him. Furrowed brow. "Such urgent attack frequency... too strange..."
The Fourth Angel attacked the day after the Third Angel was eliminated.
And the Fifth Angel was the same. Late night the day after the Fourth Angel was eliminated—already here.
"Is someone actively awakening Angels?" Gendo Ikari contemplated in a low voice.

On screen, the Fifth Angel arrived at combat-ready Tokyo-3 under night sky.

Seeing this, everyone in the command room felt an ominous premonition.

Next second, a blinding beam erupted from the Fifth Angel's front center position. Blasted toward the city. Accompanied by thunderous sounds, submerged and destroyed all defensive structures along the path. Directly pierced an entire street's defensive facilities!

"EVA Unit-01, arrived at mission position!" Technical personnel reported.
The Fifth Angel immediately detected Unit-01's presence. Hurriedly redirected. Launched another attack.
But this beam was predicted by Unit-01. Dodged with a roll.
"It's up to you... Shinji-kun." Misato Katsuragi watched Unit-01 stand up again on screen. Clenched her fist.
