Chapter 100: Greed City
"I lost. We'll leave this town as agreed," Razor stated.
Before departing, Razor took Gon aside privately, likely to share some information about Ging.
After completing their mission, Mord and the group returned to Soufrabi, found the female fisher, and under her guidance, successfully obtained the SS-level card "Plot of Beach."
The moment Mord placed the card into the designated slot of his collection book, an announcement echoed throughout every corner of Greed Island.
"Attention, all players!"
"Just now, a certain player has collected all 99 designated slot cards. To commemorate this achievement, a quiz contest will be held in ten minutes, requiring all players in the game to participate."
Mord recognized the voice as Eta's.
"There will be 100 questions, all related to the designated slot cards. The player with the highest accuracy rate will be awarded the No.000 card 'Ruler's Blessing.'"
"Please do not close your collection books yet. Wait a moment!"
Before the announcement even finished, Mord snapped his collection book shut.
For someone like him, who had gathered cards largely through snatching, there was no way he could answer those questions.
Tsezguerra, however, was quite confident. After all, his team had collected the most cards in Greed Island through their own efforts.
Out of 100 questions, he estimated he could answer 80 to 90 percent correctly.
"As agreed, I helped you obtain these last two cards to clear the game. In return, you must take 'Angel's Breath' out of the game world and deliver it to Mr. Battera," Tsezguerra said seriously.
As a bounty hunter, completing accepted missions was his professional code.
Mord nodded and smiled, saying, "Don't worry, you should remember that I'm actually in this game because of Battera's commission."
Although these cards were all precious, they weren't Mord's purpose for coming to Greed Island.
He simply wanted to clarify some matters.
"Someone's coming," Bisky suddenly spoke up from nearby.
Mord had already sensed it too. He looked up to see countless streams of light flying toward his location from the sky.
As the light faded, it revealed players who were still in Greed Island at that moment.
Among them were members of the player alliance that Mord had previously "robbed."
The moment these people saw Mord and the others, they immediately made their intentions clear. To avoid misunderstandings, they spread their hands open and said, "Don't worry, we mean no harm. We're not here to interfere with you."
"On the contrary, we're here to help."
"If we win in the quiz competition and obtain cards, we hope you'll buy them for 2.5 billion yen!"
"For you, that's only five percent of the clearance reward, which shouldn't be too unreasonable, right?"
The speaker voiced the thoughts of the majority—most people coming here at this time held similar ideas.
Of course, there were also a few who came purely with blessings, knowing full well that they stood no chance of winning this quiz competition...
"Congratulations! We're just here to watch, simply wanting to witness this final miraculous moment."
For these people, the game was already over.
All that remained was to simply enjoy the experience.
"First question!"
"What is the name of the elder who gave the hint for No.001 'Forest of One PING'?"
"A. Sheila, B. Shida, C. Hisoka"
...
"Finished!"
"Now announcing the highest scorer!"
"The highest score is..."
"97 points out of a perfect 100!"
"The player's name is contestant Tsezguerra!"
Tsezguerra wiped the sweat from his forehead and said to Mord, "Mission accomplished."
This meant all 100 types of cards had been collected.
Just as everyone was wondering how the 100th card would be obtained.
An owl carrying an envelope flew over from the distant sky, dropped the envelope to Tsezguerra, and immediately left.
Tsezguerra opened the envelope, glanced at it, and handed it to Mord.
"It's not card number zero."
[Ruler's Invitation]
An invitation from the ruler of this island, including a map marking the castle's location and a badge. Only those possessing both items may enter the castle.
This means only one person can enter the castle.
Mord took the card and scanned the other players present. No one dared meet his gaze—these were all people who had experienced his iron-fisted sanctions.
Even those with ill intentions were currently trying to stay as far away as possible.
He glanced at Bisky and Tsezguerra, and the latter spoke up.
"We'll wait for you near the castle."
Mord nodded, opened his collection book, and used "Return."
Limeiro.
Mord stood before a massive castle, its gates slowly opening on their own.
"Welcome to Greed City." A blond, blue-eyed young man in overalls stood behind the gates, awaiting the arrival of the game's conqueror.
Led by List, Mord ventured deeper into the castle, eventually arriving at a large room.
Though the space was originally vast, it was now crammed with food scraps, takeout containers, anime girl figurines, and questionable magazines.
A textbook otaku's den.
However, compared to Killua's second brother—a complete waste—the owner of this room leaned more toward the loser end of the spectrum.
His appearance matched the mess: greasy, unwashed hair, a scruffy beard, and a cigarette dangling from his mouth.
"It's been over a decade, and you're the first player to clear the game."
"Hahaha, Ging finally got one wrong! He was so confident the first to clear would be his son."
"Ging's son Gon is on the island too. He even joined me for the final mission—Razor must have met him. Didn't he mention it?" Mord casually revealed his connection to Ging's son.
This slovenly-looking man was Dwun, one of the creators of Greed Island.
"Take a seat for a moment; I'll find the last card." With that, Dwun turned and began rummaging through the mountain of junk.
Mord glanced around—there was nowhere to sit.
Fortunately, Dwun quickly located the final card.
"Ah, found it!"
"Here!"
Dwun casually tossed a card over.
Mord caught it—it was the designated slot card No. 000, "Ruler's Blessing."
"Brother Dwun, did you forget something?" List, standing nearby, couldn't help but remind him when he saw Dwun frozen in place.
Dwun scratched his head, finally remembering, and turned back to resume his search.
Seizing the moment, Mord looked at List and asked, "The game Greed Island was created by Ging and a group of your companions, right?"
Lisite nodded. "That's correct. With your abilities, you must have realized long ago that this is actually the real world."
