Ministry of Magic, Level One, Minister's Office.
Kael knocked on the door, and a voice from Bones came from inside.
"Come in."
Compared to when Fudge was here, the Minister's office has become much more simplified. The elaborate and finely crafted rowan desk was gone, replaced by a very ordinary table.
The material and style were the same as those used in other offices, the only difference being that it was much larger.
There was no other choice, if the desk was smaller, it wouldn't be able to hold those mountains of documents and materials.
Upon hearing footsteps, Bones instinctively looked up.
"Kael? Didn't expect to see you." She said, "So, are you planning to come back to work?"
"It might take some more time." Kael said, "I'm here this time because of this."
Saying that, he placed a button, a Galleon, and a Sickle on the table.
"What is this?"
"Communication devices suitable for Aurors." Kael said.
"You reminded me, I almost forgot. Scrimgeour came to me about this just last week." Bones rubbed her temples, "There's been too much going on recently, but your Communication Parchment has already been put to use, and the feedback from the department has been very positive."
"That's good."
"So why are there three?" Bones looked at the items on the table, "The button and the Galleon seem much more convenient than the parchment, are you asking me to choose one?"
"No, all three are for use." Kael pointed to the Galleon and Sickle and said: "These work the same as the parchment. As long as the correct command is uttered, conversation can happen between the person with the Sickle and the one holding the Galleon.
"The Sickle is for the Aurors on the field, there are many, but there are only two Galleons, prepared for the Minister and Scrimgeour... But if needed, I can make more, it's just that the Anti-Spying Magic Text within is quite complex, taking about three to five days."
"What anti-spying spells are on them?" Bones asked earnestly.
"Many." Kael thought, "Command Magic, Tracking Magic, Contract Magic, Name Magic, Sound Magic... In short, once the user is determined, it cannot be changed, and no one else can use it."
"It has a good confidentiality effect." Bones nodded, "And their function?"
"Each Sickle has a number. The Galleon can communicate with all the Sickles, but a Sickle can only contact the Galleon and cannot contact another Sickle."
"Oh, that's quite something." Bones said. She weighed the Galleon in her hand, then curiously asked, "Are these real? They shouldn't be."
"Of course not." Kael shook his head, "Real Galleons and Sickles have specific Goblin Magic on them, I can't mimic that, this is Transfiguration Technique.
I think this kind of thing is pretty common, and even if someone sees it, they won't think it's used for communication."
"Not bad, and this one?" Bones shifted her gaze to the button beside it.
"This... can be considered a Magic Power signal." Kael pondered on how to explain, "The button can transform, becoming a brooch or Auror badge, and then be sewn onto a collar.
"Under normal circumstances, when Aurors use the Communication Coin, to hear clearly, it should be within three feet of their chest, within this range, the Magic Power signal keeps the call smooth."
"What if it's exceeded?"
"Then you'd hear noise."
"It has such a limitation?" Bones frowned, her satisfaction level suddenly dropped.
Though a three-foot distance wouldn't affect normal use, it still seemed a bit cumbersome with its restriction.
"No, it's not a restriction, it's a safeguard." Kael shook his finger.
"We can think of it in another way, if you hear noise, it means the Communication Coin has been taken away."
Bones' head jerked up, she instantly understood Kael's meaning.
"You mean, this button can confirm whether a comrade is holding the... hmm, Communication Coin."
"Exactly, though it's not absolute, it should work in most situations." Kael said with a smile, "But there's one precondition, the button must be kept a secret from the Aurors, as long as they don't know, the Death Eater spies wouldn't know we have such a safeguard."
"A perfect plan..." Bones tapped the table with her fingers, deciding without much thought: "Just right, the Aurors don't have anything to confirm identity yet, though it didn't seem necessary before, now it's perfect to use... let's go with a badge, uniformly issued by the Ministry of Magic."
"Actually, I think a work ID would work too, it must be worn to enter and exit the Ministry of Magic."
"But we've already set up Name Magic and a Revealing Mirror at the entrance, isn't adding a work ID redundant?"
"To confuse the audience." Kael explained: "Everyone wears one, only Aurors have something special, so it won't raise suspicion, anyhow, making these isn't hard, one or two hours would suffice."
"Very thorough."
"The only issue is if the Ministry of Magic approves."
"You don't need to worry about that, I can immediately issue a notice, and get it fully implemented before the end of the day." Bones looked up, her eyes full of appreciation as she gazed at Kael, "Are you sure you don't want to come back to work? I could give you a raise."
"I scare easily." Kael replied with a smile, declining her suggestion.
"Alright, understandable." Bones didn't say more, she glanced at the small objects on the table and suddenly laughed: "I heard from Susan before, she mentioned that the most at home, was the business you and your little group were doing at Hogwarts."
