Moreover, due to Kael's current proficiency in Alchemy, these items have a distance limitation. At most, they can be used in the United Kingdom; any further, they're just scrap metal.
However, he didn't mention this, and Ms. Bones didn't know.
As mentioned before, Ms. Bones might be excellent in other fields, but in Alchemy... she's really lacking.
This is also the drawback of Hogwarts' education. Alchemy is such an important subject, yet they don't even offer it as an elective. In Beauxbatons, the priority of Alchemy Classes is almost on par with the main courses.
Ms. Bones lowered her head in thought for a moment.
"I must remind you that this is to deal with You-Know-Who and the Death Eaters."
It seemed she thought reasoning wouldn't work, so Ms. Bones opted for a different approach... climbing up the moral high ground.
"I know, which is why I said we could write an IOU." Anticipating this turn of events, Kael calmly replied, "You can use them first and pay back slowly after everything is over. I still trust Ms. Bones' integrity."
Ms. Bones' eye twitched, unsure whether to be pleased or not.
"Perhaps we can choose another way." She said in a steady voice, "How about treating this as your achievement? When you return to work at the Ministry of Magic, it could count as your contribution, and even promote you to the Vice Minister position without issue.
"As you know, Dolores was tortured thrice with the Crucio Curse by the Death Eaters, suffering severe mental trauma, and has been comatose at St Mungo's. The Ministry of Magic happens to be short of a Vice Minister."
"Wait..." Kael turned his attention to the tempting offer Ms. Bones was presenting, and asked, "The Crucio Curse... I thought it was twice?"
"One wasn't announced." Ms. Bones sighed, "On the day Fudge was killed, didn't many people get sent to St Mungo's for treatment?"
"Indeed, I was there that day too." Kael said, "But what does that have to do with this?"
"Let me finish." Ms. Bones continued, "One person was under the Imperio from Death Eaters, and during his treatment, he suddenly attacked, using the Crucio Curse on Dolores who shared the same ward."
"For what purpose..." Kael was a bit puzzled, "Attacking St Mungo's, how could the Death Eaters be so sure they wouldn't get hurt?"
In the British Magical Realm, St Mungo's had always been a neutral place. Regardless of how fiercely the Death Eaters, Order of Phoenix, or the Ministry of Magic fought, they consciously avoided that place.
St Mungo's never questioned the identity of those coming in; they would heal injured Aurors and they would heal Death Eaters alike.
It became a mutually accepted practice, as everyone wished to leave themselves an option.
Even a decade ago, when Voldemort's power was at its peak, Death Eaters only surveilled St Mungo's, never attempting control.
Kael even suspected that Voldemort's Resurrection Potion might have come from St Mungo's... of course, it was just a suspicion, and he believed Professor Cecily wouldn't hand over such a thing to Voldemort.
"Eventually, the Aurors concluded it was merely a misunderstanding." Ms. Bones said, "The Death Eater under the Imperio perhaps wanted to create trouble, ordered to attack others during the rescue to stir chaos, but he wasn't aware he'd been taken to St Mungo's.
"Similarly, two people in the Ministry suddenly attacked, but they were quickly contained, whereas at St Mungo's... uh... the Healers were quite busy that day."
Ms. Bones' gaze wandered slightly.
"So, it was just Umbridge's bad luck?"
"That's correct." Ms. Bones nodded, "Remember to keep it confidential; don't tell others; we need voices that can boost morale now."
"I understand." Kael agreed.
"So, what's your decision?" Ms. Bones asked, "Are you interested in this Vice Minister position?"
"Can I do it now?"
"We still need to observe for a while longer." Ms. Bones said, "The Vice Minister position is of great importance, not something I can decide with a few words."
"Then I'll take the Galleons instead." Kael decisively dismissed the enticing offer.
"But the Ministry of Magic doesn't have that much money, and even if it did, it wouldn't spend it all on a few communication devices."
"You can write an IOU, you know."
After going around in circles, things returned to the original point.
