"What's going on?" Coulson anxiously asked his subordinate.
"Officer, ever since that person broke in, the hammer seems to be constantly emitting powerful electromagnetic waves. Our system is struggling to cope, and many devices have already malfunctioned," the subordinate replied urgently.
Coulson quickly picked up his walkie-talkie: "Barton, respond if you read me!"
Barton, from his high vantage point, replied, "Do you want me to shoot down this intruder with an arrow, Officer, or would you rather see him take down more of our people?"
"Be ready to shoot at any moment, and await my command." Coulson jogged over to the small platform, watching Thor take down the last person below and slowly walk towards the hammer.
"You'd better give the order quickly, Coulson. I almost want to cheer for this guy; his combat power is astonishingly strong." Barton drew his bowstring taut, ready to fire.
In Coulson's eyes, Thor was striding confidently towards the mysterious hammer, a radiant smile on his face, as if it were a treasure he had long dreamed of.
Coulson was very curious if this strong stranger, who had triggered the hammer's magnetic field, truly had the ability to lift it.
The rain in the sky grew heavier, but Thor seemed to be enjoying the moment, laughing at the hammer on the ground for a long time before slowly reaching out his hand towards it.
Barton, seeing this, said urgently, "Last chance, Officer, aren't you going to give the order? He's about to touch that hammer!"
Coulson mused, "Wait, I want to see."
Thor, smiling, gripped the hammer handle with one hand and pulled hard, only to find he couldn't lift it at all. The smile on his face instantly vanished without a trace.
He had vaguely guessed the reason.
Thor switched to gripping the handle with both hands and pulled desperately, his face contorted from the effort. "Ah! Ah—!" he roared, his legs sinking into the mud, yet he still couldn't move it an inch.
Upon realizing the truth, Thor wailed in the pouring rain, his tears mixing with the rainwater on his face.
"Why... why?!" He cried out to the sky, then collapsed powerlessly to the ground.
The rain poured down, drenching his entire body.
Coulson picked up his walkie-talkie and said calmly, "Alright, the show's over. Ground forces, move out."
Barton, seeing that Thor had no will to resist, finally lowered his bow.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents took the broken Thor away, and he, having no will to resist, was limp and numbly allowed himself to be manipulated.
Jane Foster waited anxiously outside the Base for a long time.
Finally, she learned that Thor had been captured.
"It's over. All the data I painstakingly collected seems to be lost," she thought with a touch of sadness.
"No matter what, I have to find a way to rescue him." Although Thor hadn't displayed Thor's superpowers just now, through their earlier conversations, Jane found that his knowledge of mythology and the Universe far exceeded that of ordinary people, unlike what an Earthling would know.
She still firmly believed that this man was the legendary Norse God of Thunder.
In the interrogation room, Thor was firmly secured to a metal chair, unable to move.
Coulson walked in, looked him up and down, then shook his head and said, "You made our elite S.H.I.E.L.D. team look so disheveled, like a bunch of supermarket security guards earning minimum wage. That really hurts our pride."
Thor remained expressionless, not saying a word.
Coulson stroked his chin, pondering, "In my experience, to defeat them, you must have undergone similar professional training. Not talking, huh? That's alright, let me guess where you're from..."
Just then, the communication device in Coulson's pocket suddenly beeped. He quickly pulled it out and glanced at it, his expression changing, clearly indicating urgent business to attend to.
Coulson hurried towards the door, but before leaving, he didn't forget to leave one last remark: "Regardless, we will get what we want."
With that, he quickly walked out of the interrogation room, slamming the door shut behind him.
Only Thor remained in the room, sitting expressionless in the chair, his gaze vacant.
Just then, Loki's figure suddenly appeared before Thor, startling him like a phantom.
"Loki—!" Thor looked up in surprise, "How did you get here?"
Loki put on a sorrowful act, his voice choked: "I had to come see you, brother."
"What happened, is it..." Thor, seeing his unusual expression, immediately asked nervously.
"Father is no longer among the living." Loki didn't wait for Thor to finish, but eagerly blurted out the shocking news.
Thor's face instantly turned pale, his body stiff, his eyes wide with disbelief. How could this be!
Loki clenched his fists, pretending to endure grief. But this was all just a trick to deceive Thor.
"No... this can't be," Thor murmured. He had never imagined he would suddenly hear the news of his father's passing.
"Your banishment, and the worry over the war, became too much for him to bear." Loki slowly approached, patted Thor's shoulder, his face full of pity. All of this was part of his plan.
"I actually pleaded for you, but he wouldn't listen. He knew you couldn't lift Thor's hammer anymore, yet he kept it by your side; it was truly cruel. Now the burden of the throne has fallen upon me," Loki continued to mislead.
Outside the door, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s inside agent, the Terminator 66, saw Coulson exit Thor's interrogation room and quickly sent an encrypted message to his accomplices:
"Loki has arrived on Earth. Numbers 87, 76, and 65, you can proceed to Thor's hammer location and get into position."
"Command received. We are executing immediately." Several androids quickly replied to confirm.
At the same time, Xiao Mei, the beautiful android on her way to rendezvous with Venom, was also remotely monitoring the situation through Skynet. She quietly observed and directed every move here.
Thanks to some spoilers provided by Han Qiuya, Xiao Mei and her team had prior knowledge of certain key events.
In the interrogation room, Thor's eyes welled up with tears as he looked up at Loki, pleading, "Brother, can I still go home?"
Loki feigned difficulty and slowly said, "The terms of the truce reached with Jotunheim are your permanent banishment to Midgard. Mother, for the stability of Asgard, could only agree to such a demand."
As he spoke these false words, Loki felt a hint of pleasure; he enjoyed the feeling of deceiving Thor.
Thor's eyes widened, shaking his head in disbelief: "No... Mother, how could she..."
Loki feigned a sorrowful sigh: "We are also very helpless, brother. What you did caused the Nine Realms to fall into war; we had no choice."
Hearing these words, Thor lowered his head in pain.
Loki saw his brother's broken state and sneered inwardly. His scheme was unfolding step by step. Next, he would claim Thor's hammer and rule Asgard!
"I came to say goodbye, brother. I am also very sorry," Loki said insincerely.
"No, I should apologize. Thank you for coming all this way to see me," Thor said softly, his eyes red.
Thor, completely fooled by Loki, was still grateful for Loki's "consideration."
"Then I'll be going. Goodbye." Loki used his invisibility spell and turned to leave the interrogation room.
"Goodbye." Thor looked in the direction where Loki had vanished, his eyes full of reluctance.
Just then, Coulson walked in and smiled, "I just got back. Goodbye to what?"
