"Maybe you should give him a call," Eli said. "He seems all out of sorts. And tell him for fuck's sake, he better not sneak out after curfew again. If I actually catch him, I'll have to do something about it."
Eli was going to look the other way? A lucky break. Probably the last one they'd get.
"Sure," Blair said, his voice coming out quiet and far-away. "I'll call him. I'll tell him. Don't worry. He's not going to do anything stupid."
But Blair couldn't make that promise either.
Blair knew better than to think Eli's suggestion was a gentle request rather than an absolute requirement. So he called Nik. And when Nik didn't answer, he called again.
