Hearing that, I could understand why they did not try to find out more about this god, its identity, its motives, and the reason for bringing the lords here.
It was because, despite having the power to know everything about whatever they wished to know, they couldn't because there was certain knowledge they could not handle at this stage.
Trying to inquire about things of the same grade or a grade higher is fine. But starting from two grades higher, it gets tricky. I'm sure that any time they tried to gain information about the lords, they suffered some sort of mental backlash.
