Asher woke up to blinding light.
He was in a plane of existence that seemed to stretch endlessly. He was a small dot of colour in a world that emitted nothing but white.
But Asher could not see that.
In fact, he couldn't hear anything right now. And not just his hearing none of his senses were working.
He could see nothing. He could hear nothing. He could feel nothing. He could smell nothing.
In that moment, Asher felt like he was nothing.
Suddenly, a voice broke the silence. It was smooth and calm, and hearing it filled him with warmth, like a mother's embrace.
"What should we do with him? God didn't allow him to enter the Gates of Judgment."
Another voice spoke soon after.
"Then we can only do one thing."
Why are they talking about God? Asher wondered. He couldn't see them, so he assumed they were priests or something. But this tone of speaking… it's almost as if they heard those words from God Himself.
Asher paused.
Wait… am I dead?Are they angels?
The first voice spoke again. "But we cannot do it without God's permission."
Asher waited for a reply, but it never came.
Suddenly, he was falling or at least, it felt like falling. His senses slowly began to return, though his vision remained shrouded in darkness.
After what felt like an eternity, he landed somewhere with a hard
THUD!
