Chapter 23 - Rodrigo's flings

Ariana walked into the house and found her father sitting in the living room. Looking like he had expected she'd come.

"Ariana..." He said in a low tone.

"Father" she answered taking a step closer to him.

"Have a seat" he gestured at one of the couches in the living room.

Ariana carefully sat down as she studied her father's expression which looked quite confusing. He appeared angry but also looked like one who had something up his sleeve.

"I bet you've seen the news online about Rodrigo?" Mister Sterling asked.

"I have" she answered, trying not to show how much it affected her.

"Good because I don't want you to conceive the idea of calling off the wedding. Yes he cheated but when he becomes your husband I'd personally make sure he doesn't try that in the open. He's a good man, you know it. Don't let one fling break the beautiful bond you both have." the man paused to cough.

"So I've spoken with him and he's on his way right now and we'd all find a way to take those pictures off the internet" he concluded and Ariana suddenly felt a surge of hate flow through her veins but she couldn't tell if it was for Rodrigo or Mister Sterling, as she now decided to call him because she couldn't believe her own father would spout such words.

"You must be joking. Right?" She questioned.

Mister Sterling didn't have a single smile on his face so she knew perfectly well he wasn't joking but she couldn't fully accept the words he had just spoken to her.

"Do I joke with serious matters?" Mister Sterling asked and Ariana scoffed.

"You're unbelievable" Ariana said, standing up from the couch when he retorted "I'm not done talking" and she stopped in her tracks.

Mister Sterling took a deep breath and tried to act calm "Ariana, listen to dad okay? Forgive Rodrigo and everything would be fine".

"You don't seem to understand. He didn't cheat on me with just one woman" Ariana took out her phone and showed her father the picture she had taken of Rodrigo at the restaurant with the actress.

She wouldn't have known the woman was an actress till Azaiah revealed it to her. She felt bad for herself and the women Rodrigo went around with as they were all a source of entertainment and pleasure to him.

Mister Sterling's hard expression didn't break despite seeing the picture Ariana had showed him but he was in fact silenced.

"Two women! And I won't be shocked if there were more! I really can't have anything to do with Rodrigo Sanchez anymore. If you want to get him married into the family so bad, then tell Ava!" Ariana said then angrily walked away.

In her room, as she tried to fold her clothes into her bag, she felt her hands tremble as her remembered her own words "then tell Ava". She didn't mean it but it hurt knowing her father didn't care if Rodrigo was a womanizer. Also, she couldn't imagine Rodrigo loving her sister. She knew the man would hurt Ava also.

She took deep breaths and sat on the floor as several thoughts flooded her mind. She needed to leave the mansion before Rodrigo's arrival but she also needed to leave without her parents knowledge.

She thought of different ways to execute her plan but none was seeming good enough.

She packed light as she wasn't moving to her permanent personal residence yet.

She stood up and took her bag, heading towards the back door of the house which led to the pool area and a short fence behind it.

Thankfully no one was lingering in that part of the house yet, so she had time. Getting out the back door, she swallowed, wondering how she was going to jump over the fence.

She had never jumped over a table in her life but now she had to jump over a fence.

She heaved a sigh and quickly wrapped her dark burgundy colored hair into a loose bun. Luckily, she was on loose trousers so the risk of her clothes ripping was low.

She summoned courage and walked towards the fence with her bag in hand. At that point, she didn't look so different from a thief. The only thing missing was the dark colored clothes and a mask over her face.

Trying to get over the fence she noticed one of the workers coming her way and she immediately began to form an activity of cleaning the fence with her bare hand.

It was Trevor, one of the housekeepers.

"Miss Ariana are you okay?" She heard him ask behind her and she took a pause from her pointless attempt not to look suspicious and turned to him.

"Oh Trevor! I didn't notice you there and yes, I'm perfectly fine. Just cleaning the fence" she released a fake smile which the man didn't buy.

"Miss Ariana, I've been seeing the news on the internet. Are you really sure you're fine? I mean, I don't intend to pry but everyone here is worried about you. We know what happened with the company" Trevor admitted.

"Thank you all so much for caring about me and I'm sorry I haven't been acting like myself lately but there's alot on my mind. For now, I need to leave but I promise too visit you all soon." She said, hoping that the man would understand before making another failed attempt to go over the fence.

Trevor was a middle-aged man, always soft spoken and caring. When she wasn't at work or with Rodrigo, he was one person she'd sit and have healthy conversations with about life and family. Those short moments were moments she'd never forget.

"Alright then, please wait here" the man said before walking away. Ariana guessed the man had come to rid the water in the pool from any dirt as he had come with the materials needed for it but now, he had placed them on the floor as he walked away after requesting that she should wait for him.

It took about five minutes before he returned and he returned with a ladder in hand.

"Here you go young miss. I hope everything goes well with you and I hope to see you at the mansion again" Trevor said before placing the ladder at Ariana's feet, waiting for her to use it to get over the fence.

"Thank you so much. Text me when my parents aren't home, I need to get my car then" Ariana stated before mounting the ladder.
