Chapter 120 Junior, Can You Do Me a Favor?
After a while, Xuan Ziwen, dressed in a white research coat, walked into the research room.
Upon seeing Xuan Ziwen, Senior Sister Liu Qing's eyes flickered slightly, but quickly subsided.
Xuan Ziwen immediately spotted Yun Ze, nodded to him, and then said to the other female students, "This is the new student, Yun Ze. From now on, he will be your junior. When I'm not here, you will be responsible for all his studies."
"Teacher, teacher, how much exactly?" Tang Ruoyi immediately raised her hand and asked.
Xuan Ziwen glanced at her and then ignored her.
Tang Ruoyi pouted and moved closer
to Yun Ze. Xuan Ziwen waved to Yun Ze, and then walked into his office. Yun Ze immediately followed.
"Sit down," Xuan Ziwen said, pointing to the chair in front of his desk. Yun Ze sat down, and the latter handed him an illustrated book.
Yunze took the book and found it to be a detailed guide to level three soul guidance arrays. Opening it, he saw clear records of the inscription routes for some common level three soul guidance arrays.
"Your current learning goal is to master at least ten different level three soul guidance arrays within this month. If you have any questions, you can come to me immediately, or ask your senior classmates," Xuan Ziwen said calmly. This wasn't a deliberate act; it was simply his natural tone.
Yunze nodded without saying anything, focusing on memorizing the contents of the book.
Level three soul guidance arrays are at least twice as complex as level two arrays. Furthermore, level three soul guidance devices require three core arrays of level three, making them significantly more difficult to create than level two.
Most importantly, achieving balance among the three arrays requires careful selection of the metal and the suitability of the arrays. This is why odd-numbered soul guidance devices are more difficult to create than even-numbered ones.
For almost the entire day—morning, noon, and afternoon—Yunze spent all his time in the research lab. Even his meals were brought to him by Tang Ruoyi and Jiang Moli.
The others didn't seem to notice his junior's diligence, only occasionally urging him to take a break. Only Liu Qing looked at Yunze with surprise, her gaze softening slightly.
"Phew," Yunze thought, putting down the illustrated book. He found only Liu Qing left in the lab.
Without any embarrassment, he walked over to her and asked softly, "Senior, what time is it?"
"It should be around seven o'clock in the evening," Liu Qing replied, looking up and smiling gently at him.
"So late," Yunze muttered, scratching his head. He decided to leave.
Before he could even step out of the lab, Liu Qing called out to him, "Junior, wait a minute."
Yunze paused, turning back. "What's wrong, Senior?"
"Could you do me a favor?" Liu Qing asked softly.
"Of course, no problem." Yunze said, returning to Liu Qing's side.
Liu Qing's request for Yunze's help was simple: she wanted to try making a level seven soul tool, some of which involved low-level soul guidance arrays. Although she could easily complete it herself, she chose to have Yunze help her.
After a moment of silence, Liu Qing smiled and said, "It's like this, junior, tomorrow is Teacher Xuan's birthday, and I want to give him this soul tool as a gift. However, if I were to complete it by myself, I'd probably be very rushed, so I asked you for help."
"Oh, I see. No problem." Yunze suddenly understood, but he hesitated for a moment and couldn't help asking, "But senior, you could have easily asked Senior Tang and Senior Jiang for help." Liu Qing gently shook her head. "Xiao Ruoyi and Xiao Moli also have their own things to do. You probably don't know, but they both come from noble families, and the competition within their families is fierce, especially since they're girls and their mother is a concubine, so their family status isn't very high. I don't want to trouble them with this kind of thing."
After hearing this, Yun Ze's impression of this senior sister improved considerably.
Actually, among the four senior sisters in the research lab, Yun Ze was the least familiar with Liu Qing, and hadn't spoken much to her all day.
But now, however, Liu Qing seemed like a very kind older sister.
Without hesitation, Yun Ze immediately began helping Liu Qing create some low-level magic arrays.
The two fell silent, each completing their tasks.
After a while, when Liu Qing finished inscribing the core magic array, she looked at Yun Ze and was completely shocked.
This little guy was only a level two Soul Master, but the precision of his inscription was no less than that of some level four Soul Masters!
No wonder Teacher Xuan made an exception and took in a kid who should have been in his second or third year of university into his research lab. Such talent was truly terrifying!
Then, Liu Qing recalled the conversation she overheard at Mingde Hall a few days ago.
Apparently, in a challenge competition at the academy, a freshman had consecutively defeated several senior students, including a level-five Soul Master, and his name seemed to be Yun Ze?!
So it was this little guy!
Liu Qing gave Yun Ze a deep look, but ultimately withdrew her gaze and focused on the core magic array she had completed.
Her originally gentle eyes softened even more.
Yun Ze, however, was completely oblivious to Liu Qing's change. He was extremely focused on creating the Soul Guidance Magic Array, treating it as his most important task at the moment.
After Yun Ze put down his carving knife, he looked up at Liu Qing, "Sorry, senior, I'm a little uncomfortable using the standard carving knife in the research lab. Otherwise, the precision of the magic array could probably be improved by about twenty percent."
Liu Qing, "..."
My god, this little guy is a monster!
She smiled and shook her head, "It's alright, it's already very good, thank you, junior."
"No need to be so polite, senior. It's getting late, I'll go back first. Don't stay up too late, senior." Yunze said, then got up and left.
Liu Qing watched Yunze's departing figure, smiled, and continued to bury herself in making the soul tool.
This matter was just a small episode for Yunze. When he returned to the villa, he saw Meng Hongchen and Xiao Hongchen sitting at the dining table.
As soon as she saw Yunze return, Meng Hongchen quickly waved to him, "Xiaoze, you must be starving, come and eat. Today, your sister cooked for you personally!"
Xiao Hongchen snorted irritably, "If you make people wait for you again, I won't wait for you."
"Hmph, if you don't wait, I will. Eat if you want, or go back to your room." Meng Hongchen glared at Xiao Hongchen, who immediately fell silent and served herself a bowl of rice.
Yunze smiled slightly, showing no dissatisfaction whatsoever with Xiao Hongchen's words. On the contrary, this kind of life gave him a long-lost feeling of home.
