But, although it is a dung monster, it also has its own mechanisms. It was just proven that the Guardian God has an effect, so...
Watching the eerie purple light once again emanate from the tip of Isadora's wand, William swiftly determined that this was an attack not to be resisted head-on.
Regarding the enhancement of spells by ancient magic, when teaching students like Cedric and Harry, he had also tried to deconstruct its principles himself—infusing refined magic energy into a new structure of traditional spells, causing some qualitative change to enhance or alter its purpose entirely.
This was the key to his never losing in battles of flashy duels. However, the method Isadora was employing now seemed cruder and more direct, with a reckless disregard for consequences.
That's the downside of being "untrained," it seems Lady Morgana's learning ability is average.
William's teacher spirit was itching to be unleashed, but enhancing a boss in the midst of a level was definitely not a wise move.
"It's been a while, this sense of crisis—"
William tilted his head back, relaxing his shoulders, muttering quietly. He traced a fluid arc in front of him with his wand.
Silver light surged from the tip, the scattered beams rapidly converging and taking shape before him—within a moment, an enormous shield made entirely of pure silver light materialized out of thin air—the Patronus Charm was inherently a defensive spell, though most of the time it was strongly associated with Dementors, but as William had always said—
Is magic truly such an inconvenient thing?
"Boom—"
An explosion erupted at the center of the silver shield, the dazzling light and shockwave akin to a flashbang detonating in the battlefield's center, causing the surrounding air to ripple, but all of it was kept outside the shield. William, protected within, remained unmoved, not even a hair out of place.
Then, in the next moment, William began to move.
From the beginning, he had no intention of standing there taking hits. The man's figure vanished from his spot and reappeared behind Isadora in the next instant, the silver-white light blazing, a massive, translucent, skull-shaped Guardian God rising behind him. In its hand, it wielded a silver-white longsword, cleaving down upon the woman—
What kind of Guardian God is this?
Just moments earlier, Isadora, who had barely survived being crushed by a truck, was perplexed. She had thought she already understood the extent of William's capabilities from the goblin and the Black Wizard's words, but she hadn't expected even his Guardian God to be so... exaggerated. She didn't believe that merely the enhancement of ancient magic could cause such a mutation in one's Guardian God.
However, it was of no use.
The woman's figure remained unmoving, the gray eyes devoid of any emotion. Her wand struck repeatedly, gathering Fiendfyre into a giant serpent that lunged toward the skully glow, as if swallowing the very light itself— the flame spread rapidly along the hilt of the longsword like maggots consuming bones, soon engulfing the entire skull.
William's thoughts raced, and the "Susano'o" behind him suddenly disassembled, transforming into countless silver light points, which did not dissipate but quickly reformed in the air. In the next moment, twelve laser cannons rotated and emerged from the void behind him, launching consecutive bombardments towards the Fiendfyre serpent that had lost its target.
And so, amidst the ceaseless cannon fire, the fire serpent was also thoroughly extinguished, this round of probing attacks from both sides seemingly ending in a draw.
But evidently, the battle would not stop there—
"Crucio! (The Blasting Curse!)"
The vicious curse shot forth like lightning once more, and William leaned back slightly, attempting to evade. However, the curse curved in mid-air, heading once again towards the back of his head, so a shield appeared behind William. After briefly repelling the curse, his wings fluttered, and with a clap of thunder, he appeared behind the woman—
His fists, wrapped in silver light, hammered down hard upon the back of Isadora's head.
Isadora, clearly not anticipating such an attack given her wizardly background, was caught off guard, her head directly shattered into fragments by the punch. However, in the blink of an eye, black mist began to spread, reweaving a head for the woman, while trapping William's hands, unable to retreat, within it.
Looking at his hands wedged into the back of the woman's head, William frowned slightly, exerting force with his arms, ripping her head apart down the middle.
But even so, in that brief delay, Isadora's wand had already pointed at William's heart. "Avada Kedavra!" The deadly green light suddenly burst forth, seemingly unavoidable as the Killing Curse shot towards William's chest. However, he merely retracted his form, blue-green scales covering his body in an instant—
Transforming into a Horned Serpent, William successfully evaded, at the same time, the silver-glowing horn jabbed into the woman's chest wound.
Then, the Blasting Curse, reinforced by ancient magic, detonated from the woman's wound, completely blowing her into a mass of crimson-glowing black mist.
"In that case, you are no different from Rookwood."
Reappearing mid-air, looking at Isadora reforming on the ground, William tugged at his lips, revealing a cruel smile, "What was it they said? Immortal, huh? Sorry, I don't buy it." With that, his wings fluttered once more, and the next moment, his silver-glowing hand clasped the woman's head.
"Boom—"
A "flower," raised by a Professor from a young age, grown up at Hogwarts, who even barely traveled after graduating before becoming a Professor herself, lacking duel experience to the point of failing to react to an ordinary Killing Curse, even if she had indeed gained powerful forces—
However, she now faced the nineteenth-century Savior, who in the fifth year resolved the Goblin Rebellion, in the sixth transformed the entirety of Great Britain into a poacher's forbidden zone, and in the seventh eradicated the entrenched Ashwinder, the Hogwarts 1889 exemplary student, a writer, folk singer, backpacker, golden left face...
The stalemate between the two lasted only for a moment, and upon discovering that the opponent seemed to be a "turret" merely outputting while stationary, William conceived dozens of methods to defeat her.
Giving Isadora no opportunity to speak, he once again crushed her head. The dispersing black mist attempted to escape, but William directly blocked it with the Patronus Charm. The octagonal cage of silver-white light rose from the ground, not far away, with Norbert subduing and pinning Lanlock beneath a bone dragon, began spewing flames to cheer William on—
Finally, this "boxing match" concluded with William pulverizing Isadora's head for the sixty-seventh time.
Watching the black smoke, limp on the ground and no longer stirring, William allowed his tension to relax, as if everything had finally been settled... or had it?
...Something's not right?
Perceiving something amiss, William instinctively withdrew, but simultaneously, from the pitch-black smoke, deep red chains shot out, piercing directly into William's limbs. There was no sense of pain, but a deep red glow abruptly exploded across William's field of vision.
"Come on, William Richard...let's go see the 'other side' of time, to see just what kind of 'mistake' you've brought about..."
Then, Isadora's murmur sounded in William's ears, her voice overlapping, distorting, as if countless versions of her were speaking.
In the next moment, endless, suffocating red light swallowed everything completely.
