Chapter 817 - Chapter 66: Imaginary Power

Lin held his spear, watching the swarming Honkai Beasts with a cold gaze.

Above him, the battle between the Herrscher and the Valkyrie continued, the shockwaves kicking up gale-force winds.

He could feel the hot blood flowing from the back of his head into his collar, but strangely, he felt no discomfort. Seeing the Honkai Beasts that wanted to crush him, the tightness in his chest vanished, replaced by an unspeakable... impulse.

Like a primal instinct etched into his biology, it surged out violently.

Just as the Honkai Beasts were about to pounce, a scythe spun in from the distance, accurately piercing the head of a Chariot-class Honkai Beast.

A butterfly emitting a faint light gripped the scythe, looking like a reaper dancing among the Honkai Beasts. Every swing of the scythe took a life.

Seeing Lin was heavily injured, Rita could no longer stay put and had come to support him.

But just as she pinned a Knight-class Honkai Beast to the ground, a blurred black shadow slammed into her shoulder, lunging at the Honkai Beasts with a glowing golden spear.

"Mr. Lin!" Her shoulder ached, and she stumbled, but she had no time to worry about that. She watched in shock as his silhouette eagerly plunged into the swarm.

Einstein, who was observing the data from a distance to plan a counter-strategy, also widened her eyes. She stared unblinkingly at the screen of her electronic binoculars.

The man's silver hair instantly changed color as it was stained by pinkish-purple blood. His body lowered until he was nearly crawling on the ground. The corners of his mouth stretched wide, baring his teeth like a maddened beast.

Lin leapt up, pouncing directly onto a Honkai Beast with a movement he never would have used before. He drove a spear through its core, then jumped off, kicking the end of the spear. The weapon viciously tore through the creature's body before skewering another beast behind it.

Schwing!

Another spear automatically ejected from the Oath of Judah and landed in his hand. He lowered his head, dodging the lance of a Templar-class Honkai Beast that carried a stench of blood.

Growl...

A low, inhuman growl escaped his throat. He spun back excitedly and kicked the joint of the Templar's lance to shove it aside, then turned into a cold blade, flickering behind the beast's shield. He gave a casual flick of his wrist.

Snap!

The limb acting as a shield was severed from the beast's body, hitting the ground with a heavy thud.

Roar!!

The Templar-class Honkai Beast let out a heart-wrenching scream, but a second later—

Squelch!

Holding the spear with both hands, warm blood flowing through the gaps of his fingers, Lin pinned the beast firmly beneath his feet until its massive, twitching eye lost its light.

Lin pressed his hand against the hard shell and pulled the spear out, the spurting blood spraying across his face.

His expression remained unchanged, but his hands were trembling slightly.

He had never realized that regaining his sense of color could be so wonderful.

Seeing that pinkish-purple blood flowing from the lifeless meat gave him a sense of peace and exhilaration.

He grabbed the wing of a Knight-class Honkai Beast, his palm being sliced into several bloody gashes. He threw it at his feet and stepped on one wing, then stabbed his spear into the other side, pulling with all his might—

Rip—

The beast's internal organs and blood spilled from its torn body.

Lin plunged toward the next Honkai Beast without a moment's hesitation!

Einstein swallowed hard. She covered one of her eyes, shocked by the bloody scene.

That was not how Lin usually behaved. He valued efficiency and conservation of energy; he would never choose such a bloodthirsty, bestial style of fighting, nor would he torture his enemies.

Had the Herrscher Core inside him started functioning again?

Regardless, the current Lin was as dangerous as a Honkai Beast. They had to stay away from him.

The battle in the sky raged on. Bianca was forcing her way through the bombardment of spears. She wasn't injured, but she couldn't get close to the Herrscher of Void. The myriad of portals made her defense difficult, and those spears would lock down the surrounding space when they exploded, leaving her unable to dodge—only to defend.

The Herrscher of Void snapped her fingers. A pinkish-purple portal stood before her, and a torrent of Honkai energy with a ten-meter radius erupted. A phantom holding a shield appeared in front of Bianca to block the strike, as the scattered Honkai energy turned into particles that danced in the air.

Now!

The moment the Herrscher launched that attack, Bianca had her strategy ready. The shielding phantom blocked the attack while also obscuring the Herrscher's vision. The propulsion wings of her armor roared, and her speed hit its maximum in an instant. The next moment, she appeared directly above the Herrscher!

The knight's sword swung down with the power to split mountains and seas!

Clang!

However, the sword struck a light-blue, diamond-shaped barrier.

Bianca gritted her teeth and increased her strength, attempting to break through this barrier made of imaginary power.

The essence of the Herrscher of Void's power was the manipulation of imaginary energy and the transformation of imaginary space. This energy was entirely under her control—the white spears, the portals, the torrents of Honkai energy, the giant transparent hands, and this barrier were all manifestations of her control over imaginary energy.

And there were other uses.

Two portals opened to Bianca's upper-left and upper-right. This time, what emerged were not spears or energy torrents, but two purple rectangular prisms!

Unable to dodge in time, the prisms struck Bianca.

The expected impact didn't occur; the prisms passed directly through her body. They had no physical form, but just as they crossed to envelop her, the Herrscher of Void made a crushing motion with her hand from a distance!

The prisms solidified into a firm physical state, trapping Bianca within. Then, two white ribbon-like objects shot out from a portal, spiraling together into a single spear. Its terrifying piercing power sent it straight through the solidified prism!

Crack!

Bianca flew out from the shattered imaginary prism, blood spilling from the corner of her mouth. She had blocked the strike at the last second, but she was still injured—a horrific wound had been pierced through her side.

Faced with Bianca's injury, the Herrscher of Void showed no joy. She simply spread her hands coldly once more. Countless portals surrounded Bianca in a circle.

Boom!

Innumerable prisms shot out from within. Not a single gap could be seen from any direction. After completely enveloping Bianca, the prisms solidified, forming a massive purple sphere suspended in the air.

The Herrscher of Void placed her hands at her sides. A purple-black energy body composed of imaginary power appeared in her palms. She fired the sphere with a calm expression.

There was no sound. Space itself was torn apart in that moment.

The sphere transformed into two wide ribbons of imaginary energy, then spiraled into a lance. Pitch-black particles scattered from its tip, instantly expanding to hundreds of meters. Everywhere it passed, it left behind rift-like wounds!

And the sphere that had trapped Bianca was pierced and obliterated by that sky-blotting imaginary lance.

A battered figure lost its blazing blue wings and, like a bird with broken wings, fell straight toward the ground.
