Chapter 228 - Chapter 228: Dawn of the Drum Kingdom

Chapter 228: Dawn of the Drum Kingdom

Drum Kingdom · Castle

"TRASH!! USELESS TRASH!!!"

Deafening roars echoed through the throne room. The magnificent golden throne trembled violently under the shaking of a massive, bloated figure.

Wapol's face was twisted with ferocity. He grabbed a golden goblet from the table and hurled it viciously at the soldiers kneeling on the floor. Wine splashed everywhere as the goblet clattered across the cold floor tiles.

"You can't even catch one tiny blue-nosed reindeer?! Are you bunch of losers just for decoration?!!"

The soldiers kept their heads pressed to the tiles, fists clenched under their armor, but not one dared to make a sound.

King? He's nothing but a tyrant maintaining stability through fear.

The people are dying, yet all he cares about is his authority and face...

Amidst the oppressive silence, the palace doors were slammed open with a BANG. A panicked figure stumbled into the hall.

"Y-Your Majesty!! Disaster!!!"

It was Staff Officer Cromarimo, forehead drenched in sweat, his voice trembling with terror:

"Dr. Kureha—she... she is practicing medicine publicly in the Central Plaza!!!"

"And... half the kingdom's sick have rushed there!! The queue goes right out of the plaza!!!"

"WHAT?!" Wapol shot up, the throne creaking under his movement.

"That old hag dares to openly challenge my ban?!!"

He was apoplectic with rage, the fat on his body trembling. His eyes burned with naked fury and humiliation:

"Is she trying to start a rebellion?! Or do you lot just want to see me made a fool of?!!"

"Men!! Assemble the Royal Guard! Follow me to the plaza!! I will publicly execute those peasants who dare defy the King's orders!!!"

Drum Kingdom · Central Plaza

The wind and snow persisted, yet today, the plaza was unusually lively.

atop the thick snow, a temporary medical zone built from tents and wooden planks was bustling. A long, winding queue stretched far back.

Coughing elders, feverish children, injured miners... faces that had long been filled with despair now held the light of hope.

Chopper stood on his tiptoes to bandage a child's arm. He was careful and serious. Though his mouth was purple from the cold, he still tried his best to smile.

"Doctorine... are we really okay doing this?" he asked softly, his hooves trembling slightly as he held the bandage.

Dr. Kureha, who was stitching a wound while heartily swigging liquor, glanced at him.

"Relax, Chopper."

She glanced at Law, who was patiently treating patients nearby, then swept her gaze to Roy, who was sitting on a bench not far away, eyes closed in a nap. A characteristic, confident sneer curled her lips:

"The world's strongest Marine is right beside us, after all!"

"RUMBLE—!!!"

The heavy city gates crashed open, shaking the snowy ground!

Wapol led hundreds of fully armed soldiers charging aggressively into the plaza. Capes fluttering, armor shining blindingly under the snow's reflection.

"STOP THIS AT ONCE!!!"

His roar exploded like thunder. In an instant, the entire plaza fell into dead silence.

Patients huddled together in fear, trembling. Some children shrank directly into their mothers' arms, but not a single person fled the medical tents.

Chopper stopped his work, eyes wide, staring at the vicious army with terror.

Wapol sat high on his mount, looking down at the crowd with a livid face, his scepter pointing straight ahead.

"You dare practice medicine under my ban?! Dr. Kureha! You old witch!!"

"Kneel and confess immediately, and I might grant you an intact corpse!!!"

Dr. Kureha stood up, dusted the blood off her hands, took a swig of strong alcohol, and huffed a laugh.

"Hahahaha, Wapol, you haven't changed a bit."

"Even at this stage, haven't you seen the situation clearly?"

"Situation?!" Wapol roared in exasperation. "On my land, I am the situation!"

"Soldiers! Kill—"

Before his voice could fall.

"SWISH—!"

A figure flashed, and an irresistible pressure descended abruptly.

The next second, Roy was standing silently in front of Wapol.

He slowly opened his eyes. His pitch-black pupils reflected that bloated, terrified face.

Roy spoke softly, his tone as cold as the night wind on a snowy mountain: "Tell me—"

"Whose King did you say you were?"

"BANG—!!!"

Accompanied by a deafening noise, Wapol's several-hundred-pound body was sent flying like a ragged sack. He smashed through the stone walls and iron fences at the edge of the plaza, sending gravel flying and kicking up a massive cloud of snow dust!

The entire venue fell into deathly silence.

The soldiers looked at each other, fear and shock intermingling.

Chopper widened his eyes and whispered, "Is... is he dead?"

"Doesn't matter if he's dead." Kureha clicked her tongue, a look of extreme satisfaction on her face. "What matters is, finally, no one can stop us from saving people."

"CRASH—!!!"

Rubble shifted. Wapol's body squirmed in the ruins as he struggled wretchedly to get up.

His face was swollen like a fermented pig's head—black and blue, blood at the corner of his mouth, crown askew, cape tattered. He looked like a pile of fat dumped in the snow.

"Who... WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!!"

He roared hysterically, spittle flying: "You dare strike me?! I am a King recognized by the World Government!!!"

"You dare attack a King?! You will be wanted, judged, executed—"

Saying this, he turned his head violently to scream at the frozen soldiers: "What are you standing there for?! KILL HIM!!! TEAR HIM TO PIECES!!!"

The soldiers exchanged glances, fear and hesitation flashing in their eyes. But years of oppression made them subconsciously raise their weapons.

"BUZZ—!!!"

An indescribable pressure instantly swept across the field!

Roy's gaze turned abruptly cold. Conqueror's Haki erupted like a violent storm, sweeping through the plaza!

"BOOM—!!!"

The air oscillated violently, the snowy ground cracking instantly. The shockwave flipped the soldiers several meters into the air!

Hundreds of soldiers rolled their eyes back, foaming at the mouth, and collapsed in unison. Weapons clattered to the ground, forming a scrap metal mountain.

Miraculously, the patients in the tents were unharmed, merely stepping back in fear, their eyes filled with shock and awe.

Chopper's eyes were wide as saucers. "Wh... what is this aura...!"

Dr. Kureha bit the rim of her bottle, eyes gleaming. "As expected of him..."

Wapol's face was now ashen pale. He trembled all over, lips twitching, yet he still tried to hold on!

"I... I am the King... I have weapons!! I have power!!!"

"Munch-Munch: CANNON FORM!!!"

He opened his giant mouth. His mouth instantly transformed into a pitch-black cannon barrel. A black-purple cannonball condensed in the depths as he roared furiously: "DIE!!!"

"BOOM—!!!"

The cannonball whistled out, carrying a roar that tore through the air, flying straight at Roy!

Roy's eyes were calm as water. He raised one hand—

SMACK.

As if swatting a fly, he casually slapped the cannonball away. The shell exploded in mid-air, flames and shockwaves blooming into a lotus of fire!

Amidst the firelight, his figure vanished abruptly—

"SWISH!"

The next instant, he appeared like a ghost in front of Wapol. One hand clamped around Wapol's throat, lifting his entire body off the ground like a dead pig!

"If your life didn't still have a little value..."

"Do you think you'd still be alive right now?"
