Chapter 236: The Trial Mission
Roy walked slowly into the training ground, instantly attracting everyone's attention.
Sunlight fell on his shoulders, highlighting the unruly smile on his chiseled face.
The next second—
"BIG BROTHER ROY!!!" A figure lunged at him violently!
Luffy jumped up abruptly like he did when he was little, hanging directly onto Roy, a pure smile blossoming on his face. "I missed you so much!!!"
Roy chuckled, catching him steadily. His hand landed on the messy black hair, ruffling it gently.
"Long time no see~ Grown so tall in just a year? And daring enough to challenge Teacher Zephyr in public?"
Luffy grinned foolishly, scratching the back of his head. "Shishishi, I'm a hundred times stronger than before!"
Ace stood aside with hands in his pockets, grinning widely. "Big Brother Roy, this kid is cocky now. He almost flipped the entire training ground just now!"
Zoro crossed his arms, huffing lightly. "Still far from enough... but finally somewhat decent."
Kuina stood sideways next to him, smiling gently and shaking her head. "Zoro, you were staring the hardest just now, and now you're acting cool."
"Hmph..." Zoro blushed slightly, turning his head away decisively.
Nami walked up with hands on hips, her pretty face showing helplessness. "Big Brother Roy, this guy turned Headquarters upside down as soon as he got back. He nearly ate the entire cafeteria!"
Nojiko stood beside her, tone full of relief. "But you can tell... he really improved a lot during this time."
Not far away, Sanji and Usopp stared blankly at the scene before them.
Sanji, cigarette dangling from his mouth, couldn't help but whisper, "This aura... it's like he's the boss of all the monster brats in the Marines..."
Usopp nodded frantically, expression complex. "No, he's the boss of bosses! The kind of level where no one dares provoke him just by standing there!!"
While the two whispered, a familiar and hearty laugh rang out from behind:
"HAHAHAHA! Don't you two newcomers know?"
They turned around in unison to see Zephyr walking over carrying his coat, his gaze full of pride and heroism:
"These little monsters were almost all raised by Roy single-handedly!"
"NANI?!!"
Sanji and Usopp's jaws nearly hit the floor, eyes bulging out.
Roy smiled, gently putting Luffy down.
Behind him, Law stepped forward slowly. With a wave of his hand, his signature "ROOM" instantly expanded in the center of the training ground, a pale blue sphere covering Luffy entirely.
"BUZZ—"
Within that spatial fluctuation, the bruises and wounds on Luffy's body healed rapidly. Damaged muscle fibers were restored to their original state at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Luffy paused, then tried twisting his arm. A brilliant smile immediately bloomed on his face.
"Wow! Doesn't hurt at all! Thanks, Law!!"
Law's expression remained as cold as ever, tone calm and casual. "Just a small matter."
Out of the corner of her eye, Nami suddenly noticed a small, furry head peeking out from behind Roy.
It was a small reindeer, only half the height of a person. Its blue nose glistened in the sunlight. Wearing a small hat, it looked nervous, tail curled into a ball.
Nami's eyes lit up instantly. She let out a surprised squeal like she had discovered treasure: "WAAAH!! Such a cute little reindeer!!!"
She trotted over, crouching down and scooping Chopper up into a hug, burying her cheek into that soft fur. "Big Brother Roy! Is this a pet you brought back? So soft and fragrant!"
Suddenly hugged, Chopper froze completely. Ears flapping in panic, face flushing red, small hooves stiff in mid-air like wood.
"UWAAH!!!"
Nojiko walked over upon hearing the noise, eyes sparkling. "Wow... really so cute! First time seeing a reindeer at Marine Headquarters!"
Kuina couldn't help but approach too, poking Chopper's blue nose tip gently with her finger, a rare smile appearing on her face.
"Feels so nice... like a snowball."
"WAAAAAAHHHH—!!!"
Chopper panicked completely. Teary-eyed, small short hooves waving wildly, voice sharp and crying: "L-Let me go!!! I'm not a pet!!!"
"...?!!"
The scene fell silent instantly. Everyone froze.
"Just now... did this little reindeer talk?!"
"NANI?! A TALKING REINDEER?!!"
Luffy and Ace ran over quickly, surrounding Chopper with shining eyes.
"Wow! So magical!" Luffy almost pressed his face against Chopper's. "Is it a reindeer monster?!"
Ace stroked his chin, observing Chopper seriously. "No... maybe a Zoan Devil Fruit user?!"
Surrounded by everyone, Chopper panicked like a little chick. He looked at Law pitifully, pointing a trembling hoof at himself, voice shaking:
"Law... s-save me..."
Law sighed from the side, walking over slowly and speaking softly. "Put him down first."
Only then did Nami carefully place Chopper on the ground.
Chopper immediately curled into a ball like a furball, hiding behind Law shivering, only exposing half an ear and that blue nose tip.
Seeing this, Roy couldn't help but laugh loudly, bending down to pat Chopper's little head. "Haha, don't scare him."
He turned to face everyone. "Come, let me formally introduce him."
"This is Chopper."
"Starting today, he is our Marine Doctor."
"MARINE DOCTOR?!!"
Everyone sucked in a cold breath simultaneously, frozen in shock like statues.
"NANI?!! A little reindeer... is a military doctor?!!"
Nami, Nojiko, and Kuina looked at each other, a gleam flashing in their eyes simultaneously, as if suddenly developing a strong interest in this blue-nosed reindeer.
Luffy crouched lower, meeting Chopper's eyes, his own bright as stars. "Little Chopper, can you really treat illnesses?!"
Ace patted Luffy's shoulder, whispering, "This little guy doesn't look simple."
Stared at by so many people, Chopper's face turned red as a ripe apple. Shrinking behind Law, teary-eyed but nodding vigorously: "I-I am a super amazing doctor!!!"
The training ground exploded at this moment. Exclamations, laughter, and discussions rose one after another.
Roy looked around, gaze sweeping slowly across each young yet fearless face.
Luffy, Ace, Zoro, Kuina, Nami, Nojiko, Sanji, Usopp...
In their eyes, there was a desire for strength, and endless longing for the future.
Wind brushed across the training ground, kicking up a trace of dust. Roy's lips curved up slightly. "Since everyone is here..."
He paused, gaze sweeping over everyone one by one. "It's time to set a real Trial Mission for you all."
"TRIAL MISSION?!!"
Everyone exclaimed almost simultaneously. The atmosphere heated up abruptly, battle intent ignited thoroughly in everyone's hearts!
Ace raised his palm first, flames dancing between his fingers, a familiar battle-hungry smile on his face. "Finally coming, huh..."
Zoro hooked up the corner of his mouth, slowly resting his hand on his sword hilt, gaze sharp as a blade. "Just what I wanted."
Kuina brushed her sideburns lightly, lips curling. "Looks like it won't be boring for a while."
Nami crossed her arms, sighing lightly. "Sigh... I have a feeling I'll be cleaning up a bunch of messes again..."
Nojiko just watched Ace gently, instructing softly, "Be careful, don't push yourself too hard."
Usopp's legs trembled slightly, but he forced his back straight. "I-I have no problem either! After all, I am a brave warrior of the sea... right?"
Sanji flicked away his cigarette butt, exhaling a puff of smoke. "As long as I can get stronger... I'm in all the way."
Finally, Luffy's eyes shone brilliantly, sparks seemingly dancing within. He clenched his fist, raising it high, voice resounding clearly over the training ground:
"BIG BROTHER ROY!!"
"I WILL DEFINITELY BECOME THE STRONGEST MARINE!!!"
Under the sunlight, everyone's shadows were stretched long, but their momentum rose infinitely in this moment.
