Chapter 329 - Chapter 329: Leaving the Genesis Planet

Chapter 329: Leaving the Genesis Planet

The shuttle carrying Akira, Kirk, and the others smoothly docked with the Enterprise's hangar bay.

When the hatch opened and Akira's massive mechanical body stepped onto the deck, the first thing that came into view was Mann's squad, who had been waiting there.

They had clearly just finished their clearing operation and still bore the marks of battle.

Their power armor was marked with scorch marks from energy weapons and uncleaned alien blood. Although their heavy weapons were stowed, the aura of killing intent tempered through actual combat still lingered, making the surrounding air feel somewhat heavy.

The busy Federation crew members in the hangar couldn't help but move a bit more cautiously when they saw them.

Their eyes were filled with gratitude, but deeper down, there was an unconcealable awe. These crew members had either personally heard the brief but brutal sounds of combat over the comm channels or seen the aftermath.

The Klingons, warriors renowned for their bravery, appeared so incredibly fragile in front of this squad!

That highly efficient, almost cold-blooded method of clearing enemies was completely different from the Federation's tactical style, which focused more on suppression and non-lethal strikes. It brought an intense cognitive shock to the crew.

However, Akira walked straight through this invisible field woven with gratitude and fear.

His sensors clearly captured these emotional signals, but his logic core categorized them as "irrelevant data streams" and did not process them.

He walked up to Mann. His synthesized voice was as steady as usual, asking the most practical question: "To what extent has the target area been cleared? Has control of the ship's key systems been fully recovered?"

After receiving a positive reply from Mann, he no longer paid attention to the surrounding gazes. Instead, he and Kirk quickly headed to the sickbay.

In the sickbay, the young Spock—or rather, Spock's brand-new adult body—was lying quietly on the bio-bed, the vital signs monitor displaying steady curves.

Dr. McCoy stood to the side, his face still somewhat pale; the burden brought by Spock's Katra within him had not lessened.

Akira stepped forward, and his probe arm conducted another comprehensive scan. The data stream rapidly compared and analyzed before him.

"The individual's physiological state has stabilized," he announced the results. "The growth process has completely stopped, and the cell division rate has returned to normal adult Vulcan standards. After leaving the Genesis planet's energy field, the abnormal resonance effect has disappeared. The potential structural risks and the risk of rapid aging caused by external forced growth have dropped to a negligible level."

This news made everyone in the sickbay breathe a sigh of relief, especially Kirk and Sarek.

This miraculous reversal, from a cold corpse to a vibrant young body, was filled with indescribable shock and relief, even for the experienced members of Starfleet.

Dr. Carol, seemingly to dispel the lingering tension in the air, spoke with a teasing tone of someone who had just survived a disaster: "Honestly, if this 'Genesis' effect could be controlled and used solely to eliminate wrinkles and restore youth, I believe more than half the women in the Federation would go crazy for it."

To everyone's surprise, Akira's steady synthesized voice picked up the conversation, speaking in the tone of a pure technical discussion: "Analyzed from a technical perspective, if the energy dosage and area of effect can be precisely controlled to achieve the reactivation of cellular activity and telomere repair at specific tissue levels, it is theoretically possible to achieve a partial or total 'refurbishment' of the biological organism, reversing some signs of aging. This is not impossible."

This highly rational, even academically interested response stunned everyone present.

They were used to this mechanical Magos discussing engines, weapons, or macro-physics, but they never expected him to offer such a serious technical opinion on a seemingly trivial application like "cosmetics."

In this moment, the impersonal, inhuman aura surrounding Akira seemed to fade slightly, revealing his broad interest, as a pure researcher, in any form of "potential technological application."

Kirk coughed lightly, bringing the topic back on track: "Regardless, this is good news. Ambassador Sarek, Lieutenant Saavik, next..."

Sarek nodded solemnly: "Yes, Captain Kirk. We must head to the Vulcan homeworld immediately. Only in the temple on Mount Seleya, through the ancient fal-tor-pan ritual, can Spock's Katra be safely guided from Dr. McCoy's body back into his newborn vessel. This is the only way for him to truly return."

The Enterprise did not set off immediately.

Although the ritual to return Spock's soul brooked no delay, as a starship belonging to the United Federation of Planets, Kirk first had to fulfill his duties and properly handle the aftermath of this sudden incident.

The Enterprise remained in the Genesis system, conducting temporary repairs on the hull damaged by the Klingons, while waiting for the arrival of the Federation fleet.

Several hours later, a task force consisting of three Federation cruisers arrived in the Genesis system.

After receiving Kirk's detailed after-action report and personally confirming the two Klingon warships that were completely paralyzed like snakes with their fangs pulled, the task force commander expressed full approval of the takeover.

The handover process was swift and orderly.

Federation Marines boarded the Klingon warships via transports, detaining the demoralized Klingon crew members one by one, who were helpless due to the system paralysis.

The two warships themselves were preliminarily secured by Federation engineering ships, prepared to be towed to the nearest starbase for further technical analysis and disposal.

This was undoubtedly a major intelligence and diplomatic harvest.

"We will leave the follow-up matters to you," Kirk said during the final handover with the task force commander. "We have a more important mission."

"Understood, Admiral Kirk. Good luck to you, and may Commander Spock return safely," the commander responded solemnly.

As the Federation fleet began to execute the takeover procedures, the Enterprise finally stood down from its standby status.

Kirk stood on the bridge, which had regained order, his gaze sweeping over the two Klingon warships surrounded by Federation vessels on the main viewscreen, before turning to helmsman Sulu.

"Set a course for the Vulcan homeworld. Maximum safe warp." Kirk's voice was steady and firm.

"Course laid in. Warp drive ready," Sulu operated the console expertly.

"Engage."

The Enterprise's engines emitted a familiar hum. The massive hull turned gracefully, then transformed into a streak of light, disappearing at the edge of the Genesis system.

On the bridge, Kirk's gaze fell upon the coordinates of Vulcan on the star chart ahead. His heart lingered with the anticipation of his best friend's return, and a trace of awe for the ancient and mysterious ritual about to take place at the Vulcan sanctuary.

Inside the cabin, Akira continued to analyze the data streams acquired from the Genesis planet and the Klingon warships. For him, the journey to Vulcan was merely a necessary displacement toward the next node of knowledge.
