Chapter 341 - The God Who Never Struck

The giant himself was over three meters tall. Sitting at the highest point in the cave, looking down on them from above, he felt annoyed that they didn't kneel and tremble like the natives. He slowly stood up. Many unknown patterns were engraved on his blue body; the static electricity radiating from these patterns kept the cave from being pitch black.

"Your tragic fates have long been destined. You..." The giant stood up but didn't attack immediately. Waving his massive arms; anyone who didn't know better would think he was giving a speech.

"Cut the crap! Get him!"

Thea had been observing since entering the cave. Combining this with the glorious history in the original timeline where this guy was taken down by just a dozen of Amanda Waller's agents, he didn't look strong no matter how she looked at him. Hearing him still chattering nonsense, she felt annoyed and didn't bother guessing his abilities. She flung her hand out, throwing a Construct Chain to bind the giant's feet.

Thea's thinking wasn't complex: limit the opponent's speed first when their abilities are unknown. After all, her teammates—a dead man, a gorilla, and a rookie plant-controller—weren't exactly built to be meat shields who could tank damage. Grodd looked like he had a big frame, but strictly speaking, he was a Caster-type... so fighting at range was the prudent method.

The first to respond to her command was Poison Ivy. She controlled countless plants. Just a second slower than Thea, overwhelming vegetation wrapped the giant tightly. Several strange-looking plants even spewed out purple and red gases.

Poison Ivy's starting point for her debut battle was a bit high. She didn't spare any plant consumption, spraying out every toxin she had: neurotoxins, hemotoxins, paralytic agents, hallucinogens. She might not even be clear on the characteristics of many of these plants herself, but she dumped them all right in the giant's face. The originally majestic blue face was turned green by the spray.

Just as an angry expression appeared on the giant's face, he fell into a daze. Grodd's Mind Control followed immediately on the heels of the poison.

Deadman was slightly slower than Grodd. He instant-cast a Fear Spell, then went directly to possess the body.

The giant's legs were bound by chains, his upper body was tied tight by plants. In the spiritual world, Grodd was desperately controlling him, and Deadman was trying hard to squeeze into his body. Fear was disintegrating his resistance, plant toxins were paralyzing his body, and his mental resistance grew weaker and weaker.

Holy crap... Thea was a bit stunned. Her squad's strength was formidable. Everyone on her squad had some kind of crowd-control ability. This guy, who blew so much hot air, had absolutely no ability to fight back.

However, they lacked a proper tank and a real damage dealer. She would need to put some effort into that area in the future.

"Say... I don't need to go in, right?" Slade, holding two long swords, looked in the giant's direction with lingering fear. Poison Ivy was still controlling the plants to spew poison; the air was glowing green. No matter how he looked at it, those gases didn't seem to have body-strengthening effects.

"Poison Ivy, stop spraying." Thea hurriedly stopped Poison Ivy, whose brain was a bit hyper-excited. Even though Thea had eaten the Earth Fruit, she didn't dare say she was completely immune to these messy gases. Let alone Slade and Grodd. This wasn't a game; friendly fire couldn't be ignored.

"Huff... huff..." Poison Ivy quickly stopped. This round of violent spraying placed a considerable burden on her body as well. Stopping her offensive, she rested her hands on her knees, gasping for breath.

Thea watched from her spot. The Demon Sword's absorption process was indiscriminate; it would be troublesome if Poison Ivy's toxins were absorbed by Thea herself. She waited a while until the opponent's body turned from green back to blue. Thea knew this was the body's instinctual reaction; although the giant's soul was controlled, his bodily instincts were rejecting the plant toxins.

Opportunity! Thea took out the Demon Sword and charged forward with large strides.

The Demon Sword unsheathed, drawing a flash of light in the pitch-black cave. The ridge of the blade glowed with a gloomy red light. It could sense part of Thea's intent and was also very excited at the prospect of tasting God Blood.

Pfft. With a muffled sound, the Demon Sword stabbed straight into the place where the giant's heart was suspected to be.

"Only this much divine power?" Thea felt the divine power transmitted by the Demon Sword with her heart. Tiny, weak, and intermittent.

She was very dissatisfied. She pulled out the sword and stabbed three more times in succession. A deep blue, fist-sized mass of divine power, like a ball of water, settled into her body.

"Weakling!!" By the time Thea stabbed the fifth time, she could absorb nothing more. She turned to look at Grodd.

The gorilla made a gesture of stroking his chin, his voice transmitting into her mind. "Either this guy suddenly had a massive increase in mental cultivation and resisted my mind control, or he died..."

Deadman also floated out. "This guy should be dead? His soul has dissipated..."

Too weak! Thea could only come to this conclusion. Perhaps this guy had some strength or speed enhancements, but he couldn't be that strong. He shouted fiercely, but perhaps he was just a braggart powerhouse.

"My subordinates reported that A.R.G.U.S. agents have arrived at the US military base in Hawaii." Slade took a phone call. Feeling he hadn't helped in the fight, he reported this a bit too dutifully, almost like a lackey trying to prove his worth.

Thea carefully assessed the extracted divine power. She really didn't know if she could extract water-attribute magic power from this. But since A.R.G.U.S. was here, they had to retreat.

"Erase all traces of our battle. As for the footprints on the way here—Deathstroke, you're the top-tier reconnaissance expert. You handle that." Actually, no intense battle had really occurred here; the opponent died without firing a single shot!

The key issue was Poison Ivy's plants. Many were obviously not Hawaiian flora and had to be cleaned up.

Instructing Deathstroke and Poison Ivy to clean up traces outside and inside the cave respectively, Thea directed Grodd and Deadman to search the vicinity for any good items. She herself focused on dealing with the Shark God's corpse.

"Tsk tsk. Looking quite big, but why are you so useless?" Thea flipped the corpse over and checked it for a long time. The patterns on this guy's body could be researched, but other than that, there was no value. Horus counted as a top-tier second-rate god. This guy wasn't even rated.

"Take it back. If it really doesn't work, chop it up and add it to the Elk and the Little Heifer's meals..." Thea thought it over repeatedly but couldn't think of any use for the corpse, so she awkwardly stored it in her spatial ring.

"I caught a captive! But this guy has very low intelligence." Grodd's voice rang out. He walked over, clutching a fish-man less than a meter tall.

The fish-man had a shark-shaped head and a humanoid body, looking at these intruders while trembling in fear.

Thea observed him with the Eye of Horus. This guy also had a bit of divine power in his body, though it was even fainter than the guy who just died.

This must be the future King Shark of the Suicide Squad, right? From an ordinary person's perspective, he would be considered powerful once grown up. Killing him now would be a bit of a pity. His intelligence wasn't high; he would make a good hand for guarding the door.

Thea waved her hand grandly. "Take him away!"
