...

{Ember's Pov}

I quickly left the Goddess's place, feeling an overwhelming excitement building up inside me.

Finally—after waiting for what felt like an eternity—I had falna!

The divine blessing that every adventurer dreams of.

I couldn't stop the wide grin that crept up on my face as I recalled that glorious moment when it was granted to me.

The thrill of finally being able to use real magic was just too much to contain.

My hands were practically itching to test it out, so without wasting even a second, I hurried toward the forest.

My destination was the lake located on the outskirts, not too far from the village.

It was a beautiful and calm lake, connected to a small river that provided the village with water.

Normally, it would take nearly an hour to reach there on foot, but thanks to my trustworthy horse, I managed to arrive in less than twenty minutes.

The crisp morning air brushed against my face as the faint scent of wet soil filled my nostrils.

It was peaceful—though, I wasn't planning to keep it that way for long.

Reaching the lakeside, I hopped off my horse, tightened my grip around my magic staff, and pointed it toward the center of the lake.

My heartbeat quickened as I began to chant the incantation I had been practicing in my mind for minutes, "O' Flames of Legends! Burn brighter than thy enemy! Turn them into cinders! Let their ashes wash in your blue flames! Cremation!"

The moment the last word left my lips, a brilliant burst of blue fire erupted from the tip of my staff and shot straight toward the lake's surface.

Boom!

A thunderous sound echoed across the area, startling a few birds from the nearby trees.

My eyes widened in amazement as I watched the dazzling blue flames dance wildly, spreading across the lake's surface.

The heat was so intense that the water began to boil violently, sending clouds of steam rising into the air. It wasn't just warm—it was scorching hot.

The raw destructive power made my chest tighten with both pride and awe.

Still grinning, I searched around for something more solid to test my magic on and soon found a large wooden log lying close to the shore.

It was damp from the morning dew, but that made it even better for testing.

I aimed my staff again and launched the same spell.

The moment the blue fire struck the log, it ignited instantly, burning brighter and faster than I expected.

Within seconds, the entire piece of wood was consumed, leaving behind nothing but a pile of fine gray ash.

I couldn't help but nod in satisfaction, deeply impressed by the results.

Even from several meters away, I could still feel the waves of heat radiating from the charred spot where the flames had been.

If I had to guess, the temperature of that attack must have been at least around 1,400 degrees Celsius—perhaps even higher.

From what I remembered about flame coloration, the hue of fire is usually connected to its temperature—ranging from dull red to bright white.

Blue flames, in particular, are incredibly hot, nearly comparable to white flames in intensity.

This power… it was far beyond anything I had imagined.

I could finally feel it—the strength of true magic flowing through my veins.

The heat radiating from my spell was intense—so much so that I was certain it could easily kill even a Level 2 adventurer, and perhaps, if they were careless enough, even a Level 3.

The sheer destructive power behind my flames made me finally grasp just how terrifyingly potent my magic was.

This wasn't just some ordinary spell—it was a weapon of devastation.

Feeling a mixture of pride and adrenaline, I couldn't stop myself from wanting to push it further.

Without wasting any more time, I immediately returned to my usual daily routine—grinding.

Training, hunting, and fighting; it had become my way of life.

I raised my staff once again and began launching a barrage of fire spells, one after another, toward the already suffering lake.

Explosions echoed in the air as waves of heat distorted the surroundings.

I kept going until the once-glimmering shoreline looked dry and scarred from repeated bursts of scorching energy.

My breathing grew heavy, sweat trickled down my forehead, and a dull ache started spreading through my head—a clear sign of Mind exhaustion.

Letting out a deep sigh, I reached into my pouch and pulled out a Mind Potion.

The moment I drank it, a refreshing cool sensation spread through my body and mind, instantly lifting the fatigue. I exhaled in relief as the dizziness faded, but I knew that wasn't the end of the day for me.

After a short rest, I mounted my horse and ventured deeper into the forest, determined to continue training in real combat conditions.

I wandered through the thick woods, cutting down every stray monster that dared to cross my path.

By the time the sun began dipping toward the horizon, I had slain fifty-six Goblins and twelve Kobolds.

It wasn't anything particularly impressive, but considering the monsters were scarce today, I was satisfied with the results.

When I finally decided to return, the forest had already started to darken.

The rhythmic sound of my horse's hooves echoed softly as I approached the familiar outline of Shawn Village.

To my surprise, I saw Goddess Aurora and Miss Martha standing right at the entrance, seemingly waiting for me.

"Ember! Did you enjoy your monster hunting?" the Goddess asked with her usual teasing smile. Her tone carried a mix of curiosity and amusement.

I scratched the back of my head awkwardly, offering a wry smile in return.

I knew full well that what I had done was reckless—leaving without notice, overexerting myself, and skipping meals.

"I apologize, Miss Martha, for missing today's meals… I was rather excited," I said sincerely, bowing slightly as I dismounted my horse.

Miss Martha crossed her arms, giving a resigned sigh.

"Here I was, thinking of scolding you harshly, and then you go and speak so politely like a gentleman..." she muttered before shaking her head.

"Anyway, make sure to inform me next time before you run off like that."

I nodded obediently.

"I will."

Both of them accompanied me back to the inn, and as we arrived, I noticed something strange.

The entire front area of Miss Martha's Inn was brightly illuminated by oil lamps, casting a warm golden glow over the surroundings.

Several wooden tables and chairs had been neatly arranged outside, and the air was filled with laughter and the faint aroma of freshly cooked food.

I frowned slightly, puzzled by the sight.

There wasn't any festival or special occasion that I was aware of.

Before I could ask, Goddess Aurora gave me a mischievous smirk and spread her arms dramatically.

"This is your welcome party, Ber! From this day onward, you are not only a member of the Aurora Familia but also a proud resident of Shawn Village!"

Her words caught me off guard for a moment.

For a moment, I stood completely stunned, blinking at the sight before me as my mind tried to process what was happening.

"Shocked, lad?" Miss Martha asked with a knowing smile, clearly amused by my expression.

"Well… I didn't expect… something like this," I admitted honestly, still taken aback.

I hadn't imagined they would go through the trouble of preparing a full-on party just for my sake.

Miss Martha chuckled softly, clearly pleased with my reaction, and before I could say anything else, more villagers started arriving one after another, their cheerful chatter filling the air.

Then, as if to make things even more overwhelming, Goddess Aurora suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the center of the gathering.

Her face was glowing with mischief and energy, and with a dramatic gesture, she raised her voice so that everyone could hear.

"Everyone! This impromptu party has been arranged to celebrate the joy of Sir Ber joining our family!" she announced with great enthusiasm.

The crowd immediately burst into cheers, clapping and shouting in excitement.

I could feel dozens of eyes on me, all smiling warmly.

It was… oddly touching.

I wasn't used to this kind of communal warmth, where people simply appreciated me and didn't have that weird look of obsession.

Taking a deep breath, I decided to say a few words in return.

"I thank everyone for the kindness you've shown me," I began, looking around at the gathered villagers.

"To be honest, this is quite sudden, but I've been searching for a suitable familia for a while now. After meeting the Goddess here, I believe I've finally found the one I've been looking for."

A wave of cheers erupted again, even louder than before.

Aurora smirked in satisfaction, clearly proud of how everything was going.

"Now then! Let's get this party started!" she shouted, raising her hand high.

"Yeahhh!!!" the entire crowd roared in unison, their energy lighting up the atmosphere.

Soon, we all took our seats as several women—and a few enthusiastic men—brought out dish after dish, setting them down in front of everyone.

The aroma hit me instantly, and my mouth began watering uncontrollably.

The smell of roasted meat, warm bread, and fragrant soup filled the air.

There were platters of pork, chicken, and goat meat, each cooked differently—some grilled, some fried, some coated in herbs.

Bowls of steaming soup and fresh fruits were placed at every table.

I noticed some rustic dishes I hadn't seen before, probably local village specialties.

I couldn't hold back my hunger any longer.

Even though the meal might not compare to the lavish feasts I used to enjoy back in the palace—with their golden plates and rare delicacies—this one had a certain charm to it.

I tore into a piece of pork rib, the meat tender and juicy, and exclaimed between bites, "It's delicious!"

That single word seemed to please everyone around me.

Laughter, chatter, and music filled the air.

The younger girls of the village began dancing joyfully near the firelight, their skirts swirling with every movement.

Some of the couples even joined in, holding hands and spinning to the rhythm of a cheerful tune played by a man with a flute.

It was a lively, heartwarming scene that even I couldn't help but enjoy.

However, the only thing that slightly ruined the mood for me was Aurora's persistent attempts to make me drink alcohol.

She kept shoving a mug toward me with a teasing grin, insisting that I had to "loosen up."

I declined politely at first, but she wasn't the only one—some of the villagers also began encouraging me to join in, chanting and laughing.

Eventually, when one of them tried to forcefully hand me the drink, I decided it was time to remind them of something important—the nature of Elves. I

let my calm expression fade, allowing a sharp, cold aura to leak out.

My blue eyes narrowed, and the cheerful laughter around us briefly quieted as everyone felt the shift in atmosphere.

That was the first time I showed them what is often referred to as Elf Anger.

They understood instantly.

The pressure lifted after a moment, and I gave a small smile to assure them that I wasn't truly angry.

The tension faded, replaced once again by laughter and relief.

After that, no one offered me another drink for the rest of the evening.

And honestly… I preferred it that way.

Other than a few minor inconveniences, it was, overall, a pretty good day.

The celebration had gone on for quite a while, and by the end of it, most of the villagers had either fallen asleep or left for their homes.

Goddess Aurora, on the other hand, had gotten slightly drunk—her face flushed and her speech just a little slurred—but despite that, I somehow managed to convince her to update my status before she completely passed out.

She seemed rather enthusiastic about it too, as if she had been waiting for this moment just as much as I had.

So, later that night, I found myself lying on the bed, watching her from the corner of my eyes as she sat on the edge, humming softly while performing the status update.

The faint glow of divine energy surrounded her fingertips as she traced the characters on my back, transferring the divine script into readable form.

Once she was done, she stretched slightly, gave a small hiccup, and said, "Done!" in a cheerful tone.

Then, she took a sheet of parchment, copied the details from my back onto it neatly, and handed it over to me with a satisfied grin.

I took the paper and glanced down at my newly updated status.

I released a long sigh as my eyes ran over the numbers.

To be honest, I already had a pretty good idea of what my progress would look like, but still… seeing it written out on paper made me feel just a little disappointed.

My stats had improved, sure—but not by as much as I had secretly hoped for.

'I guess this is the difference between normal people and those with cheats, huh?' I thought to myself with a wry, helpless smile tugging at my lips.

I wasn't ungrateful, but compared to the overpowered growths some people received in stories or legends, my own progress looked painfully ordinary.

"Huh? You seem disappointed?" Goddess Aurora's voice suddenly broke through my thoughts.

Her tone was curious but laced with amusement, and when I looked up, I saw her watching me with half-lidded eyes and a faint smile that betrayed her tipsiness.

I sighed again and replied honestly, "I didn't expect much, but… still, my status didn't even cross twenty-five in any stat."

"Is that so? To be honest… the increase in your status in a single day has been the greatest I have ever seen," she said, her tone filled with genuine amazement.

Her words caught me completely off guard, and I blinked in surprise.

It was flattering, of course, but at the same time, it made me realize something important — just how far ahead the adventurers of Orario must really be.

If what I had achieved in a single day was considered extraordinary out here, then the people over there, who constantly faced strong monsters and challenges, must be on an entirely different level.

Sure, my growth was impressive for someone who had just started out.

Maybe, at this pace, I could even manage to reach the point of leveling up within a year.

But leveling up in a year wasn't my real goal.

That wasn't enough for me.

What I truly wanted was something much higher, something far beyond ordinary expectations.

My aim was to surpass every known limit, to push every single one of my parameters to the very top — to reach SSS rank, or whatever the absolute limit of growth was — before even thinking about ranking up.

That was the goal I had set for myself from the very beginning.

It sounded ridiculous, maybe even impossible, but that was the kind of challenge that made my blood boil with excitement.

Still, I wasn't blind to reality.

Forget about achieving SSS rank; even pushing my stats beyond the S limit was already a huge question mark.

I knew all too well that getting even my parameters up to the B range would take an immense amount of effort, especially considering the monsters around here weren't exactly strong enough to provide the kind of experience I needed.

If I stayed here too long, my growth would stagnate — that much was clear.

I shared these thoughts with Goddess Aurora, explaining my worries and plans in detail.

She listened carefully, her expression shifting from calm interest to understanding, and then finally, mild concern.

"I see… well, you don't regret it now, right?" she asked, tilting her head slightly as her crimson eyes studied me.

I gave a small smile and shook my head.

"Nope," I replied honestly.

She smiled back at that, but then her face turned serious again.

"Ember," she said, her tone soft yet firm, "I doubt you'll be able to grow much if you stay here. This place is too peaceful, too far from danger. If you really want to improve quickly, there's only one choice left for you — you'll need to move into a monster-infested area."

She paused briefly, then continued, "There's a town — or rather, a small city — called Argon, located about thirty kilometers from here. It has three familias operating within it and even a guild branch. Despite its small size, it's surprisingly active."

Her expression hardened slightly as she added, "Even though Argon isn't large, there's a Level 4 adventurer living there. The city also faces regular attacks from Level 2 monsters. Honestly, I didn't want to send you there so soon… but it might be exactly the kind of place you're looking for."

She looked at me with visible worry, as if torn between her responsibility as a goddess and her concern for me as one of her children.

"I see…" I muttered thoughtfully, taking in her words.

After a brief pause, I looked up and said with determination, "Then I guess I'll have to leave soon, Goddess. Don't worry — I'll be cautious. I'll return here every month for a status update, I promise."

She gave me a sad smile, her eyes softening.

"To think you have to leave this early," she murmured, clearly reluctant but accepting my decision.

I scratched my cheek awkwardly and replied, "Well, maybe I should wait until my status reaches at least the hundreds before I actually set out."

That seemed to comfort her a little, as her expression brightened somewhat.

After that conversation, I left her house and returned to the inn, already planning my next steps.

Over the following month, I worked relentlessly — fighting monsters, training my body and mind, and testing the limits of my magic every single day.

Day and night, I hunted tirelessly.

I fought off packs of killer ants, battled through dense forests, and even managed to take down five orcs after an intense and exhausting fight deep within the wilderness.

Each battle pushed me further, forcing me to adapt and grow stronger.

By the end of the month, when I finally went back for another status update, I looked at the new numbers on my sheet and couldn't help but grin widely.

Seeing how much my stats had risen filled me with genuine joy — proof that all my effort, sweat, and struggle had finally started to pay off.

I stared at the paper for a good few seconds, completely taken aback by what I was seeing.

The jump in my parameters was nothing short of extraordinary.

Even though I had expected some improvement, seeing the actual numbers written down made my heart race in disbelief.

My status had increased so drastically in just a month that I had to double-check to make sure I wasn't hallucinating.

Goddess Aurora, who was still sitting beside me, broke into a proud smile.

"That's the highest increase in a month I've ever seen in my entire life," she said with genuine amazement, her tone filled with pride.

"Ember, this increase isn't just because you're talented — it's because you worked incredibly hard for it. You've been pushing yourself day and night, fighting monsters without rest, training relentlessly, and constantly improving. This kind of growth is a direct reflection of your determination and effort."

Her words struck a chord with me, and I nodded in acknowledgment.

I could literally feel the difference in my body — the raw strength coursing through my limbs, the stability in my stance, and the way my senses seemed sharper than ever.

It was as though power was pulsing beneath my skin, waiting to be unleashed.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself as I looked down at the numbers again.

Doing a quick count, I realized that my total parameters had crossed a thousand points — precisely 1,054. That was an enormous leap for just a single month of training, and even though I knew I had worked hard, seeing the results laid out in numbers made it feel even more surreal.

Goddess Aurora chuckled softly, still amazed by the sight.

"To put that into perspective," she said thoughtfully, "your current status is just a bit short of Jason's — if we exclude his magic stat. And keep in mind, it's been more than a year and a half since he received his falna. The fact that you've managed to reach so close to his level in a single month just goes to show how exceptional your progress truly is."

Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she looked at me — like a proud teacher watching her student exceed expectations.

I couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed by that look, but at the same time, a small sense of satisfaction bloomed inside me.

I had worked hard for this, and it was paying off.

"Good," she said finally, clapping her hands lightly.

"Now, let me lock your falna."

I nodded and lay back on the bed as she began the process.

The sensation of her divine energy moving across my back was faint but noticeable — a warm, tingling feeling that spread across my skin as she sealed the status.

She worked silently for a few moments before finally sitting up straight and saying, "Alright, it's done. Your falna is now locked. Unless someone uses a status snitch or a similar ability, your current status should remain completely hidden and secure."

I pushed myself up into a sitting position and looked at her gratefully.

"Thank you, Goddess," I said sincerely, my tone carrying a trace of embarrassment.

"If not for you, none of this would've been possible. It really… means a lot to me."

She chuckled softly before breaking into a grin and said, "Thanks to you, Ember! Because of you, I will finally get to feel what it's like to sire a genius!"

Her voice was filled with amusement and pride, and she grinned ear to ear.

I sighed and facepalmed myself, realizing that the Goddess had once again reverted to her usual antics.

For a moment, I thought she might actually stay serious for once—but of course, I was wrong.

Still, it didn't matter much, because seeing her so lively made it hard not to laugh along.

Before long, both of us were laughing together, the atmosphere turning light-hearted again.

The next morning, I was ready to leave the village.

Everything had been packed and prepared.

I had decided to leave my old horse behind in the village stable and take another one instead—mainly because I didn't want to risk anyone recognizing my horse from before.

Even though the chances were slim, I didn't want to leave any loose ends that might expose my identity or cause unnecessary attention later on.

I had also prepared some dyes to change my appearance slightly, just in case, and packed enough rations to last for several days.

Our journey wasn't a solo one either; I was traveling in a carriage pulled by two strong horses, accompanied by another carriage and a small group of Familia members, including a Level 2 adventurer who seemed to be leading them.

"Sir Ber, my name is Edward, and I'm the Captain of the Aurora Familia," the man said politely with a friendly smile as he introduced himself.

He looked to be in his early thirties, with short brown hair and a well-built body—definitely someone who had seen his fair share of battles.

I shook hands with him and smiled.

"Ah, I see. Sorry, I didn't get the chance to meet you during the celebration party—or even after that. I was too caught up in my training," I said honestly, scratching my cheek a little awkwardly.

He let out a hearty laugh and waved his hand dismissively.

"Don't fret over it, Sir Ber! Well, I suppose I should address you by your alias, Tithonus, right? Either way, welcome properly to the Familia. If you ever need any kind of help, feel free to come to me anytime. I usually travel to Argon every month with the rest of the Familia members to handle the trade work," he explained.

I nodded in understanding.

It seemed simple enough—apparently, the Aurora Familia made regular trips to the city of Argon to sell goods produced in the village, including the magic stones they collected from slain monsters, and to purchase essential supplies and materials that couldn't be found locally.

It was a monthly routine that helped sustain both the Familia and the village.

During the winter months, however, the trips were less frequent, so they usually stocked up in advance to prepare for the harsh weather.

Our travel group consisted of me, Sir Edward, and six other Familia members who were all Level 1 adventurers—including Jason, the same villager I had met before.

Everyone was well-prepared, armed, and mounted on horses, ready to depart.

The morning sun had barely risen, and the faint golden light reflected off the dew-covered fields as we gathered near the village gate.

Before we could depart, Jason came forward, looking slightly nervous but with an earnest expression.

"Sir, I'd like to thank you again for saving me that day," he said sincerely, his voice carrying a tone of gratitude that was almost excessive.

I sighed lightly and replied with a helpless smile, "You've already thanked me a dozen times, Jason. Enough with this already!"

We both ended up laughing at that, breaking the tension for a moment.

As I turned to glance toward the edge of the road, I saw Goddess Aurora standing there with her usual smile, having come to wish us good luck on our journey.

Beside her stood Maria, who seemed to be fidgeting nervously for some reason.

Her hands kept clutching the hem of her dress, and she wouldn't quite meet my eyes.

'Don't tell me...?' I thought in slight panic, imagining she might actually try to confess or propose to me again right here before everyone. I prepared myself mentally for the worst possible scenario.

But before I could say anything, Maria suddenly bowed deeply and spoke in a loud, clear voice, "I apologize!"

Her unexpected action made me freeze for a moment, and I blinked in surprise.

I looked at her carefully as she continued speaking in a sincere tone, "I disturbed you so many times before… and even pestered you unnecessarily! Please, forgive me for my rudeness, Sir!"

I was silent for a second, then smiled faintly and said, "Fine. It seems you've finally learned your lesson, Maria."

She winced slightly at my teasing tone, then glanced at Jason, who stood beside her smiling kindly.

"Thank you, Sir, for forgiving someone as foolish as me!" she said, returning to her usual lively self again.

That cheerful reaction immediately made both Jason and Goddess Aurora laugh heartily, while I could only shake my head helplessly.

Somehow, even in such moments, this village never failed to surprise me.

"I wish you good luck, Ember!" Goddess Aurora said brightly, flashing her usual confident smile.

Before I could even respond, she suddenly leaned in and placed a quick kiss on my cheek.

My eyes widened slightly at the unexpected gesture as she stepped back, chuckling mischievously.

"Hehe, don't you dare forget your poor Goddess while you're out there!" she teased with a sly grin that only she could pull off so naturally.

Everyone around us froze for a second, their mouths hanging wide open in complete disbelief.

You could almost hear the collective gasp ripple through the group.

I internally sighed, 'I guess she doesn't kiss her Familia members after they grow up… yeah, that explains their reaction.'

I simply smiled and nodded respectfully toward her, offering a small wave as my farewell.

After all, it wasn't like I could say anything in response to that public display.

Once everything was settled, I turned my horse and began to ride forward with the rest of the group.

Not long after we left the village gate, Jason, who had been riding beside me, turned with an astonished expression and exclaimed, "Damn! Goddess actually kissed you!"

His tone carried both amazement and disbelief, like he had just witnessed a miracle unfold right before his eyes.

I rolled my eyes slightly and replied calmly, "It's not that big of a deal, Jason. We're like children to her—she probably sees us all that way."

I shrugged it off as casually as possible, not wanting to fuel whatever rumor was already forming in their minds.

However, another one of the Familia members—an older guy riding just behind us—chimed in loudly, clearly not willing to let the topic drop.

"You don't get it, Tithonus!" he said, leaning forward in excitement.

"Sure, the Goddess kissed us when we were kids—on the forehead or cheek, you know, back when we were small. But ever since we grew up, she's never done that! Not even once! Not even to the girls! She always says kisses like that are reserved for her destined soulmate!"

He gestured dramatically as he spoke, clearly exaggerating but still convinced that this was a monumental event.

I couldn't help but chuckle at their reactions, finding the entire conversation both amusing and slightly ridiculous.

The idea of Goddess Aurora falling in love with me was absurd—at least for now.

I wouldn't deny that she was beautiful, charming, and dangerously unpredictable, but I seriously doubted that she saw me in that kind of way.

Maybe someday, things might be different, but for the moment, it was just the Goddess being her usual playful self.

Choosing not to comment further on the matter, I focused on the road ahead instead.

The rhythmic sound of hooves hitting the dirt path filled the air as our horses galloped steadily, the morning sun slowly climbing higher into the sky.

The wind brushed against my face, carrying the faint scent of the village that was now fading into the distance behind us.

And just like that, our journey had officially begun.

To be continued…
