Chapter 325 - Pursuit

She'd thought it would be a sumptuous feast, but it turned out to be poison, and her mood crashed. Thea's gloom was unspeakable. Injecting Fire attribute mana into the Godslayer Sword, she unleashed a flurry of chops, stabs, and slashes at Enchantress.

Unaware of Thea's disdain, Enchantress was surprised to see her put away the Demon Sword. Seeing her pull out a fiery red longsword immediately after, she had no time to think and could only cope with difficulty.

The two exchanged another seven or eight moves. Enchantress's martial arts were truly mediocre, but her teleportation indeed deserved the description "appearing and disappearing like a ghost." Unlike that day when she needed to rely on her own dispersed mana, having regained her body, she could now teleport to wherever her gaze fell with almost no mana cost.

Clang—! With a loud noise, the manifested demon god unleashed a massive ring of fire centered on itself, wiping out all the shadow creatures in one blast, then strode over to join the fight.

Facing just Thea, Enchantress was already no match. Adding this demon composed of unknown substance, she was even less capable. She hurriedly dodged a sword strike from Thea, but ran headfirst into the demon god's bone-spurred tail.

Smack! With a crisp sound, the immense force whipped her face out of shape. While she was mid-air with her mind blank, Thea seized this golden opportunity. Pfft! One sword stabbed into her back and pierced out through the front.

Enchantress executed three short-range teleports in succession, dodging Thea's follow-up combo. Half-kneeling on the ground, supporting her body with both hands, she vomited mouthfuls of black blood. She wasn't Ares or Parallax; she couldn't use energy to restore a damaged body. She hadn't suffered such heavy injuries in hundreds of years. The Fire attribute mana attached to the Godslayer Sword was also constantly eroding her body, destroying the mana circulation within her.

Clutching her wound, she stared at Thea with emerald green eyes. Just as Thea thought she was brewing some ultimate move, she saw her dissipate before her eyes like smoke.

"Teleported again?" But Thea quickly discovered the opponent didn't appear around her—she had run!

Opening the Eye of Horus to track the direction where the opponent's mana vanished, she soon found Enchantress's figure two kilometers away. The injury from that sword strike earlier was far heavier than she imagined; the shattered mana circulation meant she could no longer perform long-distance teleportation.

Enchantress also realized this problem. Although she didn't have the super-long vision of the Eye of Horus, she was extremely sensitive to mana. She could sense Thea's gaze searching for her!

Glancing around the battlefield, she spotted Deadshot and Rick Flag trading fire not far away. Rick, who originally had seven or eight subordinates, was being beaten into agony by Deadshot. Although they were elite soldiers, Deadshot's marksmanship was far superior to theirs. Using feints and misdirection, Deadshot had already killed four of Rick's men in less than ten minutes of firefight. The remaining few, including Rick Flag, were struggling to hold on.

Entering the battlefield, Enchantress quickly judged the situation. With a teleport, she moved to kill Deadshot. Afterwards, relying on these few soldiers might slightly hinder Thea's pursuit.

Years of mercenary life amidst bullets and rain had honed Deadshot's amazing intuition. Although he didn't see any danger, he still performed a forward roll in advance, dodging the head-on slash from Enchantress, who had teleported to his side.

Realizing he was ambushed, he didn't even look at who it was. Raising both hands, the silenced pistols on his wrists opened fire frantically at the target.

Enchantress finally found some pleasure in bullying the weak. Her heart was indescribably refreshed. Moving like a ghost, she flashed left and right around Deadshot. In less than three seconds, Deadshot had been hit by two slashes, and a third slash was blocked by his wrist guard.

"Bullying those without magic—you're quite proud of yourself, aren't you!" Thea finally caught up after rushing. Her spatial magic was only at a novice level; teleporting others was fine, but teleporting herself felt too dangerous...

Back at the square, watching the approaching fire tornado, Thea had delayed a little bit. There were still thousands of unconscious people on the square. Raising her hand, she created a reverse-direction tornado to counter the fire tornado, changing its course. It looked impressive and worked great on large groups, but against a single target it was pretty inefficient. She would have to use it with discretion next time...

Canceling the manifestation, Thea chased rapidly. Seeing Enchantress's blade only a few centimeters from Deadshot's neck, she raised her hand and slapped out with Mage Hand. Her mana was now several times stronger than that day; this kind of low-level spell was instant-cast. An invisible giant hand slammed into Deadshot's stomach, knocking him back five or six meters.

"Thanks a lot! Could you hit any harder?!" Deadshot clutched his stomach, stumbling as he climbed up, shouting through gritted teeth at Thea. This hit was different from the one used against Katana at the Department of Defense; Thea had held back then. Now, used on Deadshot, that hit had nearly ruptured his insides.

"You're welcome!" Thea followed up with a downward slash. Enchantress wanted to teleport away, but Thea had already locked onto her. The freeze gun didn't stop for a moment, spraying in an endless stream, as if ammo were free.

Enchantress's teleportation action was only half complete when her left hand was frozen. Thea's spraying angle was very tricky; a huge icicle connected her hand to the ground. Enchantress struggled twice but couldn't break free.

Seeing Thea's freeze gun beginning to hiss again—having fought several times, she now knew this gun had a startup issue before operating, but this gap was very short. The time left for her to think was just over a second.

She made a prompt decision. Raising the long knife in her right hand, she chopped down at her own left arm.

Pfft! Her left hand was chopped off directly below the elbow. Fortunately, the blood in her vessels was nearly frozen, and the temperature at the wound was very low; apart from losing a hand, the other damage wasn't significant.

Enchantress didn't dare look back and chose to teleport directly.

WTF, such determination! Thea also admired her a bit. The freeze gun's cooldown was only one second. Making this decision in such a short time wasn't easy; after all, damage to her body was permanent.

But the enemy had run right under her nose; she still had to chase. Just as she was about to fly up, she saw Rick Flag go mad, tying four or five grenades together and throwing them over.

In her haste, she manifested a yellow protective shield, withstanding the violent explosion.

"You're courting death!" Thea stared directly at Rick Flag. This man committed treason for his lover, and now he didn't even want his life?

Almost no one could stay unafraid under her soul-stealing gaze. Rick Flag was human; naturally, he was afraid too. But maybe because his heart was filled with a love he'd built up in his own imagination, that intense emotion blunted part of the fear, and his own willpower withstood the rest.

Rick Flag was extremely silent. Raising the M4A1 in his hands, he swept fire at Thea as if his life depended on it. Then he saw the yellow-clad person opposite him raise a finger. A golden beam of light came closer and closer to his eyes. Like a sharp arrow, the yellow light penetrated his skin, penetrated his skull, and then he knew nothing more.

With Rick Flag dead in an instant, Thea raised her hand, ignoring Deadshot's pained expression, and helped him finish off the last two soldiers who were still firing. Her gaze scanned, found Enchantress's location, and she flew directly into the sky to pursue, leaving Deadshot on the ground still clutching his stomach.
