Chapter 486 - Chapter 484: Fidelius Charm

Fortunately, Diana's gaze did not linger on Kael for long but directly moved to Peter Pettigrew beside her.

"Is it him?"

"Yes." Dumbledore nodded, "After that, I'll have to trouble you, Diana. I believe you can give the innocent a truth."

"I will do my best... if he truly is the traitor who betrayed Lily." Diana said softly, "But we'll have to wait a little longer, I'm missing an important tool... oh, they're here."

As she spoke, she turned to look outside the door.

Two more wizards wearing the same black cloaks walked in from outside, in front of them was a floating, square water tank.

The tank was filled with dark green liquid, looking no bigger than a suitcase, as if it could be lifted with a single hand, but the two brought it in with difficulty.

Not only were their hands holding wands trembling, but a fine layer of sweat covered their foreheads.

Some young staff saw this scene and couldn't help but murmur inwardly.

Getting so exhausted transporting something this small, is that the standard of the Department of Mysteries' Unspeakables? Any Hogwarts student above third year could do better.

Unfortunately, no one explained anything to them.

The two slowly walked to Peter Pettigrew, cautiously placing the tank on the ground.

With a dull thud, it sounded as if someone had thrown a heavy explosion charm in the room; evidently, the item's weight didn't match its size at all.

"It's really not easy..." One of them wiped his sweat, panting, "The usage time is thirty minutes, should be enough."

"Plenty." Diana said, "Thank you, Bode, Crook."

"It's nothing." Crook, with blond hair, waved, "Honestly, I'm also a Gryffindor alumnus, and I was just a year apart from Lily. She was truly a good girl, such a pity..."

He sighed, unsure if he lamented her being killed by Voldemort or regretted she eventually married James Potter... or both.

After the two stepped aside, Diana wasted no time, drawing her wand and lightly tapping the tank.

The calm surface of the tank suddenly rippled, as if something was slowly floating up from the dark green liquid.

Kael couldn't help but lean forward.

Finally, a white object emerged.

It looked like a brain but was attached to many long tentacles... resembling a brain-like jellyfish.

"That's... something from the Department of Mysteries' Brain Room." Someone couldn't help but speak, "I saw it when I delivered documents there before..."

Crouch frowned, just about to speak, when Dumbledore stepped forward.

"I think everyone is eager to know the truth; this is the most effective method."

He bowed slightly, "Memories can be forged, but the soul can never lie... As a First Class Order of Merlin recipient, Hogwarts Headmaster, and Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, I assure you all."

The Trial Room was silent.

After a long moment, Fudge finally reacted, tapping a hammer on the table, "I can vouch for it too."

"As can I," Ms. Bones added.

Within the Ministry of Magic, anyone holding a position of Department Head or higher knew something about the secrets of the Department of Mysteries, including the function of the Brain Room.

But for certain reasons, they couldn't reveal these secrets in any form, nor could they be probed.

"Now, let's vote on whether to allow the Unspeakables to examine Peter Pettigrew's soul." Fudge tapped the hammer again.

"I approve." He raised his hand first, followed by Ms. Bones.

More and more wizards on the platform raised their hands in agreement, quickly surpassing more than half, and by a great margin.

For some, the reason for agreeing to send Peter Pettigrew to St Mungo's was merely to ensure his memory remained intact and to get the truth.

Now, with a better option, they certainly wouldn't oppose it.

As for people like Crouch and Crook, their silence had become irrelevant.

"Sixty-seven in agreement," Ms. Bones stated. "Then, please proceed."

Diana nodded, using her wand to guide the jellyfish-like brain to float above Peter Pettigrew's head.

Everyone held their breath, watching her every move intently.

Even within the Ministry of Magic, few had ever witnessed an Unspeakable perform this special magic, they were all very curious.

Especially as this thing from the Brain Room was related to the soul...

Yet, at that moment, a deep blue mist materialized out of thin air, enveloping Diana and instantly obscuring everyone's view.

"What happened..."

"What's going on..."

The Trial Room immediately erupted in chaos, some even drew their wands, attempting to dispel the blue mist.

"Calm down, everyone." Unspeakable Crook stepped forward to speak.

"This is normal, to prevent interference from abnormal magic and other factors... I believe everyone understands, as it involves the soul, any slight error could have very serious consequences, this is just a precaution."

"Then how do we know what's happening!" someone asked coldly.

"That's nothing to worry about." Crook pointed at the tank in front, "You just need to watch here."

At this point, someone noticed a long tentacle extending from the mist, connecting to the tank.

The dark green liquid was gradually replaced by a sky-blue mist, making the tank look very much like a large crystal ball.

The mist slowly rotated, capturing everyone's attention.

Kael also fixed his eyes on the tank.

After a few minutes, something else appeared amidst the blue mist.

Peter Pettigrew appeared in the scene within the tank, looking much younger than now, bowing reverently on the ground.

Yet the other person in the scene made everyone gasp.

Even after twelve years, they couldn't forget that person's appearance, pale face, snake-like scarlet eyes.

Voldemort!

The surrounding sounded with gulps.

Thankfully, the scene didn't last long.

It seemed as if someone stirred the image composed of mist with a wand, and when it reassembled, Voldemort had disappeared.

In his place was a string of golden words.

"I... Peter Pettigrew... voluntarily conceal Potter's Cottage at No. 17, Godric's Hollow within my soul... and vow to keep the secret… sealed lips and tongue."
