Chapter 358 - The Stubborn Faora

No, no, still no.

Thea flipped through Kryptonian records spanning tens of thousands of years regarding Doomsday. Countless scientists had once tried to control Doomsday, hoping to use this bio-weapon for themselves. Genetic modification, cellular manipulation, targeted therapy—every method Thea could think of, and many she had never even seen, had been tested on Doomsday one by one.

But without exception, all these attempts failed. Scientists dared not let Doomsday's cells grow unchecked. With no other choice, they all chose to seal him in the Phantom Zone. Over tens of thousands of years, Doomsday had revived twice. Although Kryptonians back then didn't possess the power Superman had now, they still discovered his weakness: Kryptonite. Both times, they solved the Doomsday problem by throwing wave after wave of soldiers at him.

The ancient Kryptonian god, Rao, once left a prophecy: Doomsday will eventually see the light of day again. To prevent history from repeating itself, the Kryptonian High Council originally planned to destroy all data. However, to leave information on Doomsday for future generations, they ultimately chose to seal it away.

Resurrecting Doomsday required three conditions: Doomsday's cells, a Kryptonian corpse, and Kryptonian genetic modulation technology.

Now, Doomsday's cells happened to have been brought out by Zod and the others exiled to the Phantom Zone; the cells were there. As for Kryptonian corpses, besides General Zod, there were four more than in the original timeline. There might even be fragmented bodies from the ship explosion; it was really hard to count.

Thea held all the genetic modulation technology in her hands. When she extracted the data, she had been extremely crude—it was less like "copying" and more like "cutting and pasting." Coupled with the ship crash, a generous estimate would be that the military recovered maybe ten percent of the data.

Even that ten percent was tattered and incomplete. Some parts had conclusions but no derivation process; others had causes but no results. For Earth's scientists to deduce anything from these fragments would be almost impossible.

Thea had tentatively proposed participating in the research of alien technology, but the military's intent to deflect was obvious. Only when they couldn't research anything would they allow outsiders like Thea and Luthor to enter. As for Superman wanting to participate? Wait until all Earthlings are dead first.

Everything returned to the right track. The citizens of Metropolis had recovered from the sudden change. Official data stated over a thousand victims, but Thea controlled the Medical Pods; according to the most conservative estimate, the death toll wouldn't be lower than five thousand, with tens of thousands missing.

All of that blame had been dumped on Superman; it had nothing to do with her. Every now and then, she rushed to the alien planet where Faora's memory modification had reached the final stage.

Initially, it went very smoothly. The image of General Zod in Faora's heart gradually turned into an elder, a relative. Subconsciously, she didn't reject this scenario. But when it came to replacing the Object of Allegiance, Thea felt strong resistance. Faora's sense of identification with her was truly low.

Thea refused to admit defeat. She continued to increase the magical output, determined to subdue her.

On the first day of the coma, Faora subconsciously lost her object of allegiance and was filled with confusion. Thea took advantage of the opening; the effect was remarkable.

But on the second day, a sudden mutation occurred. Faora actually subconsciously supplied a new 'commander'. And it wasn't just anyone—it was Thea's old acquaintance, that boy scout Clark Kent!

Holy crap! Do you even know him?! Why pledge loyalty to him? In the original timeline, they at least fought once. But in this world, Faora only saw him once when Superman surrendered. They weren't familiar at all, right?!

I bust my ass for days just to train a subordinate for someone else? Thea wasn't that selfless. The magic continued without stopping!

Day three was worse. Perhaps Faora really didn't have a deep impression of Superman; the thought of loyalty came quickly and went quickly. But inexplicably, a mission to continue the Kryptonian race appeared in her mind. This sounded great and noble, but Faora's subconscious method of continuing the Kryptonian mission was... to have Superman's babies!

Thea almost choked. Just thinking about that image made her irritable. This is even worse than her pledging loyalty to Superman!

Helpless, Thea could only wake Faora up. To get her wholehearted assistance, she had to shatter Faora's worldview. Breaking an Earthling's worldview was too easy—just dragging them to an alien planet for a spin would do. Although dealing with this Kryptonian was a bit troublesome, there were ways.

"Where is this?" Thea withdrew the magic from Faora's mind. The Kryptonian's powerful self-healing played its role; she soon sat up, looked at the purple sky outside, and asked somewhat uncertainly.

"If Krypton and Earth are in a 'southern' spiral, this is far to the 'west'. It's a planet in Sector 1125. At the speed of your Kryptonian ship, it would take about 812 years to get back..." Thea answered with her arms crossed. It was good news that the opponent didn't immediately scream for blood and murder.

"The General and the others?" Faora's voice returned to calmness, as if asking about something unrelated to herself.

"General Zod was a true warrior. He was born on the battlefield and died on the battlefield." Having studied Kryptonian genetic modulation recently, reading between the lines gave Thea some understanding of Kryptonian customs.

For someone like Zod, who was a soldier from birth, dying on the battlefield was definitely more glorious than dying at home. Especially since he was of the same generation as Superman's father and was getting on in years. The destruction of the planet and the continuation of the race had pressed on his heart for years. Being able to die in battle really wasn't a bad thing for him.

"Is that so? He died in battle..." Faora was silent for a moment. "You want me to pledge loyalty to you? Apologies, I don't see any ability in you that can help me restore Krypton's glory. You can kill me, but I won't serve you."

"Hehe, Faora, I once said you were short-sighted. That hasn't changed at all. You don't understand the true nature of this world. Do you want to go see it?" Thea said with a faint smile, like a devil tempting the human heart.

Surprisingly, Faora was actually hooked by her words. The True Nature of the World! It sounded grand and profound. But where was this thing? Could she see it?

"I... I want to see. I have sailed the universe for many years and conquered countless planets. You're the biggest braggart I've ever met." Faora finished speaking and looked at her seriously.

"Go. To space." Thea walked out first. Faora thought for a moment and followed.

Once in space, Thea opened a wormhole directly, taking Faora on a long-distance journey.

When they crossed the sixteenth wormhole, the surroundings were dead silent. It was like walking into a desert of civilization; no intelligent planets could be found, not a single sign of life. Faora couldn't hold it in anymore. "Where are you taking me?"

"The End of the World. The Edge of the Universe!"

Continuous large-scale teleportation consumed a lot of her Ring Energy. She hadn't even been to this area herself. Up, down, left, right, front, back—it was all void. Only her Yellow Lantern Ring still emitted a little light, allowing the two to see each other.
