Eligos Territory, Ancient Battlefield camp.
A magic circle spun into existence in front of the campfire, pulsing from top to bottom. As it rotated, four figures gradually took shape along its trajectory—Leo, Ravel, Ram, and Rem.
"So this is Eligos Territory?"
Ravel glanced around, curiosity flickering in her eyes.
Ram and Rem also looked around, but far less carefully than Ravel. It seemed like where they went didn't really matter to them. Before long, their gazes returned to Leo instead.
They stood at his sides, one left and one right, like proper maids. Their disciplined demeanor was strikingly similar to Grayfia, who always followed behind Sirzechs. No one would guess that such slender bodies hid such terrifying power—or that they were servant devils at all.
Leo had asked them before if they wanted to change clothes. Both had refused.
"For ten years, Rem and I have lived like this. We're already used to it, so please don't worry about us, Leo-sama."
"What my sister means is what Rem means too. When there's a fight, Rem can go to the front lines. But when there isn't, please feel free to treat Rem and my sister as maids."
That was their stance. They clearly intended to make maid outfits their everyday wear—and their battle gear too.
"So you're really good at maid work?" Leo had asked out of curiosity.
"Of course," Ram said, puffing out her chest. "Just leave everything to Rem."
"Yes," Rem said, also standing tall. "Sister is amazing, but Rem will take care of everything."
Just those two lines perfectly summed up the "job capabilities" of these so-called maids.
Tiamat had even warned Leo about it.
"Though her strength is somewhat lacking, Rem is practically omnipotent when it comes to maid work. There's nothing she's bad at. As for Ram… she's surprisingly clumsy…"
All in all, the sisters were complete opposites. One had incredible talent in magic but was hopeless with her hands. The other lacked strength but was a domestic powerhouse. In a way, they complemented each other.
Of course, while Ram could be clumsy and occasionally wore an arrogantly smug expression, her mind was sharp. She was well-read, knew many secrets, and was said to understand the languages and scripts of many races—a genuine prodigy.
Rem, on the other hand, looked calm and steady, but she was… a bit slow upstairs. In other words, she could be stubborn to a fault. Still, once she decided on something, she would see it through to the end—an admirable trait in its own way.
"These two each have their own strengths, and both have limitless potential. Whether you can use them well depends entirely on you as their master."
After leaving those meaningful words behind, Tiamat returned to the Familiar Forest, leaving Leo to head back to Eligos Territory with his three new servants.
"It's still early. Your senpai are probably already asleep," Leo said after checking the time. "Why don't you find a nearby tent and rest for tonight? I'll introduce everyone properly tomorrow."
Ram and Rem had no objections and nodded casually.
Ravel didn't mind either. She had already met Yukino and the others. Tomorrow's introductions didn't really involve her.
Having gotten to know each other a bit, the three chatted lightly as they left together to pick out a tent.
Leo watched them go. After a while, he turned back to the crackling campfire, lost in thought.
The next morning.
As dawn broke, Yukino and the others finished washing up and stepped out of their tents.
They were already dressed in workout clothes, chatting as they stretched, preparing for their usual morning basic training.
"Yo, you're up already?"
Leo appeared right on cue, waving at the four girls as he greeted them.
They froze for a moment, then expressions of surprise and delight spread across their faces.
"You're back, President!"
Yuuki Asuna was the first to speak, her voice brimming with joy.
"Welcome back, senpai."
Mahiru's expression visibly softened the moment she saw him, as if she'd found her pillar of support.
"When did you get back?"
Yukino asked in surprise.
While Leo had been gone, Yukino—the only one among the Eligos servants skilled in detection—had taken on watch duty. Even while sleeping, she maintained a steady output of Magic Detection to patrol the area. Yet she hadn't sensed Leo's return at all.
"My barrier didn't react either," Utaha added, equally surprised. She had set up defensive barriers around the camp in case of intruders. Even if someone broke through, it should have alerted her—but she'd noticed nothing.
"I came back last night," Leo said, answering their questions. "I didn't want to disturb your rest, so I deliberately blocked detection and barriers."
Leo knew Yukino's Magic Detection inside and out—it was one of the Eligos family's specialties. Blocking it was trivial for him.
As for Utaha's barrier, he had simply brute-forced his way through it with overwhelming demonic power.
With demonic power equivalent to a ten-winged devil, ignoring a barrier laid by a Sacred Gear user that could only stop a High-Class Devil was effortless.
The gap between those levels was a chasm. And since Leo fully understood how his servants' Sacred Gears worked, all it took was spending enough demonic power to jump directly inside using a magic circle—without alerting Utaha at all.
Of course, that was only possible because Leo had already set fixed magic circle coordinates within the camp. Without them, slipping past unnoticed would've been impossible.
"Nothing happened while I was gone, right?" Leo asked after explaining.
"Of course not," Yukino said, shaking her head. "You were only gone for a day and a night. What could happen?"
"We just trained as usual," Utaha said, brushing her hair back as she glanced at him. "With you gone, the morning basics were easier, but nighttime combat training was a lot more dangerous. The pressure's completely different without someone watching over us."
"That's true," Asuna said with a bright smile. "We're used to this kind of training now. Even if you're not here, President, we won't slack off."
"Where's Ravel?" Mahiru looked around. "She came back with you, right?"
Among the Eligos servants, Mahiru was always the youngest.
Leo and Utaha were eighteen, third-year students. Yukino and Asuna were seventeen, second-years. Mahiru alone was sixteen, a first-year—the junior of juniors.
Among the Gremory servants, someone her age would be Koneko Toujou, who looked like a literal loli. Mahiru was genuinely young—it just didn't show.
On that point, Yukino probably had a lot to say.
As a senpai, she was smaller than both Utaha and Asuna—and even smaller than Mahiru.
She'd always told herself that was just an exception. It wasn't her fault. Mahiru had just developed too well.
But after seeing Ravel yesterday… she was starting to doubt that logic.
There was no helping it. Ravel was even more developed—more than Mahiru.
And Ravel was also sixteen.
…Yeah. Life really wasn't fair.
Mahiru didn't think that deeply about it. A servant her age was rare, and she wanted to get along with her.
"She came back too," Leo said plainly. "Not just her—your other two companions are here as well."
The girls' spirits immediately lifted.
They knew exactly why Leo had taken Ravel to the human world the day before.
When Tiamat had entrusted him with finding the Tablet of Destiny, Mahiru aside, everyone else had been there.
They knew that once the Tablet was found, Tiamat would introduce two exceptional servants to Leo.
Judging by this, he'd succeeded.
"Perfect timing—they're coming now."
Leo sensed something and turned his head. The others followed his gaze.
The next moment, Ravel walked over with the twin sisters at her side.
"Good morning, Miss Yukinoshita, Miss Kasumigaoka, Miss Yuuki, and Miss Shiina."
Ravel lifted her skirt and offered them a graceful curtsy.
Ram and Rem bowed silently as well.
The girls froze.
"Maids?"
"Those are maids, right?"
"W-Why are they dressed like maids?"
"They're adorable twin maids…"
Yukino, Utaha, Asuna, and Mahiru exchanged looks, then all turned toward Leo with complicated expressions.
"Why are you all staring at me?" Leo paused, then realized what they were thinking. He narrowed his eyes and said irritably, "Let me be clear—this wasn't my idea. I don't have that kind of weird fetish."
The girls narrowed their eyes right back, clearly unconvinced.
"I can vouch for him," Ravel said, covering her mouth as she giggled. "This wasn't Leo-sama's order. Ram and Rem were already working as maids before. That's their actual job."
No sooner had she finished than the twins spoke in unison.
"I'm Rem, Leo-sama's Pawn and maid. Please take care of me."
"I'm Ram, also Leo-sama's Pawn and maid. Likewise, please take care of me."
They truly seemed to regard being maids as their main profession. Even after joining Leo, they had no intention of changing. The way they treated Yukino and the others wasn't that of equals, but of people meant to be served.
Fortunately, none of the girls were commoners. Some of them even had maids or attendants back home, so while they softened their attitudes, they didn't actually treat Ram and Rem as maids. Instead, they introduced themselves as fellow companions.
"How old are you?"
Utaha asked, seeing how petite the twins looked. She assumed they were the same age as Mahiru and Ravel—sixteen, first-year students.
Unfortunately, she was wrong.
"Rem is seventeen this year. In the human world, that would be second-year high school."
"Ram is naturally the same."
The twins' answer made Mahiru feel a little disappointed.
Two more senpai…
"Seventeen…"
Yukino glanced at Rem's chest and took critical damage.
T-That's not human, is it?
They were the same age. So why was she this… impressive?
Fine, Asuna at least had the height. But Rem—how did she even grow like that?
One Ravel was bad enough. Why was there another Rem?
Feeling dejected, Yukino subconsciously looked toward Ram, the older sister—
—and was instantly comforted.
She had thought she was already hopeless. Turns out there was someone even worse off…
"Hello, I'm Yukinoshita Yukino."
In an unprecedented move, Yukino proactively greeted someone with a smile.
Asuna nearly fell over.
What's wrong with Yukino? Was she possessed?!
There's no way my Yukino is this friendly! Whoever you are—get out of her body!
She almost shouted it out loud.
For some reason, Ram didn't look happy at all.
She frowned slightly as she looked at the smiling Yukino, clearly displeased.
The servants soon fell into lively conversation, the atmosphere warm and cheerful. Leo watched the scene with a satisfied expression.
As expected of my future wings. As long as they get along, everything's fine…
