Chapter 133: King's Landing Is Shocked, Vhagar Returns

Daemon absorbed a portion of Lamiqiao's followers, forming an elite Dothraki cavalry unit.

The Volantene mercenary group, originally stationed on the eastern border of the Three Daughters, burned their camps and fled overnight, while the Braavosi Sea Lord's fleet, poised for action on the northern shore of the Myrish Sea, could only choose to withdraw after learning of Lamiqiao's devastating defeat.

After the border threat was lifted, Daemon continued to build the Border Wall, cultivate estates, and construct warships and merchant vessels.

Myr, Lys, and Tyrosh were already developed port cities with advanced shipbuilding industries, attracting many excellent shipwrights.

Daemon even brought shipwrights from the Iron Islands and Driftmark in Westeros, with multiple shipyards working day and night to build ships.

Daemon and Gael, riding Caraxes, soared over Myr.

Dothraki, Myrmen, Tyroshi, Northmen, Ironborn, Sistermen, Dornishmen, Lyseni, and liberated slaves from all over the world toiled on Daemon's land.

Gael wrapped her arms around Daemon's waist and softly said, "Daemon, we defeated Khal Lamiqiao, and you became Khal Daemon, while I became the Khaleesi of the Three Daughters.

We should immediately tell King Viserys this good news."

Daemon revealed a gentle smile. "Of course. I will write the letter myself.

Viserys will surely be very happy."

A raven landed at the Maester's Tower in the Red Keep, and Grand Maester Mellos took the letter from the raven's claw.

In the Small Council chamber of the Red Keep, King Viserys read Daemon's letter, overjoyed.

"Daemon, on the back of a dragon, used the Valyrian steel sword Dark Sister to kill the grasslands hero Khal Lamiqiao.

Tens of thousands of Khal Lamiqiao's mounted warriors all surrendered to Daemon."

"Now Pentos, Braavos, Volantis, and the khalasars of the Great Grass Sea are all trembling in fear because of Daemon's illustrious military achievements.

Now Daemon has become Khal Daemon, and his Three Daughters has risen in Essos, becoming a new Dragon Kingdom."

Ser Harrold Westerling, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, had been suffering from illness recently and looked somewhat pale.

However, upon hearing of Daemon's victory, Ser Harrold immediately brightened.

"This is a great conquest comparable to Aegon the Conqueror, Your Grace.

As long as Prince Daemon's Three Daughters remains strong, no enemy across the Narrow Sea can threaten Westeros itself, and enemies within the realm will also be wary of the Iron Throne having such a powerful foreign ally as Prince Daemon."

In the Three Daughters, Daemon was a king, but in Westeros, Daemon was a vassal king beneath the Iron Throne.

Lyman Beesbury, Master of Coin, slowly said, "Braavos, Pentos, and Volantis once threatened to force the Iron Throne and Prince Daemon to submit by blockading the seas and trade.

Now, Daemon's kingdom has risen strongly on the continent of Essos, and the enemies across the Narrow Sea can no longer attempt to blockade Westeros."

Grand Maester Mellos said excitedly, "Prince Daemon has achieved such great feats that he is destined to occupy an important place in the histories of the Three Daughters and Westeros alike. He has already made history through conquest."

Lord Lyonel Strong, Master of Laws, said happily, "When will Prince Daemon return in triumph?

We must hold a grand welcoming ceremony for him."

King Viserys and the members of the Small Council vied to praise Daemon. Only Otto Hightower, Hand of the King, maintained a cold expression.

He said, "Your Grace, it is indeed a good thing that Prince Daemon led Westerosi forces to defeat the enemy, but he now rules over peoples who speak Dothraki, Lysene, Tyroshi, and Myrish.

We should immediately send a large number of maesters and septons so that the Faith of the Seven may take root in the Three Daughters."

Though Daemon was far away in Essos, Otto Hightower's hostility toward him had not diminished in the slightest.

What Otto could least tolerate was that Daemon had conquered the Three Daughters, while Corlys Velaryon the Sea Snake, the Tomb Wolf, Raven Greyjoy of Pyke, Qidan Massey, and others had profited immensely by attaching themselves to Daemon.

House Hightower, by contrast, had gained little.

In Otto's eyes, the Three Daughters were a colony of the Iron Throne, and such a rich land could not be monopolized by Daemon and his followers.

Otto actively contacted the High Septon and persuaded the Starry Sept to prepare to send septons, septas, and holy brothers to the Three Daughters to preach and build septs. This funding would be provided by House Hightower.

In this way, Otto intended to use the Faith to establish sept estates in the Three Daughters and seize a large share of its wealth.

Viserys frowned upon hearing Otto's proposal.

He saw through Otto's intentions clearly.

"Daemon conquered the Three Daughters, and many anointed knights already serve in his armies," Viserys said. "I believe my brother can manage matters of faith himself."

Otto smiled thinly. "Your Grace, Prince Daemon surrounds himself with witches and foreign priests. I have yet to see devout servants of the Seven among them."

Viserys fell silent.

Lord Lyonel Strong said, "My lord Hand, the Three Daughters lie near ancient Andalos, now part of Pentos's lands. The Andals and the Faith of the Seven originated there.

Prince Daemon himself is an anointed knight. His people will naturally follow his example."

The Faith's excessive power had once plunged Westeros into bloodshed.

Only after King Maegor's brutal suppression and King Jaehaerys's later reforms had the Faith Militant been disbanded.

Though the Warrior's Sons and Poor Fellows were long gone, many septons still yearned for their return.

Viserys would never allow Otto to revive such forces in the Three Daughters.

In a lighter mood, Viserys said, "Queen Aemma will give birth in a few months.

I am certain that this time she will give me a healthy son.

I will write to Daemon and ask him to return to King's Landing to welcome the birth of his nephew."

In the study of Myr Castle, scented candles flickered as Daemon and Gael read the letter together.

Gael said excitedly, "Queen Aemma is going to have a baby!

We should return to King's Landing with the children. Aemma has suffered so many miscarriages—she deserves happiness."

Daemon felt a flicker of unease. The year was already 105 AC.

The next day, Daemon went to Corlys Velaryon and Princess Rhaenys.

"We will return to King's Landing together," Daemon said. "Queen Aemma is close to giving birth. King Viserys believes this child will be his long-awaited heir."

Princess Rhaenys nodded. "I hope they are blessed this time.

I will prepare gifts for Princess Rhaenyra and the royal child."

"Where are Laenor and Laena? Tell them to prepare."

Laenor was swimming in the sea with Ser Joffrey Doggett, surrounded by his companions.

Princess Rhaenys soon found her son—but Laena was missing.

In recent days, Laena had taken to riding daily in the wilderness beyond Myr.

That night, her horse returned alone.

Panic seized Corlys and Rhaenys.

Search parties rode out. Rhaenys mounted Meleys, the Red Queen, and searched through the night. Daemon sent Red Priests to aid the effort.

By dawn, Laena was still missing.

Meleys returned empty-handed.

Rhaenys dismounted, pale with fear. "If Laena were safe, she would have returned."

Corlys clenched his fists. "It must be Dothraki remnants. If they have harmed her—"

A roar interrupted him.

Four dragons lifted their heads.

Laenor pointed skyward. "A dragon!"

The massive shape descending from the clouds was unmistakable.

Vhagar.

Daemon, Rhaenys, and the Dragon Guard captain all recognized her at once.

And on her back rode Laena Velaryon, her crimson cloak snapping in the wind.

Vhagar landed outside Myr.

The gathered peoples stared in awe and terror.

Rhaenys embraced her daughter. "Laena! What happened?"

Laena smiled. "I followed Vhagar into the hills and spoke to her in High Valyrian.

She listened."

Corlys and Rhaenys exchanged uneasy glances.

Daemon said calmly, "Laena has Targaryen blood. She has broken no law I will punish."

Laena threw herself into Daemon's arms. "I will serve you faithfully, Your Majesty."

Vhagar's return strengthened the Three Daughters immeasurably.

That night, Daemon and Gael held a grand feast in Myr.

Daemon raised his cup. "This news must reach King Viserys.

We will return to Westeros together—with Vhagar."
