Chapter 17 - Kid Mime

The Mirage Marionette curled around the wand, protecting it to prevent breaking the connection. Mightyfly silently cursed himself to forget the crucial detail. Whatever this Vainastro did to transfer the Quirk - whether or not it's temporary or permanent - a Quirk is essentially part of genetics.

Mightyfly smirked, "But I guess you don't know, Magician. A Quirk is like your limbs, they need rest after exercising. That means, you won't be able to keep up, especially if you just recently got the Quirk and was never born with it."

"Bwah! You expect me to believe that!? I feel no tiredness! I feel powerful! I'm invincible!" Magician declared before unleashing the most powerful electricity beam.

Mightyfly couldn't dodge it in time as he was sent flying, just an itch further than Sparrow. He slowly sat up while feeling paralysis from the attack. He then checks up on Sparrow worriedly, expressing relief to hear he's still alive.

"Aww! Look at that! What a real hero!" Magician said mockingly before shocking Mightyfly continuously. "You people disgust me! Why must you think about others instead of yourself!? It doesn't make sense! Us, humans, are animals fighting for survival! There's no benefit in caring about others! You can only rely on yourself and make others fear you!"

"No. That's not true." An unknown voice said.

Magician looked forward while Mightyfly slightly glanced back to see who the person was. It was Mime. He was verbally speaking, which shocked both Magician and Mightyfly. He no longer had the same expression of cowardice and uncertainty. It was replaced with annoyance and disappointment.

"If there's no benefit in caring for others, then you wouldn't be alive right now. You would've died as a baby. If there was no benefit at all, you wouldn't want a partner like dad or me." Mime looked directly at his mother's eye. "But it's true you care about yourself, but the world doesn't revolve around you. Remember, mother? You said that to me about myself."

Magician scoffed, "Look at that, my son has grown arrogant. These bad apples had a toxic influence on you" She then stared at Mightyfly and unconscious Sparrow. "Perhaps I should kill them to make you see that this world doesn't belong to heroes, only survival!"

The moment Magician unleashed another devastating magical electric beam from her hands, Mime felt his legs moving before his mind could process. He got in front of Mightyfly with his arms open. When the beam was about to reach him, he closed his eyes, accepting his death.

However, he opened his eyes as the world briefly slowed down but couldn't move, wondering what happened, until he heard the voice.

"Kid Mime. I am Mightyfly," Mightyfly introduced himself while keeping calm after thinking the kamiko wouldn't be able to reach him in time. "You burned like a bright star when you finally stood up in front of your mother. Your silence has broken, but your heroism has been awakened. Should you accept this power, you are able to express yourself around the world. Do you accept this gift?"

"I accept." Kid Mime answered verbally and with sign language.

A radiant light surrounded him as he transformed into Kid Mime. His costume clung to him like a second skin, a sleek bodysuit of deep violet and muted white flowing together with quiet elegance. The smooth fabric traced every movement, broken only by curved white panels along his chest and shoulders and a neat line of dark buttons running down the front, giving him the air of a refined performer.

A high collar framed his neck, the long sleeves and fitted lower half unadorned and precise, favoring agility over armor. It was a costume stripped of excess—minimal, theatrical, and controlled, like a mime's attire sharpened into something modern and dangerous.

When his perception went back to normal, he raised his arm as the beam was somehow blocked by an invisible barrier. Magician expressed confusion as she continuously fired as Kid Mime was struggling to hold on. And so, he mimicked an item he pulled out, removed a pin, and threw it near her. Confused, the Magician swore she heard something before an invisible explosion occurred that sent her flying.

"What the hell is going on?" Magician expressed confusion.

Kid Mime replies in sign language, "Freedom."

Kid Mime pointed his finger gun at the Magician, unloading invisible bullets while remaining smiling. Her amok, Mirage Marionette, blocked the attacks for her, leaving the wand exposed. When an illusion cast over him by the amok, he was surrounded with bright skies as he stood on water. He chuckled in amusement silently as he mimicked a bazooka, which immediately shattered the illusion out of fear.

"You idiot!" Magician once again unleashed more beams from her hands desperately, running out of items to bring to life.

Kid Mime changed his weapon into mimicking his hands holding some kind of mirror, as it reflected back to her, causing her to dodge in time but struck the Mirage Marionette. He then mimicked a lasso, tying his mother to prevent her escaping and using her hands again.

When the Mirage Marionette got back up, its head was struck by explosive boomerangs by Sparrow, who regained consciousness but had internal injuries and muscle cramps all over. Mightyfly then delivered a finishing touch by smacking the Mirage Marionette with his cane, which was sent flying into a wall. He then grabbed Magician's want from the ground and broke, as a feather with dark energy emerged. The Mirage Marionette then collapsed.

Mightyfly signaled Kid Mime to mimic a container and throw it over him as he does so. After Mightyfly caught the invisible container, he contained the feather to prevent it from targeting anyone or the Magician again.

"No!" Magician cried out as she could feel her Quirk leaving. "Wait! No! Vainastro!?"

"So the Quirk you received is tied to the amok. You will not harm anyone ever again." Mightyfly wanted to interrogate her about Vainastro and how she temporarily received a Quirk, but he knew deep down she wouldn't know anything as she's mainly focused on her greed.

Magician ignored Mightyfly as she glared at her son, "You! You betrayed me! You were supposed to be my better partner!"

Kid Mime sighed as he replied in sign language, "And I wish you were a better mother."

A few minutes later, Magician was taken in by the police. Mightyfly explained everything to the police and how Kid Mime, who he discovers his real name being Fred Haprèle Jr., had no choice but to become an assistant to the Magician out of fear. The police will escort Fred Jr. to his father and sister.

"Don't do anything in trouble." Mightyfly said teasingly.

Kid Mime was about to sign before answering verbally, "I won't."

Mightyfly chortled, "I now release from the power I gave you."

Kid Mime reverted back to normal as Kamiko went inside my cane. I then leap away into the building. I see Sparrow, unmasked, treating his wounds. I was surprised he would casually reveal his face, but then I remembered I already knew who he was.

"I don't think bandages and stitches are enough. You are suffering from internal damage." Mightyfly expressed worries.

Sebastian chuckled while groaning, "I'll be fine. Once Mrs. Tsurugi sees how injured I am, she would treat me. She may be a strict mother, but she surprisingly has health insurance for all of her employees… unlike America."

Mightyfly then stared at the new container where the amok was, "I'll take this to the Guardian. I won't tell you who that is if you ask. I better go as I'll be in my limit soon."

Sebastian nodded, "Go. We'll meet again. You made me become a superhero again, you punk."

Mightyfly let out a brief smile, "You're welcome."

He then leapt rooftops from rooftops with the container. Sebastian looked down to see the good he has done in arresting a major supervillain. He acknowledges himself being rusty as he needs to get back to his training regimen. He then receives a phone call from none other than his cousin.

Sebastian gulped, "Oh boy."

In a mysterious void, Unknown watched the whole spectacle. He witnessed Vainastro's annoyance with his first loss but calmed himself as there would be next time. He was impressed by how much Vainastro has already mastered the Quirks he has given him, same goes for how fast Izuku Midoriya mastered his Butterfly Miraculous.

"I can't wait for his development. We will meet again, Izuku Midoriya."

When he turned off the screen, he looked at the other screens where other versions of Izuku Midoriya in different multiverses, the same Midoriyas whose worlds were destroyed. One is an Assassin of some kind of brotherhood, another personally trained by a dark knight to gain a mantle of a bird, another wielding some kind of alien watch, and many more.

Unknown smirk. "I wonder… which of them would meet me first."
