Chapter 288 - Chapter 256: Turmoil

Su Ming and the other two had already reached Mars Square, and indeed, there were many people here.

Not only were there German Soldiers, but quite a number of Italian officers with their wives were visiting too. Fatty generals, likely older than their wives' fathers, strolled around boldly with their young wives.

Whether in the history of the real world or the current state of this world, the Italians, except for the Navy, are complete pig teammates.

Can these generals really fight wars? They probably even need help getting into their cars, right?

As Su Ming brushed past, he deftly lifted the general's wife's wallet, finding quite a few German Marks inside.

"The Warlocks didn't come after us; they... went in the opposite direction." The three paused and bought some corn to feed the pigeons from a nearby stall.

Randomly scattering corn, they observed their surroundings. Monac frowned slightly as he tried to sense something but couldn't quite understand what had happened.

The Magic Floating Cloak poked its collar out of the box, nodding up and down to affirm that what the Mage said was true.

Su Ming didn't know why, but the result was all that mattered. Perhaps the Warlocks' 'Water Exploration Stick' suddenly malfunctioned?

A gigantic Ten Thousand Character Banner hung from the Eiffel Tower, swaying in the wind. Many people were photographing it, trying to capture the Third Empire's glory.

To these people, the Allies' defeat seemed inevitable; they had a wise Supreme Leader, technology that transcended the era, and a steel-like massive army. The Third Empire's will would be unstoppable.

Enthusiasm, worship, longing, joy.

With just a glance, Su Ming could see the thoughts in their hearts reflected on their faces, and he couldn't help but chuckle.

This was the world of Superheroes, where things that seemed incredibly powerful to ordinary people were mere playthings to some entities.

He tossed a handful of corn, watching as the white pigeons gathered around, hopping over. These symbols of peace seemed unaware of the situation.

Many people couldn't have corn, but the pigeons could, though now it was the Germans feeding them.

"Cooing..." Su Ming entertained them with interest. After a week of fighting against Horror, he wanted to enjoy a moment of peace.

The pigeons tilted their heads at him briefly before returning to their pecking, leaving small white dots on the ground.

"Ahem, Deathstroke, what do we do next?"

The doctor's question brought him back to reality. Su Ming tossed the corn farther away. These dumb pigeons weren't startled at all, swarming over to fight for the food.

"Since we've come to Paris, naturally we have to climb the Eiffel Tower at least once..."

Holloway wiped his little mustache, glancing around the crowd, noting how they were surrounded by enemies. Was it really okay to visit as tourists with them?

Su Ming lowered his voice, casting his eyes to the ground, explaining briefly to the doctor: "The situation is unclear now. I need to observe the surrounding terrain, construct routes and a distribution map of buildings in my mind. What's better than a high vantage point like the Eiffel Tower?"

The Magic Floating Cloak in the box began wriggling, causing the box to make noise, strongly protesting.

Is the Eiffel Tower really that high? If Deathstroke wore me, he'd be shoulder to shoulder with the sun in no time!

Though the Nightfall Greatsword was tucked in the long box, looking like a camera tripod, a tripod wouldn't make noise.

"Stop it, you're the most useful, alright?" Su Ming patted the box to cover up the noise, noting that the Magic Floating Cloak seemed to have picked up some mischievousness from Wade.

In the week of battling Horror, the cloak participated in the fights too, hearing all of Deadpool's crazy talks.

Anyway, the current plan was to gain a vantage point, and the Eiffel Tower's top observation deck could overlook all of Paris. With a mental map, they could escape easily even if pursued again.

........

Forty-five minutes later, the three stood on the Iron Tower's observation deck. The elevator wouldn't be installed for decades, so to enjoy the beautiful city view, effort was required.

All around were voices speaking in German, marveling at the city's beauty and the nearing sunset.

Su Ming observed the city in different directions silently, recording every detail in his mind.

This place was good for ambushing enemies, three types of traps could be set here, there was a sewer entrance there... alright, Su Ming still preferred acting in the sewers, just as dark, he could rename himself Sodark.

Meanwhile, the Mage and the doctor started to focus on leisure.

No helping it, they didn't have great eyesight or memory, and they couldn't speak German, so they could only pass the time with the scenery.

Just a few minutes later, all the maps were memorized, every door on each street, the flow of people, whether there were shortcuts, all marked in Su Ming's mind.

He turned, patted the two on the shoulder, signaling with his eyes, and they reluctantly descended the tower.

They were so close to seeing the sunset, how unfortunate.

It wasn't a real problem. After the war, they could even move to Paris if they wanted. The doctor's regret was understandable, but why was Monac sighing?

He had probably watch the Eiffel Tower being built!

As the group descended the stairs, an explosion erupted in the distance, a massive flame overshadowing the sunset, followed by a thick black smoke rising.

Everyone on the tower stopped to watch, a buzz of discussion rising around.

It wasn't convenient to speak there, so Su Ming pulled the two and they ran down through the crowd.

What was happening over there needed investigation. If it was a guerrilla skirmish, it could alert enemies, complicating Su Ming's plans.

If it was an unexpected major disturbance, then Su Ming would go ahead with the third plan and add more fuel to the chaos.

The explosion was about four kilometers away. After ducking into an alley, Su Ming swiftly hot-wired a car, and the three sped towards it.

They weren't alone, as they saw many German troops heading in the same direction, witnessing more advanced tech weapons from the black-tech arsenal.

Like Hydra's Energy Tanks, monster-like six-legged guard dogs, and obviously semi-cyborg elite soldiers.

The streets were in chaos, no one noticing their little black car, allowing Su Ming to boldly blend in with the military vehicles and drive confidently toward the site.

As they got closer, gunfire became faintly audible. While not as earth-shattering as the previous explosion, a series of smaller blasts continued to ring out.

"Oh, not bad, they've managed to hold on under such overwhelming German firepower? Kind of interesting." Su Ming flicked a cigarette, lit it, and took a puff.

Does France have any Superheroes? Not that he remembered; they'd produced Super Villains, but not at this time.

Then who caused such a scene, putting Paris in its current state of heightened alert?
