Chapter 48 - The Visitor in the Shadow

"That's right, this will be our second home from now on!" Ange said to Munchlax, Diancie, and Komala.

"Munch Munch~" Hooray! Hooray!

Munchlax spread its arms. It happily ran around the living room. It then suddenly pounced onto the sofa.

The sofa was very bouncy. Munchlax bounced up and down on it, letting out happy laughter.

Ange said, "Munchlax, you will ruin the sofa if you keep bouncing like that."

Munchlax immediately climbed down from the sofa when it heard this. It even carefully patted the sofa. It could not be ruined, or they would have to buy a new one.

It then quickly ran to Ange's side and obediently took his hand.

Ange smiled and said to it, "The sofa won't break that easily, as long as you don't jump and leap like you just did."

Munchlax heaved a sigh of relief when it heard this. It even patted its own chest with its hand. It was very cute. Ange could not resist pinching its chubby cheeks again.

"Come on, let's go check out the first and second floors," Ange said.

The family of four then headed downstairs.

On the second floor, Ange said to Diancie and Munchlax, "Diancie, Munchlax, you two continue looking. I will go to the Nebel River to pick up Fletchling's mother. She is waiting for me there."

"Munch Munch~"

Munchlax gestured to Ange with its hands and feet. After Diancie translated, Ange realized that Fletchling, Espurr, and Floette all evolved this morning. Fletchling's mother should now be called Fletchinder's mother.

Ange looked surprised. "Really? What a coincidence."

"Munch Munch Munch~" They must have evolved because they ate the breakfast I made. I am so awesome.

Munchlax proudly lifted its head. Its nose was high in the air.

"Yes, yes, yes!" Ange patted its head helplessly. "Look how smug you are."

"Munch~" Heh heh.

Munchlax chuckled foolishly.

"You two continue looking. I have to go, or Fletchinder's mother will be anxious from waiting." With that, Ange left the shop holding Komala.

Arriving at the Nebel Lake outside the city, Ange shouted toward the nearby woods, "Fletchling's mother!"

"Star~"

With a gust of wind, a Staraptor flew out of the woods.

"Are you hungry?" Ange asked, taking out the lunch he had prepared for Fletchinder's mother. "Hurry up and eat."

"Star~" Fletchinder's mother thanked Ange while eating.

"Oh, right, I have good news for you. Your Fletchling has evolved into Fletchinder!" Ange relayed the news he had just received to the Staraptor.

"Star~"

Fletchinder's mother raised its head in surprise.

"It just evolved this morning. Hurry up and eat. We'll go back together after you finish. You can see the evolved Fletchinder when we get home," Ange said.

Fletchinder's mother nodded. It quickly finished the entire basin full of buns and Mantou.

After eating, Fletchinder's mother was about to carry Diancie and fly back to the Nebel Plateau. Then it heard Ange say, "Follow me. I have a faster way to take you home."

Although Fletchinder's mother was confused, it flapped its wings and obediently followed behind Ange.

After entering the city, Fletchinder's mother rode the gondola with Ange. It had never ridden one before. Ange suggested trying it out as a way to enrich its experience.

It nervously crouched at Ange's feet. It constantly looked left and right. Gradually, it became captivated by the bustling Azoth Royal Capital.

There are so many people here!

The liveliness of the Azoth Royal Capital and the peace and serenity of the Nebel Plateau each had its own beauty.

Fletchinder's mother saw that almost everyone here got along harmoniously with their Pokémon. It suddenly felt that humans were not as terrifying as everyone said.

Ange saw this and stroked its back. "There are bad people in this world, and there are good people. But mostly, there are more good people. So, you don't need to be so afraid of interacting with humans."

"Of course, if you go out alone one day and meet a stranger, you still need to be cautious."

Fletchinder's mother nodded.

After getting off the gondola, Ange and the Pokémon needed to walk a stretch of road to get back to the shop.

To get back to the shop as quickly as possible, Ange decided to take a shortcut. He led Komala and Fletchinder's mother through a quiet street.

As they walked, a shadow suddenly darted into Ange's shadow. It was so fast that he did not see what it was.

Before Ange could investigate, he heard a rush of hurried footsteps. Soon, a man and a woman appeared in front of Ange and the Pokémon.

The man was tall and had a fierce appearance. He was accompanied by a Houndoom.

The woman was tall and slim. She had a cool expression and short red hair. She looked very unruly. She was accompanied by a Banette.

"Prince Ange? What are you doing here?" the man asked in surprise when he saw Ange.

"You are... the one next to Jarvis... Daoka?" Ange tried hard to recall the man's name.

"It is me. I am delighted that Your Highness remembers me," Daoka said.

"Is this Prince Ange?" The woman next to Daoka looked Ange up and down.

"And you are?"

The woman's gaze was impolite. Ange slightly frowned.

The woman smiled and introduced herself. "I am Isabel. I am Daoka's colleague. It is an honor to meet Your Highness here."

"Your Highness, did you see a Haunter pass by just now?" Daoka asked.

Ange shook his head. "No. Are you looking for a Haunter? What happened to it?"

Daoka explained, "We intend to catch it for Mr. Jarvis. We didn't expect it to run so fast."

Ange asked suspiciously, "Does Jarvis even need others to catch Pokémon for him?"

Daoka and Isabel looked embarrassed when they heard this.

Ange said meaningfully to the two of them, "It is better to catch one's own Pokémon personally."

Daoka said, "I will convey Your Highness's words to Mr. Jarvis."

"Alright, I won't talk to you anymore. I have to go home. Goodbye." With that, Ange left with Komala and Fletchinder's mother.

"Goodbye, Your Highness."

"Goodbye, Your Highness."

Daoka and Isabel said to Ange's retreating figure.

***

Soon, Ange and the Pokémon arrived home. Fletchinder's mother looked confused at the small building in front of them. Ange smiled and explained to it, "This will be our new home in the Azoth Royal Capital from now on!"

Fletchinder's mother immediately became agitated when it heard this.

"Star Star~" Mr. Ange, are you moving away from the Nebel Plateau?

Ange quickly comforted it. "Don't be excited, don't be excited. This is where we will do business in the future. My home is still the Nebel Plateau, of course. That will never change."

Even though he could not understand Pokémon language, Ange knew what Fletchinder's mother wanted to express.

"Star Star~" Fletchinder's mother was relieved when it heard this. They had already gotten used to Mr. Ange's life on the Nebel Plateau.

"Come, I'll take you in to see. We will go back to the Nebel Plateau from here later," Ange said, pushing open the shop door.

"Munch~"

"Ange, you're back."

Seeing Ange enter the door, Diancie and Munchlax, who were sitting in the hall chatting, excitedly jumped off their chairs.

"Star Star~"

Fletchinder's mother flapped its wings and greeted the two Pokémon.

"We are back," Ange said, smiling at the two Pokémon.

Ange then suddenly looked toward his shadow. He gently stomped his foot and said, "It's safe here. You can come out now."

Diancie and the Pokémon were surprised and looked toward Ange's shadow.

After ten seconds, a Haunter slowly floated out from Ange's shadow. However, it looked at Ange and the others with some vigilance.

Ange saw this and spoke to Haunter in the gentlest tone he could manage. "Don't be afraid. We won't hurt you."

Haunter stared at Ange for a while. It suddenly seemed to recall something. Its gaze toward Ange became a little softer.

However, it still did not approach Ange rashly. Instead, it slowly floated toward the wall. In a blink, it disappeared into the wall.

"Wait!" Ange called out. He took out a bag of the buns and Mantou that Fletchinder's mother had not finished. He handed them over. "These are for you."

After a long time, an arm stretched out from the wall. It quickly took the Mantou and buns. It quickly disappeared back into the wall.

"Alright, have you finished the tour? If you are done, let's go home," Ange said to Diancie and the Pokémon.

"We finished the tour. Let's go back."

So, Ange led the Pokémon through the Space Tunnel and returned to the Nebel Plateau.

After getting home and seeing Fletchinder's mother off, the family of four gathered around the table. Ange said, "Should we give the new shop a name?"

"We should give it a name," Diancie nodded. "What should we call it?"

"Munch Munch~"

Munchlax raised its hand excitedly.

Ange said with a smile, "Good, Munchlax, please speak."

"Munch Munch~"

Munchlax deliberately cleared its throat. Its expression was very serious. Ange and Diancie exchanged glances. They then secretly covered their mouths and smiled.

Munchlax was simply everyone's delight.

"Munch Munch~" How about 'The Restaurant of Ange, Diancie, Komala, and Munchlax'?

Ange: ...

Diancie: ...

Komala: zZ Zz

"Munchlax, that name is too long. People won't be able to remember it," Ange said.

"Munch~"

Munchlax sat back down, looking disappointed.

However, as soon as it sat down, it immediately bounced up like a spring. Its eyes sparkled as it looked at Ange.

"Munch~" Master!

Ange asked, confused, "Munchlax, have you thought of a good name again?"

"Munch~"

Munchlax looked triumphant.

"Munchlax, please tell us," Ange said, suppressing a laugh.

"Munch Munch Munch~" Call it 'Ange's Little Nest.'

Ange did not know whether to laugh or cry. What kind of name was that? It did not sound like a restaurant name at all.

Diancie suggested, "How about 'Munchlax's Home'?"

"That name is actually good," Ange said, deep in thought.

Munchlax froze. It then covered its face. It said shyly, "Munch... Munch..." Use... my... my name... to name it?

"You don't like it?" Ange asked Munchlax with a smile.

"Munch... Munch..." I... I like it.

Munchlax was even shyer.

Ange pinched its small cheek. "You know how to be shy now." He then continued, "Since the shop in the Azoth Royal Capital has a name, let's name the restaurant here at home too." He pondered for a few seconds. "How about 'Diancie's Grand Cafeteria'?"

"Use my name to name it?" Diancie was both happy and a little shy. But as a royal lady, how could she easily show her joy? So, her face still maintained a calm expression.

"That's right. One each for you and Munchlax," Ange said. "Does anyone object? If not, the names are set. The one in the Azoth Royal Capital is 'Munchlax's Home,' and the one here at home is 'Diancie's Grand Cafeteria.'"

Diancie and Munchlax exchanged glances. They both shook their heads, indicating no objection.

"Great. I will have two signs made later and hung on the doors of both shops."

Just as Ange and the Pokémon finished naming the shops, Gardevoir and Gallade returned. They used psychic power to carry several large barrels of Grass Nanny Milk.

After they put the milk away and came out of the kitchen, Ange said, "Thank you for your hard work."

"Voir voir~"

"Gal gal~"

Gardevoir and Gallade repeatedly waved their hands, indicating that it was not hard work at all.

Their work for the day was finished. The couple was about to head home after receiving their wages when Ange suddenly called out to them.

"Gardevoir, Gallade, I have a gift for you."

He had mentioned giving a bonus to this competent couple last time.

Gardevoir and Gallade turned back, confused.

A gift?

Ange took out the gift he had bought for the couple from the Azoth Royal Capital from his System Backpack.

It was a glass tube about as thick as an adult's arm. It was filled with green, viscous liquid.

The couple looked at Ange in confusion. Ange explained, "This is a special nutrient fluid. Apply it to the surface of your Pokémon Egg every day. The baby inside will absorb it and be nourished. It will be stronger after hatching."

The couple's eyes instantly lit up when they heard this.

However, thinking that one should not accept a reward without merit, they hesitated about whether they should accept it.

Ange directly placed the glass tube into Gardevoir's hand and said, "Take it. If you truly want to thank me, then work hard and do a good job."

Gardevoir and Gallade immediately looked touched when they heard this.

Ange smiled and said, "Go home quickly and use it on your baby. I hope the baby can hatch healthily."

"Voir voir~"

"Gal gal~"

Gardevoir and Gallade went home full of joy.

After Gardevoir and Gallade left, Ange called Fiona. He asked her to help him order two signs. He carefully described the requirements for the signs to her.

In the afternoon, Ange and his family of four had nothing to do. They moved a few chairs and sat on the porch outside the door. They basked in the sun while watching a show.

The tablets in the Pokémon world could project directly into the air. Once projected, they were no different from a television. It was very comfortable to watch.

Ange, Diancie, and Munchlax watched and discussed the plot.

Just then, Meowstic appeared at the door of Ange's house. It was hiding behind the Flower Garden, hesitant about whether or not to approach.
