Emily stood at the windows overlooking Cloud City, the letters from Patricia's safe spread out on the coffee table behind her. Elena's desperate warnings to Harold. Queen Elara's correspondence with her cousin. Proof of everything.
She'd been awake since dawn, preparing for this meeting. Rehearsing what she'd say. Trying to decide how much mercy to show a father who'd failed her so completely.
Timothy came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"Harold will be here in ten minutes," Timothy said quietly. "Are you ready?"
"I don't know," Emily admitted. "He already confessed everything at the hospital. He already told me about Patricia's blackmail, about my mother's poisoning, about everything. What's left to say?"
