Chapter 65 - Mithridatism

"What does it look like we are doing?!" Aefia's tiny wolf head yell while waving its fist up and down, aggressively. "She doesn't want to eat raw meat and she knows how much she needs to inject herself with this poison! But on the other hand, she wants to build resistance against these beasts' blood! Just how am I supposed to convince her to do so!"

"..." Helio stared obnoxiously at the tiny red head floating in the air with its paws moving and making cute gestures in the air. "And when did your wolf become so tiny?" He asked after inquiring for a long time.

"It didn't become tiny. Based on what I heard, it is still in its screen form, reading my screens." Aefia replied while observing the screen's movements. "But honestly, I don't remember asking for it to wake up or anything...so exactly how did you do it?"

"Stop delaying your assigned tasks! You want to be resistant to the poison or what?!" The small wolf head started shouting at Aefia's face. "And recalling the fact that, you told me to keep an eye on your situation from time to time!"

She continued starring at the somewhat, angry and cute creature floating mid-air, just to try and discipline its own master. "And even when I start the mithridatism process right now, won't it take some time to adjust and fully be able to resist the effects of the poison? So calculating everything that you have said and done until now, if I eat that raw meat, its basically feeding you."

"Okay, bye." The wolf tried to scammer away. Aefia held out a bit of the screen and spoke. "Did you forget your fancy sunglasses and your mustache? If you don't want it, I will keep it."

"No wait! Not my sunglasses!" The wolf came flying back and grabbed onto the handle of its glasses. "Let go! Don't take my costumes away!" It pulled towards the handle with extreme force.

"So your screen wears costumes!" Helio laughed from the side. "Sheesh! I wonder if my screen does that too."

"Don't!" Both Aefia and her wolf said at the same time. "That's unless you want to deal with stress in real life and real time." Aefia spoke after a short while. "And if your screen wants to suffer your wrath in real life and real time too." Her wolf spoke out.

"Hey! Since when was I angry with you! You were the one shouting at my face all along!" Aefia protested. "Then explain why you can't eat those enmagicked flesh and feed me their magic energy!"

"I knew it!" She said while letting go of the screen's glasses. "You just wanted me to eat disgusting things so you could consume the energy! Well if that's the case, I rather cook it."

"Yeah fine! Cook it...but do you even know how to cook?" Her screen spoke while putting its glasses on. "I bet that offends you a little, rich ma'am. There are no servants down here!"

"Do I need servants anyway? I have people who are hungry and they can cook for themselves. I don't need to eat, because I have two chocolate bars in my pocket right now that can last me another day." She said while taking out two clear wrappers, one was milk chocolate while the other was dark chocolate.

The little wolf drooled as he looked into the glossy casing of the insanely delicious food. "Give me that!" It pounced onto Aefia's hand and she passed it to another hand. There, the wolf quickly flew to the other hand and Aefia threw both the wrapper at Helio's face.

"Hide it! And don't think about eating it! It's stolen!" She spoke as she struggled to keep the wolf in place. "Alright! I will eat that meat! Just calm down!"

"It's chocolate or nothing!" It chomped on her finger as she let go, and flew half-way across the area just to get near those two delicious brown bars.

"Stay back! No chasing my master." A lime green pan came flying out the pocket of Helio's coat. The pan hit Aefia's tiny wolf in the head, and dissappeared. The tiny wolf fell unconscious from the air as Aefia caught it just before hitting the ground.

"Seriously! Just when I thought these things aren't supposed to be uncontrollable pets! They are way more dramatic than cats!" Aefia huffed as she got up from her kneeling position on the ground. "Now that it is silent, I can finally think about the mithridatism thing. And that reminds me, do you know how to summon medical supplies?" She asked as she looked at her chocolate wrappers on the ground.

"...The heck! Why is everyone so obsessed with my stolen chocolates! And I didn't even have a bite!" Aefia hung her head as she spoke. "And I also forgot to tell them, those chocolates were stolen from the dumpster."

"What!" Helio and his lizard shouted at once as they both started spitting them out.

Aefia laughed as she walked away. When she was far enough, she spoke to herself, "I may be bad at stopping people from doing something, but I am not bad at fooling them." She gave a sinister smile, meanwhile her tiny wolf started to wake up again.

It was set on top of a clean cloth on the ground right next to Aefia and questioned itself if its master was right in the head when it noticed the villain's grin on her face. It got up and flew in front of her as to see what she was doing.

"You are really slicing up meat for me?!" It yelped with a happy tone. "Do I have a choice?" Aefia replied. "Although, I need to say, I don't have a lot of experience and ingredients, so don't complain about the final product being impossibly bland. Like you said, I don't have servants down here." She angrily chopped down meat into tiny cubes. They both knew that no one was going to eat raw meat.

Aefia lit fire on her sword and tossed the cubes into the blade's long width. "So, how do I know when the meat is cooked?" She questioned the drooling little head, who had its paws touching its chin. "I don't know, until it is medium rare?"

"I know what a medium rare is, but how long until then? Don't you know how to tell time?" She asked as her hand holding the hilt of the sword upright, shoke. "I think we need to leave it for at least five minutes at this heat. But are you aware that I am making them the size of dog food?"

"Then remove it now! You are going to burn it!" Her little wolf head started blowing at the flames. Aefia put her finger into the fire and picked up the ten cubes of meat onto her hand while flipping the sword sideways to kill the flames. "I didn't know screens had lungs." She said as she tossed the ten cubes of meat into her mouth.

"And I didn't know you could put your hand into the burning fire to do something. At this point, you are a super human." Her wolf replied.

"I believe every magic users are considered super humans or animals. How many wolves do you know that are made of codes like you?" Suddenly, Aefia felt a vague feeling of wanting to puke. "Is it normally supposed to be a bit nauseating in the first try?"

"Every mithridatism process is supposed to be nauseating, it is normal for all types of poison too. You organs are basically made to protect you, so don't overthink about this being something out of the ordinary. Now, for the main thing to actually happen, you will have to wait. The poison needs time to circulate around your blood vessels, so during the waiting time, maybe you can purchase a tube or a container to store these poisonous meat and blood for the next dozes?"

"Sure, let's do that." Aefia replied while leaning against a wall. "Open up your shop's interface, I will be done with this quick." The wolf happily clicked a few icons on its tiny screen and a much bigger one showed up in front of her. "And do remember to keep the starting prices for all the products the same. Otherwise I will strangle you after purchasing." She pressed on the screen's search bar as she spoke to the tiny worried wolf.

The furry pet zoomed in front of her and blocked the view from the surface. "Wait! Wait! Hold on! I am not done with a few things, so please don't hurry. Haha, its not like we are in a rush for the containers and the tubes. So why not just rest during that time? Yes! Resting is important right after mithridatism, otherwise the poison will take bad effects on your organs! We don't want to die, do we?"

"And who is going to guard me while I rest?" Aefia asked with a curious face. "Who is going to keep an eye out for the pack of beasts approaching from a kilometer away?" She poked the wolf's eye, just to make sure it wasn't trying to hide anything from her.

"Wow! The range for your senses are that long? You are a human robot, a humanoid! Now please let me finish my work! It is for your own good...I really don't want to anger you!" Her wolf said while brushing the eye she had poked. "And please don't do that again, we systems can't regenerate like you elemental magic users. We don't have magic at all."

"Oh yes, I am aware of that. But if you are in a rush to fix a bug last minute, doesn't it mean you were basically trying to scam me before I threatened you?" Aefia asked as she faned her hand at the wolf's sunglasses. The sunglasses were moving just like a paper, but it was surprisingly strong.

"Yes, you are right." Her wolf looked away and sat on Aefia's palm as the remaining of the body appeared. "Hey! You are so small, that you look like a small furball the way your sitting! And that is very cute. I feel like having a furry little outer world creature as a pet right now."

"Thanks for the compliment, but do you even know what outer world means?" Her wolf spun around as the shop interface turned off. "Yes, the worlds that were actually part of a very well-known story, they are called outer worlds."

"And what about worlds which didn't have their stories told?"

"That would be other worlds."

"Did you know that the animals who are now your elemental magic animals, they were once all from an other world? And you will be even more shocked to know that our species aren't actually extinct but our world is. You humans, in the greed of getting magical qualities, chose to destroy it and deleted every single written stories of our world, making it seem like all those tales were just a myth."

"Your world? An outer world?" Aefia asked with interest.

"Yes, ever heard of the story, red riding hood?" Her wolf asked with fear illuminating in its face. "Our species, the magical wolf, were the antagonist to that story. But in truth, that was a made up lie."

"Let me guess? The humans intruded into your world and basically, kicked you all out?"

"Not exactly. Yes, humans did intrude into our world and kick us out, but the story in between is much more twisted then just that. The humans, in our version of the story, are the big bad wolves while we were basically red riding hood. I was also just a cub when I was slaughtered...and I didn't even get the chance to become a ghost and wonder around, they turned my soul into a magic source and here you are right now, as my owner."

"..." Aefia looked down. "So what you want to say is that you feel imprisoned because you are my elemental animal?"

"I am not mad or anything. I just felt like telling you, because you yourself are secretive, so why not trust you enough for it?"

"And there must me more to why you told me all that. You want me to go help the remaining of your survivors before they become a magic source too, am I right?"

The wolf starred with shocked eyes at Aefia. "I don't know if I remember where they are now, but I won't hesitate to try and find them. I feel pretty lonely and out of my pack for a long time now, I just want to get back with them." It spoke with stars shining in its eyes.

"Do other elements also have animals with the same background as you? Maybe they belong to other worlds like yours?"

"No, we all lived in the same world, and we have all been separated. But my special request to you, can't you help me find my pack? I will still help you defeat whoever it is that you and your teammates are so eager to bring down."

"Hm..." Aefia let out a sigh. "By now Helio must have gone back to the others, so I can't ask him to ask them for me...and I want to discuss the matter with them before proceeding. We are in a tight space of schedule right now due to the upcoming decent of a Guardian upon my residing world, so might as well finish that one task in hand before starting with a new. I promise you that I will do as you have asked."

"Yay!" Her wolf sprang up into the air and floped back down to Aefia's palm. "By the way, don't you think we have to go find the exit to this underground dungeon? I don't think this is supposed to be the next stage. The person you needed to defeat has already been killed, your reward is supposed to be in the next stage's entry."

"No wait." Aefia glanced towards a newly appeared door right next to her. "I think we have already found the exit."

"Are you sure? That doesn't look safe!" Her wolf hoped onto her shoulder.

Aefia flunked her hood on top of her head and twisted the knob. "Then let's find out."
