The first time Kaija Sepala saw Juho Maley was at the aviation training center.
It was early morning, and soft morning light was playing on his hair, caressing his high cheekbones. He wore a long-sleeved white shirt, his black tailored pants creaseless, black leather shoes polished to perfection.
When Kaija walked into the room, he was already the center of attention, surrounded by female and male colleagues alike.
There was something so enigmatic about his presence alone that drew people to him. Perhaps it was the warm smile always persistent on his face, or perhaps it was the way he treated everyone with such easygoing playfulness that pleased them.
And yet, when no one was looking, that smile would fade and that playfulness would vanish. His face would become blank and emotionless, his gaze pointed outside the window, as if taking a break from the perfect trainee role he was playing.
