Ange fetched a plate, filled it to the brim with rice and dishes, and placed it in front of Pawmi.
"Here, eat up," Ange said.
Paw paw~
Pawmi cheered and buried its head in the plate, eating ravenously.
Despite its small body, its appetite was extraordinary. Before long, it had finished the entire plate of food, licking it so clean it gleamed as if it had just been washed.
Paw paw~ Another serving.
Pawmi extended the empty plate toward Ange.
"Alright, alright," Ange replied, taking the plate and filling it up again.
At that moment, Nacli hopped over. It still had a major grievance against Pawmi and glared at it with unfriendly eyes.
Ange took Nacli's plate, refilled it with food, and said, "Nacli, what Pawmi did was wrong. I apologize on its behalf. Please don't be angry anymore, okay?"
Nac nac~
However, Nacli felt there was no reason for Ange to apologize for Pawmi's mistake; it firmly insisted that Pawmi apologize for itself.
Ange thought about it and realized it made sense. Since he had caught Pawmi, he had to help it establish correct values. Thus, he patted Pawmi's chubby belly.
"Pawmi, apologize to Nacli," Ange commanded.
Pawmi's mouth was stuffed full, and it asked indistinctly, Puh~ Why?
Ange said with a stern face, "If you do something wrong, you must apologize. Or should I snatch your food away right now and see how you like it?"
Hearing this, Pawmi realized the gravity of the situation and immediately folded. It swallowed the food in its mouth in two or three gulps and then said to Nacli, Paw paw~ I'm sorry!
Only then did Nacli leave, satisfied, to continue enjoying its lunch.
Ange patted Pawmi's head. "That's a good child. Remember, you can't just steal or snatch things from others anymore."
Paw~
Pawmi nodded as if it partially understood and then went back to eating its plate of food intensely.
After lunch, everyone sat on the grass chatting. Around 1:00 PM, the professors took the researchers back to the laboratory to work, and Diancie went with them.
Once Ange and Arven finished tidying up the pots, bowls, and ladles, they planned to continue exploring Area Zero to catch Pokemon.
He had one mission left: to catch Capsakid or Scovillain.
Before setting off, Ange had Munchlax take the two Dolliv, the Garganacl, and the two Nacli back to the Nebel Plateau. It was time for them to get used to the environment of their new home and bond with their companions.
After sending the Pokemon away, Ange looked at the Pokemon distribution map in his hand and fell into deep thought.
Seeing Ange's furrowed brows, Arven asked, "Brother Ange, what's wrong? Which Pokemon are we going to catch this afternoon?"
Ange answered, "I want to catch Capsakid and Scovillain, but they aren't recorded on the distribution map the professors gave us."
Since the System had issued this mission now, there was no reason for them not to be in Area Zero!
Paw paw~
Suddenly, Pawmi hugged Ange's leg and barked at him incessantly.
Ange looked down and asked, "What is it, Pawmi?"
Paw paw~
Pawmi barked while gesturing.
Ange asked, "You know where Scovillain and Capsakid are?"
Paw paw~ Pawmi nodded rapidly.
"Then could you please lead the way?" Ange asked.
Pawmi nodded immediately but then extended its hand.
"What for?" Ange asked, puzzled.
Pawmi gestured repeatedly, and soon Ange said between laughter and tears, "Didn't you just finish lunch? And you ate so much. You want more now?"
Paw paw~ Pawmi shook its head firmly. It wouldn't lead the way without food.
"Fine, fine, here!" Ange took a cucumber from his backpack and handed it over.
Pawmi excitedly took the cucumber, shouldered it like a log, and stepped forward quickly. It didn't forget to wave back at Ange, signaling him to keep up.
Ange said to Arven, "Let's go."
The two then mounted Espathra and followed behind Pawmi, with the two Oinkologne and Mabosstiff following closely.
Pawmi's little legs were quite fast. Before long, Ange and the others had left the upper level and arrived at the middle level.
Ange couldn't help but call out, "Pawmi, aren't we there yet?"
Paw paw~
Pawmi took a bite of its cucumber and shook its head at Ange while pointing further down.
"You mean they're further below? Not in the middle level?" Ange asked in surprise.
Paw paw~
Pawmi nodded quickly.
It had seen Scovillain and Capsakid in the lower level. It originated from the lower level as well and had only ended up in the upper level by accident.
"Alright," Ange said. "Then let's keep looking."
Paw~ Pawmi nodded, shouldering the remaining half-cucumber as it continued forward, its chubby bottom wiggling as it walked.
The entrance from the middle level to the lower level was still guarded by League personnel. Upon seeing the pass given by the professors, the guard decisively let them through. However, as Ange entered the lower level, the guard reminded him:
"The Pokemon in the lower level are much more powerful than those in the upper and middle levels. Be careful. If you encounter danger, you can call for our help at any time!"
"Alright, thank you," Ange said gratefully.
After bidding farewell to the guard, Ange stepped into the lower level of Area Zero.
Just as they entered, their path was blocked by a Pokemon.
This Pokemon was deep blue all over, with petals blooming like a flower. A pair of golden eyes stared intently at Ange and his group.
It was a Glimmora!
Glimmora, the Ore Pokemon, a Rock and Poison-type. While almost never seen outside, they were spread all over the lower level of Area Zero.
Seeing Glimmora staring them down, Ange said to Arven and the Pokemon, "Let's not provoke it. Let's just walk away quietly."
Pawmi nodded repeatedly. It was better not to mess with Glimmora; their influence in the lower level was too great!
Just as Ange and the others intended to detour and leave, Glimmora suddenly opened its petals, and a shining beam of light shot toward them.
Ange was startled. What are you doing? We didn't even provoke you!
"Espathra, dodge quickly!"
Espathra strode forward with its long legs and leaped, easily taking Ange and Arven out of the way of the attack.
Pawmi had already ducked its head and used Dig to get away. Oinkologne and Mabosstiff also ran fast.
BOOM!!!
With a loud crash, a large crater appeared where Espathra had been standing.
Espathra was proud and arrogant. Being attacked for no reason by another Pokemon made it instinctively want to counterattack, but Ange shouted, "Espathra, let's go quickly. Don't fight with it."
Ange noticed many Glimmora and Glimmet hidden near the rocks and Tera Crystals nearby. If they hit one, wouldn't the whole clan come after them?
Espathra hesitated for a moment but ultimately chose to obey Ange. it reached down to grab Pawmi, who had just emerged from a pile of dirt beneath it, and bolted.
Oinkologne and Mabosstiff followed closely.
Paw paw~ AHHH!!!
Pawmi was swung back and forth by Espathra, screaming non-stop. The small piece of cucumber left in its hand had long since been dropped who-knows-where.
Only after escaping the Glimmora's range did Espathra stop, dropping Pawmi onto the ground with a plop.
Paw paw~ You owe me my cucumber! Pay me back my cucumber!
Pawmi scrambled up from the ground, pointing at Espathra while crying and shouting. Then it sat on the ground and wailed, its short legs kicking wildly.
Paw paw~ My cucumber! My cucumber is lost!
Espathra: (_|||)
Ange dismounted Espathra and took out a fresh cucumber, stuffing it into Pawmi's arms. "Here, here!"
Paw~
Pawmi's wailing stopped instantly as it clutched the whole cucumber. With tears in its eyes and a snot bubble at its nose, it grinned at Ange.
It wiped its face with its hand, patted its bottom, and nimbly climbed up. Shouldering the cucumber, it began to walk with a swaggering, arrogant gait.
Paw paw~ Quick, keep up!
Halfway there, Pawmi turned back to wave at Ange.
"This fellow..."
Ange, Arven, and the Pokemon followed.
After walking for about twenty minutes, they arrived at a grassy plain.
Many Pokemon lived on the plains of the lower level, such as Girafarig, Farigiraf, and Frosmoth. Ange and the others even saw members of Pawmi's kin.
This group of Pawmi generally had low levels and were very timid. At the slightest sound, they would immediately hide in the grass or burrows. One could tell they weren't strong. No wonder the half-baked Pawmi said it was the unrivaled champion of its kin.
It all relied on the lack of competition!
Pawmi's individual values were indeed excellent, but its level was low and it hadn't evolved, so its strength wasn't actually that great.
However, while the Pawmi levels weren't high, Ange discovered through observation that the levels of Pokemon in the lower level were generally much higher than those in the middle and upper levels. Along the way, he had already seen several Pokemon over level 50, and even some over level 60.
No wonder the guard told him to be careful.
Pokemon over level 50 are generally difficult for average Trainers to handle, let alone level 60. If Ange hadn't had Komala with him, he wouldn't have dared to wander around.
Paw paw~
Pawmi gestured back and forth to its kin. Soon, the other Pawmi pointed in a direction and ran that way with Ange's Pawmi.
Pawmi didn't forget to wave back, signaling Ange and the others to follow.
After running for a distance, they finally saw the targets of this trip: Scovillain and Capsakid!
The Scovillain and Capsakid were sitting on the grass leisurely sunbathing. This appeared to be a family: a pair of Scovillain parents with three Capsakid.
Paw paw~
The Pawmi chattered to Ange's Pawmi, and Ange's Pawmi chattered to Ange, meaning that it had helped find the Scovillain and Capsakid.
Ange crouched down and smiled as he patted its head. "Then thanks. You've worked hard."
Paw~
A satisfied smile immediately appeared on Pawmi's face.
Ange stepped forward and stood opposite the Scovillain and Capsakid. The family of five all turned their heads toward him in unison.
The Scovillain each had two heads—one red and one green—looking quite fierce.
"I want to catch you. Please battle with me!" Ange said straightforwardly.
At the same time, his Eye of Observation saw the data of the two Scovillain.
Scovillain Type: Grass, Fire Ability: Chlorophyll Gender: Male Level: 60 Moves: Spicy Extract, Flamethrower, Leer, Fire Fang, Leafage, Bite, Growth, Razor Leaf, Sunny Day, Bullet Seed, Crunch, Zen Headbutt, Worry Seed, Seed Bomb, Overheat, Solar Beam Individual Values HP: 11 Attack: 15 Defense: 19 Special Attack: 16 Special Defense: 11 Speed: 23
Scovillain Type: Grass, Fire Ability: Insomnia Gender: Female Level: 54 Moves: Spicy Extract, Flamethrower, Leer, Fire Fang, Leafage, Bite, Growth, Razor Leaf, Sunny Day, Bullet Seed, Crunch, Zen Headbutt, Worry Seed, Seed Bomb, Overheat, Solar Beam Individual Values HP: 19 Attack: 21 Defense: 10 Special Attack: 13 Special Defense: 6 Speed: 5
Both Scovillain had high levels and knew many moves, but their overall stats weren't great. They shouldn't be too hard to deal with.
Cap cap~
Cap cap~
Cap~
Hearing Ange's words, the three Capsakid became very excited and rushed forward, wanting to battle Ange.
The two Scovillain saw this and quickly bent over to pick up the three children, tossing them behind their backs. They then roared fiercely, Sco sco!!! Go back! Behave yourselves!
The three Capsakid were immediately roared into shrinking their heads, sitting obediently on the grass with a disciplined look.
In truth, Capsakid were ugly-cute. After looking at them a few more times, Ange found them quite adorable.
After comforting the children, the two Scovillain walked opposite Ange and barked twice at him.
Sco sco~
Sco sco~
Ange asked, "You mean I have to defeat both of you at once before your family is willing to come with me?"
The two Scovillain nodded at the same time.
"Alright!" Ange nodded.
As soon as Ange finished speaking, Espathra leaped forward and stood opposite the Scovillain.
Ange hadn't let it fight Garganacl last time, so now it couldn't wait.
Originally, Ange had intended for Komala to take them on two-on-one, but since Espathra had volunteered, Ange couldn't really call it back.
Oh well, let it fight!
"Komala, I'm counting on you too." Ange placed Komala on the ground.
Since it was a double battle, there was no problem with him using two Pokemon, right?
Komala rolled over to Espathra's side and stood its ground with it against the two Scovillain.
"Can our match begin now?" Ange asked the two Scovillain.
The Scovillain couple nodded in unison.
Their heads really looked like peppers, especially those bell peppers. Combined with their thin necks, Ange was genuinely afraid their heads might fall off like ripe fruit when they nodded.
"Then... let the battle begin!"
As soon as Ange's words fell, Espathra was the first to move, directly using its signature move, Lumina Crash. A sphere of colored light shot toward the female Scovillain.
The female Scovillain was not to be outdone. Its red head opened its mouth, and a pillar of fire erupted to meet the colored sphere.
Although the female Scovillain was a few levels higher than Espathra, its Flamethrower didn't manage to gain the upper hand. After stalling for a moment against the Lumina Crash, it was overwhelmed.
Just as the colored sphere was about to hit the female Scovillain, another pillar of fire struck, neutralizing the Lumina Crash.
