Chapter 69 - Chapter 69: Promises and Reunions

Hey guys! It's been a while since you've received a message from me, so I just wanted to say hi. I'm writing to tell you that I'm creating my own original fan fiction story called 'Essence Made Demon King'. I've always wanted to see more custom-made Demon King fanfiction, but sadly there isn't much, so I decided to write my own! Check it out and let me know what you think!

...

Takeyo really didn't worry about leaving Ophis with Cao Cao's group.

He'd known for a while that Cao Cao wanted to use the power of Samael, the Dragon Eater, to consume Ophis and create a completely obedient duplicate of the Infinite Dragon God. Although that plan probably didn't even have a prototype yet, it remained a potential threat.

At most two months, before summer vacation ended, Takeyo planned to retrieve Ophis from the Khaos Brigade.

According to the original timeline, Cao Cao wouldn't make his move against Ophis until after the school trip, and that event was scheduled for next semester.

Ophis listened to Takeyo's words and considered them for a few seconds.

"I am waiting for you," she said quietly.

After speaking, Ophis transformed into a phantom and vanished before him.

"Then... is it time to deal with your problem?"

Takeyo looked down at the jewel on his chest.

'I always feel like if this gem turns blue when using Vali's mode, I'll become light.'

The strange thought crossed his mind, a reference to becoming a giant of light.

"Forget it. The most important thing right now is this..."

Takeyo closed his eyes and immersed his consciousness into the Sacred Gear.

Inside the Sacred Gear's inner world, Takeyo witnessed an extraordinary scene.

Among endless stars, a huge silver dragon wandered through the cosmic expanse. Universes like bubbles released eternal light, visible across the infinite void, their brilliance crossing time and space.

It was as if countless real universes existed here!

Of course, such a scene hadn't existed originally. Takeyo was certain this vision resulted from acquiring the Kulimo Dragon Soul.

Sensing Takeyo's arrival, the silver dragon turned its gaze toward him.

In the next instant, a silver-haired loli appeared before him.

"Are you the master of this body?" Kulimo asked, squinting her eyes with unprecedented interest.

"I am. So, how does it feel being here?"

Takeyo smiled and reached out his hand.

Regardless of anything else, since she was his little loli now, what was wrong with patting her head?

"It feels quite good. This is indeed a physique beyond anything I've encountered before..."

Feeling the warm hand on her head, Kulimo didn't dodge.

She understood she couldn't attack her host, that was the fundamental rule. The Sacred Heart of the True World Dragon followed the artifact system established by the biblical God of this world.

Dragon souls and beast souls, as divine tools, could never harm their hosts.

Even with a powerful enough host, it was impossible to force a dragon soul to act against its nature.

Of course, the latter restriction was useless for Takeyo, since he possessed complete control and ownership of the dragon soul.

"From now on, I'll call you Xiaoju."

Takeyo continued patting the silver-haired loli's head.

A silver-haired loli? This felt strangely familiar...

"Mm."

Kulimo nodded, accepting the title without complaint.

In truth, she had no objections to becoming the dragon soul within Takeyo's divine tool. She'd always been a bored existence, someone who enjoyed causing interesting events across various worlds.

While she felt some regret about not being able to personally create chaos anymore, witnessing someone's rise from a completely different perspective offered a new kind of entertainment.

Gods and Buddhas were, after all, beings prone to boredom.

"Do you think you can touch that realm?"

About ten minutes later, just as Takeyo prepared to leave, Xiaoju suddenly asked.

"Maybe?"

Takeyo answered with a smile.

He knew what she meant, the single-digit state of existence. At the very least, Takeyo felt it wasn't impossible for him to achieve a single digit eventually.

Though so far, he didn't know where the so-called true single-digit beings actually existed.

"Since you say that... then I'll look forward to it."

Xiaoju smiled slightly. Things were developing in an interesting direction again.

Witnessing the birth of a single-digit existence? That would definitely be far more interesting than wandering various worlds causing trouble.

"Then please look forward to it."

Takeyo smiled and disappeared from Xiaoju's presence.

As Kulimo's first and last host, he had a responsibility to take her to witness higher realms of power.

With his farewell to Xiaoju complete, Takeyo's consciousness withdrew from the divine tool.

"Well, the benefits from this are considerable."

Takeyo had to admit one crucial fact: there would be no major side effects when using the Kulimo incarnation in the future.

Whether the transcendental incarnation or the original incarnation, both would only consume insignificant amounts of stamina and mental energy.

"Finally, I can relax a bit."

Takeyo sighed with relief.

"Right now, I think letting Artoria go to that buffet was a wise decision."

That's right, before heading to school today, Takeyo had given Artoria some money and asked her to find an all-you-can-eat restaurant. Of course, it didn't matter if it wasn't specifically a buffet. Money was essentially just paper to someone like him.

If Artoria had been guarding him when Ophis immediately started undressing, wouldn't she think he was some kind of pervert?

As for protection?

Using the characteristics of his chess pieces, he could teleport Artoria back to his side at any moment if needed.

Click.

Gently, Takeyo opened the sports warehouse door, straightened his school uniform, and walked out.

If someone didn't know better, they might think he'd just finished some business inside the warehouse.

But in a sense... wasn't that accurate? He'd signed a contract with a magical girl from another world and received a gift from the Dragon God herself.

"Hm?"

As soon as Takeyo entered the teaching building, he spotted a familiar figure.

He recognized the small item on the girl's nose quite well, after all, he'd given it to her.

At this moment, he could analyze one thing from the girl's various psychological signs: she was in an abnormally excited state.

"Takeyo!"

With a light kick off the ground, Sona rushed into Takeyo's arms from ten meters away.

Though ordinary students couldn't see it, Takeyo clearly observed the magic circle beneath her feet.

"Sona, I'm back."

Takeyo gently patted Sona's head. Had he worried her a bit too much?

After all, they'd gone from ordinary classmates to family members, then his disappearance, and finally his recent return. Takeyo felt he'd never stopped making Sona worry about him.

"It's good you're back. It's good you're back."

Sona quietly leaned against Takeyo's chest, as if she never wanted to be separated again.

For the normally ice-cold Student Council President to act so clingy, one could imagine how difficult Takeyo's absence had been for her.

Although many people were coming and going at this time, neither Takeyo nor Sona paid them much attention.

"Ah! President Sona and Takeyo-kun! Why are they holding each other? Is there some special relationship?" a girl gasped.

"Ah! Takeyo-kun! Why are you with the President? My private tutoring sessions are gone!" another girl wailed.

"Wait! President! Why are you with Takeyo-kun? This way, the President and I won't be able to develop our relationship!" yet another girl complained pointedly.

"Hold on! Didn't Takeyo-kun just come to school with Rias-senpai today? What's going on?"

"Rias-senpai and President Sona? Is this the legendary Shura field?"

Similar comments spread wildly through the hallway. A storm of gossip might sweep through campus at any moment.

However, the parties involved didn't concern themselves with such matters.

Beep beep beep.

Just as Sona was savoring Takeyo's presence, her phone rang.

Since continuing to embrace him under the insistent ringing would be too embarrassing, Sona reluctantly picked up the phone.

"Hello."

Her face grew colder after seeing the caller ID.

"Hey, Sona? I have something urgent. Can you come over?" Rias's voice sounded somewhat anxious.

"What's the matter?" Sona's tone softened slightly.

Since it seemed genuinely important, she'd listen to Rias's explanation. If this was a deliberate interruption, then their friendship would take a hit.

Were best friends supposed to backstab each other at crucial moments?

Rias: Actually, yes, I am going to backstab you. Ahem.

"There are two Holy Sword users here on my side. I need to discuss something with both of us."

"Holy Sword users?"

Sona frowned. Why were these Church representatives being so inconsiderate?

"Alright, I'll come right now."

Click.

After saying this, Sona hung up.

"You heard that, Takeyo? Do you want to come along?"

Sona asked.

"Of course."

Takeyo looked at Sona and nodded.

Speaking of which, he really did feel somewhat frustrated about the situation.

Sona had come first, chronologically speaking, yet Rias had shared his bed last night. If Rias deliberately mentioned it, he'd genuinely face a Shura field scenario. After all, he felt Sona would be the most difficult person to deal with in such circumstances.

Takeyo and Sona entered the Occult Research Club together.

As soon as he opened the door, Takeyo saw two girls wearing priesthood coats and Holy Sword combat uniforms.

One girl had bitter determination in her eyes. The other girl, sporting twin ponytails, showed an incredible light in her eyes the moment she saw Takeyo.

"This is the high-class Devil who manages this town with me, Sona Sitri!" Rias introduced them.

"I am the next head of the Sitri family. May I ask what business you two have with us?"

Sona pushed her glasses up, her tone frosty. She definitely had no favorable impressions of hostile forces like the Church.

"I'm Xenovia, a Holy Sword user of the Church. I wield the Holy Sword of Destruction."

As if demonstrating, she displayed her holy sword.

"I'm Irina Shidou! I'm also a Holy Sword user, I use the Holy Sword of Mimicry!" Irina introduced herself energetically.

"Hey! Takeyo-kun! Do you still remember me? It's Irina!"

Right after introducing herself, Irina rushed toward Takeyo, ignoring the unhappy expressions on Rias and Sona's faces.

"Of course I remember you, Irina. I didn't expect you'd become a Holy Sword user overseas."

Takeyo smiled slightly. Although Irina's personality had indeed been boyish when they were children, she'd definitely grown into a beautiful young woman.

Hearing Takeyo's words, both Rias and Sona frowned.

So this girl named Irina was Takeyo's childhood friend?

"So why are you here?"

Takeyo asked.

Then he noticed the exclamation mark appearing above Irina's head.

[Ding!]

[Congratulations to the host for signing in! Sign-in level: Silver!]

[Sign-in location: Irina's twin ponytails!]

[Sign-in time limit: 1 day.]

[Remaining time: 1 day.]

"Our purpose for coming here is simple."

Xenovia, embodying the stoic warrior archetype, completely ignored the atmosphere as she spoke directly.

"We're here to perform a mission recovering stolen holy swords in this town. We hope the Devil side won't interfere, otherwise, it won't be good for either party."

Xenovia spoke while gripping the Holy Sword of Destruction.

"Should I interpret this as a threat against Devils?"

Rias frowned, her expression darkening.

"It's not a threat, just a reminder for everyone. But Takeyo-kun, why are you here? Were you seduced by beautiful Devil women?"

Irina's expression turned concerned as she looked at Takeyo, trying to lighten the mood.
