Chapter 102: Return and Sudden Wealth

After hearing List's explanation, Mord summarized the situation.

In other words, while Greed Island appeared on the surface to be an entertaining game created for Hunters, it was actually a pre-prepared training ground Ging had built for his son Gon. And at its deepest level, it served as Ging's means to find like-minded companions.

Three birds with one stone.

One had to admit—Ging was truly a genius.

Moreover, his willingness to reveal Greed Island's true nature to someone he'd never even met demonstrated a breadth of vision and character that couldn't be constrained by the limited perspectives of this small human continent.

Mord looked ahead at the treasure chamber, where various artifacts were enshrined on individual stone platforms.

Each platform was enveloped in visible pillars of Nen energy.

Over the past decade, List had witnessed this scene countless times, yet each viewing still filled him with awe while simultaneously making him feel his own insignificance.

He looked at Mord and suddenly asked: "Do you know about the Dark Continent?"

"The world beyond this one," Mord replied without changing expression. The real substance was about to begin.

After hearing Mord's response, List showed an understanding expression on his face and nodded, saying, "So you did know. The master of this ruin once went to the Dark Continent."

"Or rather, he originally came from the Dark Continent."

This easily explained these magical items—anything was possible in that place.

"This is all we know. If you want to learn more, you'll have to meet Ging in person," List said.

They had guarded this place for over a decade and had finally completed their mission perfectly.

"Then what is this?" Mord took out the box that Dwun had given him earlier and asked.

"Let me answer that," Dwun glanced at List and then spoke up. "This item is the prototype of your players' card collection book."

"The card collection book was something we eleven created based on this box. However, the card collection book can only be used on Greed Island and cannot project these magical items outside. We tested it—once you move a certain distance away from the original item, it becomes ineffective."

"This box can achieve that. We only have this one box left now, meaning that after you, there will be no more clearance rewards."

What Ging and his group had accomplished was already genius enough.

Using only the energy emitted through the gaps in the light barrier by the items on the stone platform, they had created similar ability cards.

Mord looked at the box in his hand. Compared to the three cards he could take with him, he believed this box was the most precious.

"Ging hopes to one day uncover all the secrets of the Greed Island ruins. If you ever find a way to open these special Nen barriers, be sure to come back," List said.

It seemed that part of the reason Ging was heading to the Dark Continent later was because of this place.

...

Returning from the underground ruins to Greed Castle.

Both sides tacitly avoided bringing up the related topics again.

"Congratulations once more, Mr. Mord."

"There will be a parade and party to celebrate the clearance later. After the celebration, please head to the harbor."

List smiled and expressed his blessings again.

"Once you select the three cards as your clearance reward there, the game will officially end."

The parade and celebration were unprecedentedly grand, with everyone on Greed Island rejoicing at this moment.

After thinking for a while, Mord selected three cards and went alone to the harbor.

The only entrance and exit of Greed Island was managed by Eta, one of the twin sisters.

"Are you sure you want to choose these three cards?" Ita asked.

Mord nodded and, amidst the blessings, returned to the real world.

The location he appeared in was Battera's private castle.

Not long after, Bisky, Gon, Killua, and Tsezguerra also emerged from the game.

Tsezguerra looked at Mord and said, "We'll leave the rest to you."

Mord nodded and went to the room where Battera was staying. He gently pushed the door open—the lights in the room were still on. It was already late at night, yet the old man hadn't rested.

The old man had his back to Mord and the others, holding a wooden photo frame, gazing at it with gentle eyes.

He hadn't noticed Mord and the others' arrival at all.

"Mr. Battera," Tsezguerra said softly.

"We've cleared the game."

The old man slowly turned upon hearing the voice, his aged eyes brimming with tears as he looked at Mord and the others.

Mord and his companions finally saw the photograph in the frame—a strikingly beautiful young woman.

"We've obtained the 'Angel's Breath' you require. If I'm not mistaken, you've gone through such tremendous hardships to acquire it for the girl in this photograph, right?"

"Is she your daughter? Or... perhaps your granddaughter?"

Tsezguerra asked the question. He only knew that Battera had commissioned them to clear Greed Island and obtain the "Angel's Breath" capable of healing all ailments, but wasn't aware of the specific details.

Now that the commission was nearing completion, Tsezguerra finally voiced the question that had been buried in his heart for years.

"No, she is my beloved."

As these words fell.

Silence enveloped the scene.

Everyone waited for Battera's story.

"She didn't want others to think she was with me for my inheritance. She returned all the expensive gifts, yet cherished this crude frame I made with my own hands."

"Besides having each other, we wanted nothing else."

"So we vowed to dispose of all our possessions and spend our lives together. But not long after, she met with an accident and fell into a coma, with no telling when she might wake up."

"It's as if she's merely sleeping. I tried every method available, but all the renowned physicians said they could only maintain her current condition."

"That's when I heard about the game Greed Island, rumored to contain spells that could cure all diseases and injuries. That's why I sought you out."

"Tsezguerra, you just said you've cleared the game. Have you obtained that medicine that can heal all diseases and injuries?"

After receiving Tsezguerra's affirmative response.

The old man fell to his knees in excitement, the emotions suppressed for years finally released completely at this moment.

Afterwards, Mord and the others took Battera's private jet and rushed overnight to the hospital where his lover was staying.

Of course, this hospital was also Battera's property, with his lover being the only patient in the entire facility.

Then, under everyone's watchful eyes, Mord used Angel's Breath and successfully revived Battera's lover.

Battera fulfilled his promise, and all the hired participants received their due rewards.

After Tsezguerra explained that all of this was only possible thanks to Mord, Battera gave all his remaining assets to Mord.

Even though he had spent countless amounts of money over the years trying to save his lover, what Battera left for Mord was still an astronomical sum.

Assets worth hundreds of billions...
