Chapter 59 — Fester Regains His Memories

Dr. Schloss didn't even manage a groan before her eyes rolled back and she collapsed limply to the floor.

Fortunately, tonight was not a full moon—otherwise Russell would never have been able to keep his sanity.

Russell pulled his wand from her clothing and tried to cast a spell.

Nothing happened.

"Don't bother," Morticia said calmly. "It won't work."

She wasn't surprised at all, as if she had anticipated this outcome.

"Oh… right," Russell nodded.

Just to be safe, he confiscated everything on Dr. Schloss—her belongings, a compact handgun, and several vials filled with unknown liquids.

He tore down the curtains and bound her tightly, then kicked her aside.

It was lucky he had transformed into a werewolf; otherwise, there was no way he could have subdued her so easily.

Then he rushed over and helped Morticia down.

"Aunt Morticia—are you all right?"

"Of course, Russell," she said gently, stroking his head.

"But how did you know I was here?"

Russell scratched the back of his head, embarrassed.

"I… I didn't expect any of this either. I originally planned to come alone. I thought they were all Muggles—who would've guessed Dr. Schloss was hiding her magic so well?"

The thought still made his heart pound.

Just then, a faint rustling came from beneath the pile of books.

Russell stiffened and raised his wand.

The next second, Fester burst out of the heap, dazed.

"Where… is this place?" he muttered, clutching his head.

"It feels… familiar."

Then he looked around.

"…Did I come home?"

A smile slowly spread across his pale face as he walked toward Morticia, about to speak—

When suddenly—

"Tish, my love! Your prince has come to save you!"

Crash!

Gomez came flying through the window like a hurricane.

Before anyone could react, he hooked Fester by the neck, twisted his hips, and slammed him onto the floor in one brutal motion.

The impact was so violent Russell swore he heard bones crack.

Every hair on his body stood on end.

"A werewolf?!" Gomez spun on Russell, wand raised, its tip glowing a sinister green.

"Uncle Gomez! It's me—Russell!" Russell shouted in panic.

He was a werewolf now, yes—but even he wouldn't survive an Avada Kedavra.

"Russell?"

Gomez froze.

Clarity returned to his eyes as he quickly surveyed the room and grasped what had happened.

"My God… this all feels like some twisted dream."

He lowered his wand and opened his arms wide, stepping forward—

Only to walk straight past Russell and pull Morticia into his embrace.

"Morticia… losing you would be agony."

"To live without you would be death itself."

Then, as if nothing else in the world existed,

they kissed.

Completely forgetting where they were.

How sickeningly affectionate—Russell quietly withdrew his hands.

"Gomez, my brother!" Fester sprang to his feet with a single fluid motion and strode forward.

"You despicable fraud!" Gomez snapped, fury lighting his eyes. "You played with my emotions—and you dared try to harm Morticia!"

He drew his wand, ready to cast a curse.

"My love, you may have misunderstood him," Morticia said gently, stopping him. She then explained everything that had happened, including how Fester had shielded her from the Memory Charm.

"So you're saying Dr. Schloss found you, wiped your memories with Obliviate, and told you she was your mother," Gomez murmured, piecing it together.

"And just now… her spell accidentally restored everything she had erased?"

"That's right," Fester said bitterly. "She lied to me. She said she was my mother."

Then he kicked the unconscious Dr. Schloss for good measure.

"Extraordinary," Gomez marveled. After a moment's thought, he chose to believe him.

"I knew you were my brother. A true Addams."

"After all, no one else could dance the Mamushka that perfectly."

Russell, feeling slightly out of place, suddenly remembered something and opened his status panel.

Just as he thought—after transforming into a werewolf, his stats had changed completely.

His magic power had dropped to zero, which explained why he couldn't cast spells earlier.

Meanwhile, his physique had increased by three—more than double his original strength.

"Gomez… help me…"

At that moment, Tully—who had been hanging above—suddenly opened his eyes and weakly struggled, attempting to stir Gomez's sympathy.

He wasn't dead after all.

Russell sighed in relief—it turned out the rope was tied in a slipknot, which was the only reason the man was still breathing.

In the end, the matter wrapped up neatly enough.

The following day, Esmeralda forced Dr. Schloss to drink copious amounts of Veritaserum, confirming that Fester had told the truth.

As for Dr. Schloss and Tully's fate…

Russell never saw either of them again.

The holidays passed far too quickly, and soon it was time to return to school.

Just like before, the Addams family drove Russell to the station—

only this time, there was one extra passenger.

"Hogwarts! I've heard of it—it's famous, isn't it?"

Fester wriggled excitedly in his seat.

"Can I go see it?"

Faced with Fester's pleading eyes, Russell hesitated and looked helplessly toward Morticia.

"Absolutely not," Morticia replied flatly, ignoring her brother-in-law's disappointment.

Perhaps because he had been controlled by Dr. Schloss for so long, Russell felt that Fester still had a childlike innocence about him—

…as if the world had somehow spared a piece of his purity.
