Chapter 83 - Chapter 83: Companions

Alubarna, inside the Royal Tomb not far from the palace.

Slender, elegant fingers gently traced the uneven engravings on the massive black stone. A trace of fervor rose in Robin's usually cool eyes, her expression exceptionally focused.

Cobra sat in a corner nearby. He looked at the ancient text that resembled indecipherable scrawls, then looked at the glamorous woman reading it so seriously, his face extremely grim.

(Pluton must absolutely not fall into Crocodile's hands.)(It seems this is my only choice...)

Cobra glanced out of the corner of his eye at a raised stone brick behind him, mentally resolving to perish together with them in a moment.

"Is there nothing else? King Cobra." After reading the last line of ancient text, Robin's delicate brows furrowed slightly as she asked in a flat tone, "Is this all of the secret hidden in this country?"

Hearing this, Cobra looked strangely at Nico Robin, who seemed somewhat displeased. "I have already done as you asked. Are you still unsatisfied?"

"Is the information you're looking for not up there?"

Although Cobra did not recognize the ancient text, he knew from the oral traditions passed down through generations of kings exactly what the content recorded on this large stone was about.

(It indeed doesn't have what I want, the True History...)

Sighing deeply, Robin did not speak.

Just then, a mass of yellow sand whistled over, slowly coalescing into a tall human figure beside Robin.

"It was certainly hidden well..." Crocodile gazed at the massive square Poneglyph covered in ancient text. The corners of his mouth curled up, and his breathing gradually quickened. Then he looked at the glamorous woman in the moon-white trench coat nearby and spoke with palpable urgency:

"Tell me quickly! Nico Robin." Crocodile took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing his excitement. "Tell me quickly, what is recorded on it!"

"Hmm..." Hearing this, Robin composed herself, then, with an unchanging expression, began to solemnly spout nonsense.

Meanwhile, in the plaza.

Perhaps Crocodile's earth-shattering move just now had inspired his subordinates. The pirates and Baroque Works agents, who had previously been intimidated by the ferocity of the God-Killing Spear, launched an even fiercer offensive.

"Sherlock? Chopper?" Usopp, who was relying on a small blackboard to unleash a terrifying noise attack, immediately shouted in excitement upon seeing his companions flying back from the palace.

"Hey, Sherlock, where's Luffy?" Nami, not seeing the figure of their idiot captain, felt a bad premonition rising in her heart.

Shaking his head, Sherlock dispelled the flying carpet and placed the still-unconscious White Hunter on the ground.

"Luffy went to challenge Crocodile again..."

Hearing the Warlock's words, everyone's reaction wasn't as agitated as Sherlock had imagined; instead, they all looked as if they had expected it.

"Tch, that idiot." Sanji turned sideways to dodge a few bullets shot from a distance. "I had a feeling. That single-minded guy won't stop until he achieves his goal!"

"Yeah, I feel quite helpless too, even though I had planned everything out." Sherlock pushed up his glasses, looking listless. The effects of Insomona were gradually wearing off, and he felt absolutely terrible right now.

"But I just couldn't stop him..." As he spoke, Sherlock once again took the small bag containing Insomona out of his Mirror Space.

Three-Sword Style: Oni Giri!

Three sharp flashes of cold light passed, and a tall, muscular pirate collapsed to the ground, blood splattering. Zoro took Wado Ichimonji out of his mouth, turned back, and flashed a familiar grin at the Warlock nearby.

"Don't worry! Sherlock. Luffy is the man who will become the Pirate King. His dream won't end in a place like this!"

Speaking of this, Zoro struck backhand, cutting down a Baroque Works agent attempting a sneak attack from behind, and continued:

"Besides, compared to your own plans, you should trust your companions more, shouldn't you?"

If one were to ask who among the Straw Hats trusted Luffy the most, it would undoubtedly be this moss-head who joined first.

"Companions, companions..." Sherlock paused, repeating these two words over and over in his mouth.

Back when he was the president of the Goldglint Trading Company, Sherlock had taken on almost the entire business plan himself. Even high-ranking members like Anna only had to follow Sherlock's plan step-by-step.

Even when Sherlock entrusted the Goldglint Trading Company to Anna in Loguetown, it was a decision based on his years of understanding her and her commendable performance over the past year.

Entrust his back to companions? No, no, no, Sherlock's consistent style was to first make himself invulnerable!

Not because he never trusted others, but because he was habitually used to solving everything alone.

But now, Sherlock made an extremely uncharacteristic decision.

(Yes, I should try to trust my companions.)

Chuckling softly, Sherlock put the Insomona back into the Mirror Space. Then he looked at the navigator missy nearby, who was waving a blue long staff to summon small bubbles.

"Hey, Nami."

Zap! Several bolts of lightning crashed down from a dark cloud, and a few pirates, charred black, fell while emitting smoke.

"What's wrong? Sherlock." Nami twirled the staff. After much practice, the intelligent navigator had figured out the correct way to use the Clima-Tact.

"Before the Marines arrive, you must hide inside the palace immediately. Even the Marines can't enter there casually..."

"...With my current state, I can't be of any help. Sorry, the rest is up to you guys."

Sherlock's voice grew weaker and weaker as he spoke, and after the last word, he collapsed straight down.

He really had reached his limit right now...

"Sherlock!" Nami and the others cried out in alarm, hurriedly finishing off their respective enemies and gathering around.

"Hey, hey, hey, Chopper, what's wrong with Sherlock? Wasn't he fine just a moment ago?" Usopp looked at the suddenly collapsed Warlock with a face full of panic.

Chopper examined him carefully. Seeing that Sherlock's breathing remained steady, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"He just fell asleep. It's the side effect of Insomona."

"Side effect? That forbidden drug of yours?" Sanji raised a curly eyebrow and scratched his head in annoyance. "Then how long will he sleep?"

The little reindeer shook his head and was about to answer when he was interrupted by a crisp female voice.

"Captain Smoker!!"

Hearing this familiar voice, Zoro's body instantly stiffened. This iron-blooded man, who feared neither swords nor shadows, actually felt an urge to turn and run.

"You people..."

Seeing the White Hunter lying unconscious on the ground and the Straw Hat crew surrounding him, Tashigi, unaware of the truth, decisively drew the Shigure at her waist. Her dusty face wore an extremely serious expression; she had obviously misunderstood something.

"What have you damn pirates done to Captain Smoker!!!"

Saying this, the clumsy female Marine gripped her prized sword tightly, took a deep breath, and charged forward without hesitation, like an angry lioness.

"What an unreasonable, stupid woman!"

The green-haired swordsman cursed under his breath with a bitter face. Looking at Tashigi, who looked almost exactly like Kuina, he had no choice but to brace himself and raise his sword to meet her.
