A glint of understanding flashed in Naira's eyes when she heard this, 'So, he came here for her.'
She then sighed inwardly and under his anticipatory gaze, she shook her head, "I don't think so."
Max's expression fell.
"Why?" He asked.
"Because Noah had seen uncle Ben, her husband, getting caught. So, I believe that she might not have been able to escape either." explained Naira.
"I understand." said Max before walking out of the room, "I'm not leaving yet. So, be at ease and eat the bread calmly."
"Mm." Naira made a soft noise as she watched him leave. And as she did, to her puzzlement, she felt a tinge of disappointment and envy.
Then, she caught herself and shook her head.
'I'm someone he came to know just a short while ago. So, it's understandable I'm not important enough to him.' She comforted herself.
The next moment, however, she bit her lip, and thought, 'But… he did that with me… Shouldn't he care a bit more about me?'
