"Specialized bait formula?"
Looking at the reward his cheat ability had given him, Caster's eyes went wide, then filled with pure joy.
If Clair and the Dragon Elder weren't still here, Caster would've grabbed the Dratini, planted kisses all over it, and spun around in celebration.
What did Caster need most right now?
Without a doubt, it was bait formulas!
But not the universal kind of bait. He needed specialized formulas targeting specific-type Pokémon, or even better, exclusive formulas for particular species.
And now, he'd finally gotten one!!
[Specialized Bait Formula (Sea Lion Type): Special bait with extremely strong attraction to sea lion-type Pokémon like Seel and Dewgong. Non-sea lion Pokémon show no interest.]
When he saw the bait formula description, Caster was completely baffled. "I caught a dragon, so why did I get a reward for sea lion types?"
Unfortunately, his cheat ability didn't come with a help function. Caster could only guess it was random and wasn't entirely determined by the type of Pokémon caught.
"Still, sea lion-type Pokémon aren't bad at all. The Kanto region has Seel and Dewgong, and there's also Walrein and the Popplio line. Those are all solid Pokémon."
Caster's interest perked up as he thought about it.
Especially Primarina, which was one of the Alola region's starter Pokémon.
Most importantly, it was gorgeous. Tell me, what trainer wouldn't want to raise a Primarina?
"Hehe!"
Thinking about this, Caster couldn't help but laugh.
But remembering Clair and the Dragon Elder were still watching, he immediately composed himself.
While pretending to examine the Dratini he'd caught, he secretly checked the other reward.
Besides the bait formula, the other basic reward, "Speed Enhancement," was undoubtedly an extremely valuable item. After use, it could increase a Pokémon's base speed stat.
And in the real world, speed didn't just mean going first. To some extent, it also affected dodge rate and battlefield control, making it incredibly important.
Finally, Caster turned his attention to Dratini's stat panel.
"Marvel Scale ability?"
Caster's eyes lit up. "Nice, very nice!"
Marvel Scale was Dratini's hidden ability. After evolving into Dragonite, it would become "Multiscale," which greatly reduced damage taken when HP was full.
Although Dragonite was said to be able to circle the globe in just sixteen hours, its speed and agility in battle weren't particularly outstanding.
Add in its quadruple weakness, and while it was a symbol of strength, it could still take some serious hits.
But with the Multiscale ability, Dragonite essentially started each battle with a special shield, making it nearly impossible for ordinary opponents to one-shot it.
And taking advantage of that opening, Dragonite could use Dragon Dance to boost its stats.
Given Dragonite's stat distribution and its incredibly deep move pool, once it set up, even just one boost could make it terrifyingly powerful. A full sweep wasn't out of the question.
After all, this was a pseudo-legendary Pokémon!
If paired with Roost, the effect would be even better, enough to make opponents feel suffocated with despair!
Can't break through!
Just can't break through at all!
Fighting back his excitement, Caster continued checking Dratini's move list.
For Dragon-type moves, it had Dragon Dance, Draco Meteor, and Breaking Swipe, covering physical attacks, special attacks, and stat boosts. Perfect.
The Breaking Swipe move especially surprised Caster.
Because this wasn't just a move that dealt damage to opponents, it also lowered their attack stat. A truly fearsome technique.
"This Dratini's move pool is really all over the place!"
Continuing down the list, Caster saw a full five status moves covering multiple types.
If you counted Dragon Dance, then out of this Dratini's eight moves, six were status moves.
However, unlike his Pichu, Dratini's status moves weren't sneaky or underhanded. They were pretty straightforward and honest.
Safeguard protected against status conditions.
Haze reset all stat changes to neutral, breaking through opponent setup strategies.
As for Mist, it prevented the user's stats from being lowered.
Finally, Rain Dance and Sunny Day were two completely opposite weather moves.
But now, they both appeared on the same Dratini.
"This Dratini might have exceptional talent for weather control."
Caster rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
According to the Pokédex, Dragonair, Dratini's evolution, emanated a mysterious aura.
It stored enormous energy in its body, concentrating power in the crystal-like orbs on its neck and tail to manipulate the atmosphere.
When its entire body was enveloped in this aura and began to glow faintly, the surrounding weather would change accordingly.
Since ancient times, Dragonair had been worshipped by farmers as divine dragons that controlled the weather.
While Dratini wasn't yet Dragonair, it shared the same lineage and possessed at least some of Dragonair's abilities, just not fully developed due to its youth.
But this particular Dratini clearly had exceptional talent in that area.
Even without evolving, its move pool already showed hints of it.
"Keep fishing!"
Although he was very satisfied with the first Dratini, Caster decided to be safe and catch the remaining two Dratini first.
After getting their rewards and checking their stat panels, he'd make his final choice.
So after patting the first Dratini's head, right in front of it, Caster turned around and started fishing for the second Dratini.
[Caught Dratini. Reward: 1 Extreme Speed TM.]
The cheat's notification appeared, and Caster's eyes lit up. "Extreme Speed?"
Extreme Speed: Normal-type move. Slams into the opponent at blinding speed. Always strikes first.
Extreme Speed was a priority move, but not just any priority move. Its priority level was +2, higher than standard priority moves like Aqua Jet, Bullet Punch, and Mach Punch.
Most importantly, it packed serious power.
According to the game mechanics, it had a base power of 80, double that of Bullet Punch and Mach Punch's 40.
Next, this Dratini's stat panel appeared.
[Pokémon: Dratini]
[Type: Dragon]
[Ability: Shed Skin (May heal status conditions by shedding its skin)]
[Moves: Dragon Dance, Dragon Breath, Dragon Tail, Twister, Extreme Speed, Aqua Tail, Wrap]
"Shed Skin ability?"
Caster raised an eyebrow.
A Dratini with Shed Skin would evolve into a Dragonite with Inner Focus, which not only prevented flinching but also negated the attack-lowering effect of the Intimidate ability.
That was pretty solid too.
As for the moves, this Dratini was also quite good.
However, the only move that really caught Caster's eye was Extreme Speed.
After patting the second Dratini's head, under the hurt gazes of both Dratini, Caster didn't hesitate for a second before fishing up the third one.
[Caught Dratini. Reward: 1 Dragon Cheer TM.]
The cheat's notification appeared, and Caster's eyes lit up again.
Dragon Cheer: Dragon-type move. Raises morale with a dragon's roar, increasing the critical hit ratio of all ally Pokémon on the field except the user.
If allies are Dragon-type Pokémon, their critical hit ratio increases drastically.
Clearly, this was a move perfectly suited for doubles and team battles, similar to Helping Hand but even stronger.
Because Helping Hand could only boost one target at a time, but Dragon Cheer could inspire an entire group. A true support move.
Next, the third Dratini's stat panel appeared. Its ability was also Shed Skin.
Move-wise, besides Dragon Cheer, this Dratini had mastered the devastating Dragon-type attack Outrage. A pure offensive powerhouse.
Seeing that Caster had caught all three Dratini, Clair knew the crucial moment had arrived.
"Which Dratini will Caster choose?"
