With Sil gone, Dobin didn't feel comfortable staying on the Cursed Ship. This was not his home. He didn't even know his way around here. Where did the Blade kids even live here? He had never in his life seen his sister in this state. Despite his tough exterior telling everyone she was going to be fine, inside he was falling apart. She had always been there. What was even wrong with her? Where is that healer?
Just after he thought it, she walked it. "Is she still asleep?"
Dobin looked up at her confused, "are you expecting her to be awake?"
The healer nodded, "her wounds are all healed. She simply needs rest. You can keep her here or she can sleep in her own bed. Whatever fight she engaged in took a lot out of her."
Withouting wait for Dobin, Caser pulled the blankets off the bed after jumping to the floor. He made himself bigger then eased his "human" onto his back. He tapped the blanket and looked at Dobin expectantly.
Dobin chuckled, "do you want me to put this on her?"
Caser nodded. Dobin did as he asked then looked at the nurse. "I guess we are taking her home."
The nurse nodded. "If you need anything, I'll be here."
Dobin nodded, "thank you for your help."
She looked at him curiously, "I didn't do anything. She required no healing when she got here. Just rest."
Dobin looked back at his sister strangely then they left the room. He had no idea where he was going but Caser did. They soon found themselves in a room full of kids that were quite confused. Borden had been called away to go with Quinn. This was the first time they had no Peter and no Borden. Who was going to do their training?
They noticed the new arrivals and realized they were going home. The ship didn't feel like home anymore. They had their own space in Lana's settlement and it just felt more like a home. With no words exchanged, Deal walked up to Caser and placed a hand on the sleeping Lana. "Is she going to be okay?"
Dobin nodded, overtaken by the strangeness.
Deal nodded, "Let's go home everyone." With Deal leading the way to the teleporter, everyone followed. Dobin entered his codes. They all went through.
Once they were all through, Deal turned back to Dobin. "We missed our classes this morning with all the chaos. Is there going to be a teacher assigned us since Borden is out for now?"
Dobin's head felt full of cobwebs. "Have you received weapons training?"
The kids all looked at each other. Deal turned back to him, "not for some time. Do you have a teacher?"
"Let me go see if he's available once I get Lana in her home and safe. Winnifred has been staying down here in your area to be available for when you need her so you can go straight there."
The kids got excited and ran that direction. Deal started running as well but stopped. He turned around, "thanks Dobin. And everything really will work out," and he was off with his brothers and sisters.
Dobin smiled after the little boy who was far beyond his years. Caser rubbed his head against Dobin's hand then started walking toward the elevator. Time to get mom to bed. Dobin smiled broader. It seemed everyone cared about his sister and he felt less lonely.
They got Lana home and in bed. Caser insisted she sleep with dad's pillow so Dobin arranged that. Caser then climbed in bed with mom and wrapped his tentacles around her. The bed seemed to groan a bit under his new weight. Dobin smiled and left her to his care after making sure the girls knew she was there. He could hear a lively story being told from the nursery.
Fiza rushed out to look at Lana then nodded to Dobin. "Where's Sil?"
"He got called away by Quinn. The kids are below again. Borden went with Quinn this time. Winnifred is with them but we need to arrange teachers since they missed everything today."
Fiza nodded.
"I'm going to ask Steven to teach them weapons," Dobin stated.
"I'll go get Sirus and the other teachers and see if they want to do extra lessons as well," Fiza added. "Tomorrow they can resume the normal schedule with us augmenting since Borden is away. Remember, Lana wanted them to learn domestic skills as well. Sewing, cooking, maybe even a bit of foraging. Skills they may find useful."
Dobin thought about it. "She did say cooking and sewing for sure. I'll stop by Dilly's shop on the way to find Steven."
Fiza nodded and smiled as they both left, sprung into action to help the most important person in their lives.
Once they were alone in the room, Caser climbed off the bed and opened his mouth. He opened the drawer next to her bed and put a crystal in her drawer. It was the beast crystal from the demon-tier. He saw it laying on the ground with a bit of flesh on it. He used his tentacles to eat the flesh and hide the crystal for his mom. She earned it.
Caser then peeled back the blankets to expose the buckle that fastened her scabbard to her waist. Her sword was still in her hand, even now it was on the hilt. While she lay in bed in the infirmary, Caser careful maneuvered it to get the sword put away but it was delicate work for him. His human father didn't even notice. Caser wondered if it was normal for a human to keep their hand on such a thing even while sleeping.
Now, after a bit of work with his tentacles, Caser was able to loosen the buckle and remove the sword from Lana's waist. Since the sword was on the other side, he had one more step. Lana's hand had finally slipped from the hilt. He climbed back on the bed and wrapped his teeth around the scabbard and pulled gently to not wake her up until it was completely free.
Caser laid it down on the bed and used his nose flip the scabbard over and over to wrap the belt around the it then picked it up and placed it on her night stand. From which it promptly fell but he grabbed it with his teeth before it hit the ground. He decided to lay it on the floor, just along the edge of the bed. He wanted it close by in case she needed it.
Caser covered her back up, peaked in at the babies, then climbed back in bed with Lana as if he had done nothing. He placed his head on her chest and purred lightly until he, too, was asleep.
