Chapter 144 - Chapter 144 Gwen's Coming of Age Ceremony

After an uneventful visit to the underwater tunnel, the two walked out of the tunnel exit one after another, the sea breeze gently blowing the woman's long black hair onto the young man's face.

His face tingled, accompanied by the scent of violets.

Vincent still kept his head slightly lowered, appearing somewhat preoccupied, and continued to walk forward, hand in hand with Diana, like a child.

Diana seemed to know what Vincent was thinking, so she looked back at him and whispered, "Still thinking about that little interlude just now?"

Vincent nodded, raising his eyes, a glimmer of light flashing within them: "Perhaps… my classmate wasn't mistaken."

After all, he had indeed seen one shark with hands and feet!

Speaking of which.

Since leaving the island nation where Starro was imprisoned last time, he hadn't seen anything about the surviving members of the Suicide Squad anywhere else, not even on TV or in newspapers.

What happened to them afterward?

Were they re-imprisoned in Belle Reve Prison, specially built for heavy offenders, or sent to Arkham Asylum in Gotham City for mental treatment, or did they seize the opportunity to escape the control of the U.S. high-ups and lurk in some dark corner of the World?

Although they were the most heinous criminals in the World, these were all results brought about by Vincent under the Three-in-one, making him unable to not care.

"I've got this," Diana said, gently squeezing the young man's palm, her slender, fair fingers sinking into the warmth.

She paused, only then realizing.

Their hands had barely let go since they got in the car. It had just changed from Vincent holding her hand to her actively holding his, as if they had grown accustomed to intimate physical contact.

This was outside the house.

Although many parents also held their children's hands, Diana's heart still trembled slightly.

"Aunt…" Vincent was about to continue discussing with Diana when two familiar figures, one large and one small, greeted them outside the underwater tunnel exit.

"Hey, Miss Diana! Little Vincent!" Mary Jane waved her arms enthusiastically as she walked over with Gwen.

"Miss Diana, good afternoon… It's a pleasure that you could join us for the Museum visit!"

Gwen seemed a little reserved in front of Diana, dressed in a black uniform and a little dress, exuding the quiet elegance of a well-bred young lady, bowing politely as she greeted her. Xinbi Quge

"Gwen, you're not usually like this…" Vincent mumbled, then saw Gwen glare at him secretly, so he stopped talking.

"Miss Jane, long time no see."

"Gwen, you've grown so much, and you look more and more beautiful." Diana smiled, nodding to the mother and daughter in turn, responding with impeccable grace and politeness.

Gwen reached up to cover her slightly flushed cheeks, her eyes full of joy, as if Diana's approval was very important to her.

"I always thought I took good care of myself, but compared to you, I really feel like I'm getting worse every year." Mary Jane stepped forward familiarly and took Diana's hand, sighing.

"Not at all, you still look very young." Diana smiled slightly.

Mary Jane sighed, "Look, I have wrinkles on my face, it's just not obvious with makeup. Unlike you, your skin is bright and dewy like a twenty-something girl."

"Miss Diana, isn't she only in her twenties?"

Felicia, the assistant instructor passing by, stopped her steps. She couldn't help but join the conversation, looking at Diana with a curious expression: "She should only be two or three years older than me, right?"

"Miss Felicia, you don't know this, Miss Diana, she's at least…" Mary Jane stopped speaking in time, covering her mouth slightly with her hand, and said apologetically: "Sorry, I always hate it when people discuss age, and I almost fell into that trap just now."

"It's alright."

Diana gently shook her head, subtly releasing Vincent's hand, and gently patted the back of his hand, saying, "You and Gwen go for a walk nearby first, don't go too far."

"Can we?" Gwen's eyes lit up slightly, and she looked at Vincent.

"Go ahead, people your age have more to talk about." Mary Jane seemed to suddenly remember something and said to Vincent, "Oh, little Vincent. Remember to come to my house this Sunday for dinner."

This Sunday?

Vincent paused, exchanging glances with Gwen; they had just made plans for Saturday yesterday.

Gwen was also a little puzzled and asked curiously, "Mom, why does it have to be Sunday?"

Mary Jane smiled, "Silly girl, have you forgotten? This Sunday is your birthday, your seventeenth coming-of-age ceremony! Or are you not planning to have little Vincent come to your coming-of-age ceremony?"

"Oh my goodness, I really almost forgot!"

Gwen froze, then slapped her forehead in realization, understanding how embarrassing it was, especially in front of Vincent's family and the assistant instructor.

Seeing Vincent's lips curl up, almost chuckling, Gwen immediately flushed and, grabbing his hand, ran out.

"Um… Aunt, I'm going to go explore for a bit." Vincent quickly turned back and said.

"Go, don't go too far."

Diana smiled and nodded, continuing her conversation with Mary Jane and Felicia… on the second floor reception hall of the Ocean Research Museum.

Gwen pulled Vincent to the railing of the hall. Looking out through the floor-to-ceiling windows, they could see the fishing boat dock and the vast blue Ocean.

Noon was almost over, and the Sun was tilting towards the west, causing the sea surface to shimmer.

"Please, forget what just happened!" Gwen bit her lip, her short hair shaking like a rattle, letting out an almost imperceptible whimper: "Oh my goodness, I actually did that in front of your aunt…"

"You're actually quite cute when you're so clumsy." Vincent covered his mouth, patted her shoulder, and said sincerely, "Don't worry, my aunt won't lower her opinion of you because of this."

"Darn it, just laugh if you want to!"

Gwen angrily raised her small, pink fist, and only Vincent knew that this fist was not to be trifled with.

Gwen suddenly remembered something and said worriedly, "Oh no, you've already made plans with Kara to visit her cousin on Sunday."

Vincent pondered for a moment: "I'll explain it to her tomorrow."

Gwen shook her head and said with certainty, "It was my mistake, so I'll be the one to explain. If possible, see if she's willing to change it to Saturday."

"Either is fine."

Vincent agreed. In his opinion, Gwen was like a sister to him, so it didn't really matter who explained.

"I can't believe you're almost seventeen and having your coming-of-age ceremony."

Vincent looked at the beautiful girl in front of him. He didn't know his own birth date, so he never celebrated birthdays.

Christmas was a special case; that was the night his aunt picked him up.

"For my coming-of-age ceremony, you'd better prepare a good gift." Gwen clasped her hands behind her back, subtly pushing her well-developed chest forward, incredibly close to Vincent's body.

She lifted her sparkling golden short hair from bottom to top, blinked her jewel-like eyes at him, and whispered in a meaningful tone, "Then, I'll claim it along with the previous compensation!"

"Of course!"

Vincent didn't think too much and readily agreed.
