Chapter 85 - [85] : So, You Want That Dratini or Not?

۞۞۞۞

The Holy Land's guardian Dragonite let out a startled cry that yanked everyone back from their shock.

"Oh, so you think you're something special! You can fly!"

Wyatt finally caught on that something was wrong and roared in fury, "But pulling off Dragon Dance right in my face? That's straight-up disrespectful!"

Wyatt was pissed now, his eyes blazing with murderous intent. "Flygon, Stone Edge!"

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Flygon's wings beat once, and several razor-sharp stone pillars as thick as tree trunks materialized around it.

Like missiles tearing through the sky, they shot straight at the Gyarados hovering in midair.

"Roaaaar~"

With a thunderous bellow, Gyarados twisted its powerful serpentine body. It spiraled upward, then dove sharply, dodging every single stone pillar while trailing echoing dragon roars in its wake.

This was the Dragon Tamer clan's secret technique for maximizing Dragon Dance.

The missed Stone Edge didn't just waste an attack—it meant Gyarados was about to finish its Dragon Dance. Wyatt was finally starting to sweat.

Caster's Gyarados was way stronger than expected!

If it completed another Dragon Dance, he'd be completely screwed.

So Wyatt absolutely couldn't let Gyarados finish that boost. "Flygon, use Hyper Voice at full power!"

Hyper Voice—a special Normal-type move that dealt damage through deafening sound waves, hitting every Pokémon in range.

Its power was just barely weaker than Hyper Beam.

Most importantly, this was a sound-based area attack. Gyarados couldn't dodge it by weaving around.

BOOM BOOM BOOM! BOOM BOOM BOOM!

Flygon began rapidly beating its wings, and terrifying sound waves radiated outward.

Like a stone dropped into still water, the very air rippled with visible distortions.

Where the sonic waves passed, even the rain shattered into mist that rose in wisps.

"Roaaaar~"

Just as Dragon Dance was about to complete, Gyarados got hit by the sound waves. Its face contorted in pain, and its body inevitably jerked to a halt.

"Gyarados!"

Caster's expression shifted. He hadn't expected Flygon to know Hyper Voice.

Flash! Flash!

Just when everyone thought Gyarados's Dragon Dance would fail, two mysterious glimmers of light flashed across its body.

Dragon Dance complete! Gyarados's Attack and Speed had increased!

However, as the cost, Gyarados took the full brunt of Hyper Voice. It had burned through quite a bit of stamina and was now breathing hard.

"It actually pushed through!"

A flash of admiration crossed Clair's eyes. "Caster's Gyarados has incredible willpower!"

"Damn it! That didn't work?"

Wyatt's face darkened.

Missing with Stone Edge was one thing, but even though Hyper Voice landed clean, it still couldn't stop Gyarados's Dragon Dance?

"Was that just luck? Or does this Gyarados have an even better grip on Dragon Dance than I thought?"

Wyatt's breathing quickened as his mind raced for a counter strategy.

In the sky, Gyarados had completed its boost, and its aura climbed higher and higher.

Now it held its dragon head high, eyes blazing like torches, radiating lethal intent.

The watching Pokémon quickly lowered their heads, not daring to meet its gaze.

"Roaaaar~"

With a roar, Gyarados launched its counterattack, twisting and coiling as it charged toward Flygon.

Watching Gyarados weave left and right, undulating as it moved, Wyatt's brow furrowed. "This is bad. This Gyarados is too agile. I need to lock down its movement."

With that thought, Wyatt shouted, "Flygon, Draco Meteor!"

BOOM!

A massive energy sphere condensed above Flygon, then launched high into the sky where it exploded.

It transformed into meteor-like energy bolts that spread like a net over the dancing Gyarados.

"Roaaaar~"

Gyarados darted left and right, constantly weaving to dodge.

But under Flygon's control, the energy bolts kept closing in, steadily compressing Gyarados's flight space until there was nowhere left to go.

Seeing this, Caster looked up and shouted, "Gyarados, Protect!"

Buzz!

A translucent barrier appeared, blocking all the meteor energy bolts. Explosive blasts echoed endlessly.

"There's my opening!"

Wyatt's face lit up with hope as he prepared to go all in. "Flygon, Outrage!"

Draco Meteor had never been meant to defeat Gyarados—it was to lock down its movement and guarantee Flygon's next attack would land.

Outrage—that was Flygon's real finisher!

Wyatt didn't expect Flygon's Outrage to take down Gyarados in one shot, but as long as he could pin it down, his odds of winning were high.

Because Outrage wasn't a single attack—it would strike continuously two to three times without any pause.

Caster's Gyarados was tough. It might tank the first hit, but it definitely couldn't handle the second.

This was Wyatt's chance to turn the tables!

"Yooo~"

As Dragon-type energy surged through its body, Flygon's eyes turned red and its entire body glowed crimson.

It entered a berserk state, letting Dragon-type energy envelop it completely as it charged viciously toward Gyarados in midair.

"Trying to force a head-on clash?"

Caster's eyes narrowed. He'd clearly seen through Wyatt's plan.

He glanced up at the pouring rain, then at Gyarados, and a cold smile crept across his lips. "Then I'll end you in one strike!"

"Gyarados, full-power Waterfall!"

"Roaaaar~"

With a dragon's roar, the translucent barrier around Gyarados vanished, but an incredible surge of water erupted around its body—like a raging river flowing through the sky.

Rain! Dragon Dance! Ocean's Decree!

With these three boosts stacked, Gyarados's physical Attack had more than tripled, reaching an insane 13,000 points.

How could it possibly fear a head-on collision?

On the contrary, head-on collisions were exactly where it thrived.

"Roaaaar~"

"Yooo~"

In the sky, one blue and one green Pokémon slammed into each other with tremendous force.

But the stalemate Wyatt expected never happened. The moment they made contact, Flygon crumbled like an egg against a rock. Its body was pushed backward by Gyarados the entire way.

After being shoved over a hundred meters, Flygon finally crashed to the ground, smashing out a massive crater on impact.

As for its eyes—they'd long since turned into spirals.

The scene fell dead silent!

No one had expected Wyatt and Flygon to lose so completely.

"Roaaaar~"

It wasn't until Gyarados let out another roar, its aura rising yet again, that everyone suddenly snapped out of it.

The match was over.

Caster and Gyarados had swept through Wyatt's two Pokémon in a clean two-for-zero.

But this wasn't Gyarados's limit—it was the match's limit.

Because this was a two-on-two battle. If it had been a full team battle, Wyatt would have gotten steamrolled even harder.

And in theory, the current Gyarados now had the power to sweep an entire team of six!

"Flygon is unable to battle. The winner is Caster."

After what felt like an eternity, Clair finally snapped out of her shock and quickly announced the result.

Without sparing Wyatt or Flygon another glance, the Dragon Elder's eyes were locked onto Gyarados as it descended from the sky, his gaze burning with intensity.

Suddenly rising from his stone seat, the Dragon Elder strode quickly to Caster and said seriously, "So, you want that Dratini or not?"
