Magnus let out a loud, exhausted sigh when he saw Carina stumbling onto the balcony, his hand automatically going to rub his already aching temples.
The night had been disaster enough without adding this to the mix. A sober Carina was trouble. She was spoiled, manipulative, and relentless in her pursuits.
But a drunk Carina? Goddess help him, he was in for a long night.
"Lady Carina," He said, trying to keep his voice professional despite his exhaustion. "Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be in your quarters?"
She staggered toward him, her movements uncoordinated and graceless. A far cry from the calculated elegance she usually displayed.
Before he could step back, she had closed the distance between them, her free hand clutching at the front of his formal jacket while the wine bottle dangled precariously from the other.
"He humiliated me," She slurred, her words running together. "In front of everyone, Magnus. Everyone! Do you have any idea what this means for me?"
