"Nah...it's okay. You don't need to apologize...none of us were expecting any extra backup, after all. That Monster was crazy strong, though, I had to hedge my bets on one final shot, it was literally all or nothing. Speaking of which, did you see it?" She asked me with a smile.
"I got to this spot right as you erupted into flames, and then, in the blink of an eye, the Monster was dead and the ground was melted. I didn't even see you move, there was a bright, fiery flash, and the next thing I knew, it was over. I take it that's the thing you've been working on in secret?" I responded, as I sat on the ground and set her on my lap, resting her head against my chest.
