"Sil, I'm putting you in time out." He put Sil in his shadowlock and his MC immediately started going down. He told Sam he'd be right back and he and Sil fought a small bit in the shadowlock until Sil calmed enough to talk. Sil had taken a punch to the gut so he got deflated pretty fast.
Sil started crying, "I don't know why I'm like this."
Quinn told him it wasn't just him but he doesn't do anything which makes the loneliness worse.
When they left the shadowlock, Sil decided to go talk to Borden. Just after he left, a message came in and Sam let Quinn know a demon-tier beast had been located. A demon tier crystal was needed to help Sil so it was one more step in the right direction.
Quinn knew Sil would want to tell Lana so he stopped by the training room to tell him. Quinn then went to talk to Alex about demon-tier equipment then called a meeting about preparing for the trip. Sil was not present but Quinn was shocked by the number of people who wanted to go. He chose Sil, Linda, Fex, Wevil, Peter, Layla, and Eno.
Meanwhile, Sil was telling Lana he was going on a demon-tier hunt with Quinn and oh, by the way, he attacked Quinn.
"You did WHAT?!?!" Lana was incensed. "Why did you do that? He's your best friend!"
"I … I don't know… I just… I lost control of my emotions." He looked into his wife's eyes, "please, tell me what to do."
"Have you been meditating when you're away?"
Sil shook his head, "not daily like we do here. It makes me miss you."
Lana smiled, "do you need a pillow to sleep with on the ship that's shaped like me?"
Sil chuckled, "do they make such things?"
Lana laughed, "I have my own personal seamstress. If I ask for it, I'll get it."
He leaned in and kissed her deeply, "may I have a Lana pillow?"
She chuckled, "yes but it won't have any images on it. Do you want wings or no wings?"
"I have to have the wings. They are part of you."
"Okay, while you're gone, I'll have a pillow made for you. Now, give me a kiss and get back to Quinn before he leaves without you as punishment for attacking him!"
The next day, Lana went to the ship. She got a lot of looks walking through the ship. She didn't know if it was her or the fact she was carrying something shaped like her. She made sure to smile and wave at all those staring. She placed a Lana-sized and shaped stuffed pillow on their shared bed in his room. It wasn't like she spent a lot of time there.
Sil was only gone for three days. He explained the demon-tier was a tree that was able to control others. In this case, it had been going on for months. Every week the shelter was attacked and people would go missing. While the team was there, they were attacked by two demi-god beasts as well as several weaker beasts just hours after arriving. The humans started returning shortly after the fight ended.
By the time nightfall was upon the shelter, all the humans had returned and were attacking everyone. They were falling under the control of the tree. The tree was already controlling the Graylash members before the team even arrived. The tree witnessed Sil's power during the attack and decided it wanted to add Sil to its collection. Clearly, the team didn't agree with that.
While the team was dealing with the people who were controlled, Quinn was locating the demon-tier and realized it was a beautiful, sparkling pink tree within the shelter itself. After Quinn attacked the tree, it had to release control over some of the people so it could strengthen its control on the Graylash people it had defending itself. Quinn was forced to kill all of them, including Robin Graylash who was one of the strongest Graylash members but he succeeded in killing the tree-beast.
Sam sent Linda, Wevil, and Alex the next day. They stayed there for three days when Quinn got called and told the Graylash was under attack by the dalki. Quinn went to help the Graylash Second Fleet alone. He found there were vampires working with the dalki and killed both on the ship. Bonnie and Voyd were on the ship and Voyd recorded everything, including red aura attacks and red eyes just like Quinn's. Quinn was able to eliminate the intruders but unable to take anyone alive.
Owen Graylash was hurt and Quinn wanted to go to him but he needed something from the Cursed ship first. He stopped by the planet he had just been on and picked up everyone but Linda, Wevil and Alex and headed back to the ship. All Sil knew from that point was Eno and Sam planned to leave with him when he was ready to go to Owen's side.
Lana couldn't believe everything that happened in such a short time.
"I'm glad you came home alive." She hugged and kissed her husband tenderly. The babies were crawling all over the living room.
"I'm glad to be home." He sat on the couch and pulled his wife into his lap. "What did you do while I as gone?"
"Well, the book on plants that I posted I was looking for on the marketplace finally came in. It cost me a lot more than I was expecting but I paid for it and have looked through it. I think it will do. I was thinking specific information I needed was in there and I'll try that out in a few days."
"I have been translating this magic stuff. It turned out, Eno wrote his journals in code so no one could decipher what he wrote. I don't realy know if I need to decode it or if everything is in this crystal but I think baby steps are needed based on what I've learned so far. I've also been thinking. I'm wondering if there is a spell on the door to my mother's lab and the key is the sword since she always had it with her."
Sil nodded, "it would explain why even the beasts recognize it. She probably fought them when they were it the area."
"Fought? No. That beast was angry she was dead. The protected her."
"Protected her?"
Lana nodded, "now I need to figure out why."
