Chapter 77 - Ordering Around the Great Toad Sage

When Hanzō's name was mentioned, Tenzo and Kakashi grew serious.

Satoshi asked, "Is this Hanzō very powerful?"

Kakashi nodded and began to recount Hanzō's deeds during his peak.

"During the Second Great Ninja War, even when Orochimaru, Tsunade, and Jiraiya-sama teamed up, they were still defeated by him."

"Later, Hanzō didn't kill them and even bestowed upon them the title of Konoha's Three Sannin."

"The salamander he summoned was also very dangerous. If it weren't for Chiyo of Sunagakure deciphering its poison, many more ninjas would have died."

Satoshi understood. "So, Konoha's Three Sannin isn't a compliment at all. Instead, it's more like a brand of defeat."

"This old guy is really wicked. He kills people and then breaks their spirit."

Upon hearing this, Kakashi and Tenzo simultaneously raised their hands to their foreheads. Their movements were surprisingly coordinated, as if they had donned invisible masks of pain.

Is this the time to discuss Hanzō's method of killing people and breaking their spirit?

What they were saying was that Hanzō was very strong, and infiltrating would be dangerous, so they absolutely had to be careful, careful, and even more careful.

However, Satoshi's thoughts were like a wild horse unbridled, already following this line of reasoning and putting another new blame on Hanzō.

Satoshi stroked his chin, looking like he was seriously speculating.

"Given that, could Hanzō be the leader of this mysterious organization?"

"And he is recruiting these subordinates to expand his territory, swallow up the Land of Wind, and replace it as the Fifth Great Nation?"

Satoshi stroked his chin. "But then again, Hanzō's brain doesn't seem to be very good, does it?"

"That place, the Land of Wind, is full of yellow sand and dirt poor. What else can you do after conquering it besides eating sand?"

Kakashi pinched his brow, no longer bothering with the deranged Satoshi.

He gave Tenzo a look. "Let's go."

Satoshi quickly chased after them. "Hey, you two, wait for me."

Just as the Konoha Squad stepped into the Land of Rain's border, high up in a tower deep within Amegakure.

Pain gave an order to Konan beside him. "I will personally go to recruit a new companion. During this time, try not to act rashly. But if anyone finds the outer perimeter of the base, kill them without mercy."

"Understood."

Konan's figure melted into the rain like a piece of paper.

Soon after, the Konoha Squad disguised themselves and entered the Land of Rain.

The civil war here was far from over. Along the roads, bodies could be seen from time to time.

Some were wearing tattered ninja clothes, while others were merely in civilian attire.

Even with the pouring rain, it couldn't mask the smell of blood in the air.

"War is indeed cruel."

Kakashi pointed to a corpse and said, "A ninja from Sunagakure."

Satoshi, however, didn't feel much. The ninjas of the Sunagakure were always like this. Every time they couldn't hold on, they would attack Konoha. If they couldn't win, they would surrender, still hoping for some benefits. So, it was perfectly reasonable for him to take their gold dust. That was originally Konoha's money.

"Let's go to Amegakure and find relevant clues as soon as possible."

Amegakure was a heavily guarded village, like a giant steel fortress.

Even more troublesome was its internal structure, a labyrinthine network of sewers that extended in all directions. Theoretically, it could lead anywhere, but for invaders, it was a natural trap.

If there wasn't a familiar ninja to guide them, they could get lost at any time or stumble into Amegakure's main base and be killed.

Kakashi looked at Amegakure's tower from afar and said, "Let's find a way to sneak in without alerting the guards."

They retreated and took out their rain-soaked map.

While Kakashi and Tenzo were planning their route, Satoshi clapped his hands together.

Summoning Jutsu.

Bang!

Accompanied by dense white smoke, a gigantic toad appeared out of nowhere.

It looked half-asleep. That's right, it was the Great Toad Sage, whom they hadn't seen in a long time.

Gamamaru asked, "Hmm? Where is this? Kid, what's your name? I think I've seen you somewhere."

"White hair, just like Jiraiya. Are you his son?"

Satoshi was fuming. When did he get such an unreliable old man as a father?

He pointed to Amegakure, which was faintly visible in the distance and said, "Great Toad Sage, I need to get in without alerting anyone. Help me figure out a way."

"Also, where is Hanzō? I have something I want to ask him."

The cold rain poured on Gamamaru's head, making him a little more sober. But he was still a bit confused.

How many years had it been since anyone had sought him out for such a thing?

After thinking for a while, he took out a crystal ball.

"Wait a moment, let me see."

This was the Great Toad Sage's tool for observing the Ninja World. With it, he could know the movements of the Ninja World, and finding a person was naturally no problem.

A few minutes later.

"You go straight from here, then turn left, then right."

"Do you see this three-way intersection? Take the middle path. About fifteen meters in, there's an alley."

"Go into the alley, there's an abandoned ninja tool shop. Go inside and find the back door, and then…"

The Konoha Squad's heads were about to explode.

Who the hell could remember all that?

So, Satoshi once again stated his request, "How about you send the three of us in? The Great Toad Sage should be able to do this small thing."

Gamamaru said, "As easy as flipping a hand."

In a hidden corner of Amegakure.

"They're gone, Uchiha… what was his name again?"

"Never mind, it's not important."

The Great Toad Sage turned into smoke and dissipated.

Only then did Kakashi come back to his senses.

As a fan of Jiraiya, he had heard some things about Mount Myōboku from Jiraiya.

For example, how awesome the Great Toad Sage was, and that there was nothing in the entire Ninja World he didn't know.

Under his influence, Kakashi even had a slight admiration for this Great Toad Sage, but not much.

Who would have thought that Satoshi would summon him today?

And even make the thousands-year-old Great Toad Sage navigate and teleport them.

He lowered his voice. "Satoshi, won't the toads of Mount Myōboku scold you for ordering the Great Toad Sage around like this?"

Satoshi looked unconcerned. "It's fine, I don't usually go there anyway. After a long time, they'll forget."

"If they really can't forget, they'll only blame Jiraiya."

Tenzo quietly retreated half a step. In the future, when performing missions with Satoshi, he must maintain a safe distance.

Speak as little as possible, lest he suddenly have to take the blame for a huge, unexpected mess.

Satoshi suddenly sighed and gently patted Kakashi's shoulder. "Senpai, if it weren't to help you quickly find Obito's whereabouts, I wouldn't have asked the Great Toad Sage to come out."

Hearing this, Kakashi was incredibly moved.

Satoshi truly was a good person.

Under the impact of the word "Obito," Kakashi's intelligence even temporarily went offline.

"Thank you."

"Let's go."

Satoshi put on his mask, "Let's find a few lone ninja and ask them."

"Mm."

Soon, two unlucky Amegakure patrolmen were targeted by them.

Using the sound of the rain as cover, they cleanly dragged them into the depths of a nearby dark alley.

Satoshi drew out his small blade and held it against the throat of one of the ninjas.

"Tell me whatever I ask you. Dare to speak one lie, and I'll flay you alive."

"Y-yes, sir, what do you want to ask?"

"There's an organization wearing black robes with clouds embroidered on them, do you know about it?"

The Amegakure ninja nodded carefully. "This organization is called Akatsuki, it has caused a lot of trouble for Hanzō-sama."

"Oh?"

Satoshi asked knowingly, "They aren't Hanzō's subordinates?"

"Hanzō-sama hates them to the bone. Recently, he has been strictly ordering us to search for their members everywhere. Our squad is out looking for clues."

On the other side, Tenzo was restraining the other Amegakure ninja with Wood Release.

Kakashi's interrogation also yielded almost identical answers.

The three met, and the information was consistent.

"Akatsuki is actually an enemy of Hanzō."

The three discussed for a while and decided they still needed to find a way to get information from Hanzō.

Satoshi volunteered, "I'm good at this, I'll go."
