Chapter 10 Part 2: Anna's Awakening

With the deafening roar, the space ceased to exist.

Only a silver-white longsword pierced through the void and vanished into the sky.

Outside

Amy and Ellie seemed to feel something tears slid down unbidden.

They knew

The two most important people in their lives were gone.

The world-devouring witch was annihilated.

The world's order returned to normal.

To erase the witch's lingering impacts, the world-consciousness having regained its authority began repairs.

First diminish people's memory of the witch.

This world did not need a witch.

Or rather she had been too scared by the witch traumatized.

When the witch was born, half of her had been devoured. She had only managed to seize the witch's kind thought and set it to cycle normally then fallen into slumber.

Until Anna and Lu Fei drove the witch to the brink she seized the chance to reclaim her power.

In a mysterious space, white radiance formed into a little white-haired girl.

She lifted her hand

Two orbs of light appeared look closely Lu Fei and Anna's faces were inside.

Their souls.

Lu Fei had bet right.

How could saving the world come without boons?

To these two who had saved her, the white-haired loli naturally would give due reward.

White light flowed into the two orbs

Bestowing her boon she then waved lightly.

The two orbs streaked down into the world.

New life began.

…

In a haze, Lu Fei opened his eyes.

Good grief.

He had reincarnated again.

And at eighteen, he'd only regained his memories after getting beaten up.

The world-consciousness was a bit stingy.

Couldn't the great me have started cultivating from the womb?

Emmm his ability was the same as before.

Explosion magic.

But… there was something extra.

Oh a message from the world-consciousness.

"For the life-saving grace given me by you and Anna, I accept the debt. As reward, I grant you new lives."

"Of course, due to certain irresistible constraints, you must reach adulthood before regaining memories."

"Mm I also left you each a small gift. Find them yourselves. May you find each other and live happily."

I must say she had a sweet tongue.

As for the "little gift," he'd leave that aside back to the point.

Lu Fei's identity still a villager.

Emmm but worse: no parents, an orphan.

To survive to eighteen, he'd lived by petty theft.

Two days ago, he'd filched a noble lady's belongings caught by guards and thoroughly beaten.

Even now, his face was bruised.

Speechless.

To think a good man like Lu Fei would end up living by theft.

All the fault of his circumstances.

An orphan no parents no support.

To survive what choices were there?

"Sigh. Hope Sister Anna's life is better at least a noble lady, please."

"I saved the world and I'm still this miserable. No justice!"

But this wasn't so bad.

He wasn't ready to call anyone 'Father' or 'Mother.'

An orphan was fine.

He was in a place called Karn Village.

A poor village under a noble's domain.

The people here were very poor.

Lu Fei's "home" strictly speaking wasn't a house. Just a little hut from abandoned bricks like a doghouse.

No choice.

Before his memories returned, he couldn't use magic and couldn't cultivate.

He had scraped money together to pay for a mana appraisal awakening only to find he had no mana.

Truly wretched.

"World-consciousness don't let me see you, or I'll bend you over my knee and spank you!"

"This backstory too tragic!"

"Who's bad-mouthing me? Oh it's you. Never mind then."

A soft, loli-like voice tickled his ear Lu Fei blinked.

"You're the world-consciousness? Damn you can reach me? Then can you reach Sister Anna?"

"I can. But wouldn't finding her yourself be more satisfying? A secret she's a noble's precious daughter now."

"Damn! Double standards why am I the orphan start?"

"Uh, well… I had originally placed you in the queen's belly but they found you had no mana and thought such a child too shameful. They discarded you and declared the prince dead. Thanks to me, you survived."

"…"

Why did this plot feel familiar?

Not the point.

"Damn!"

"Since you saw my crisis why not find someone kind to adopt me? Do you even know how I lived these eighteen years?"

"I tried but when they discovered you had no mana they discarded you again."

"So you can't give me a little mana attribute?"

"Regretfully the explosion magic you wield carries the law of destruction your soul transformed with it. Even I can't grant you other attributes because you're already omnialigned only all those attributes automatically fused into explosion magic."

Hearing this, Lu Fei was speechless.

So it was because he was special?

"I don't care I want compensation!"

He threw a little tantrum.

"All right, all right you'll have it."

A chime sounded in his mind a panel appeared before him.

"Ding congratulations, host Skill acquired: Appraisal."

"This is crafted from world-origin its true name is the Eye of Truth. It allows you to view information of any object or living thing in this world."

"You can use it to find your Sister Anna. Compensation accepted?"

"Can. Absolutely! I'm very satisfied!"

He smiled at last.

"By the way a reminder. This world is now a thousand years on. Magic has developed the world order has changed."

"As for specifics I won't say more. Observe for yourself. Later call me anytime if needed."

"…"

"So I'm like a divine envoy now?"

The world-consciousness this world's sovereign wasn't so different from a god.

Likely she wouldn't meddle in human affairs casually.

At least only when beneficial to the world.

Well no point overthinking.

First rebuild his mana.

Also the world's changes needed careful exploration.

Thanks to that crazy witch he'd barely traveled with Sister Anna only grinding high-intensity commissions, subjugating beasts, growing strong.

Now at last, a chance.

First pick up explosion magic again.

I, Lu Fei will present explosion magic's splendor to this beautiful world!

Cultivation began.

Lu Fei sat cross-legged in his hut.

At his mind's touch, elemental forces rushed into him.

Being all-attribute, every mote of light competed to enter his body

Fusing into his special explosive mana.

Moreover

Elemental power seeped into his every part into his cells fortifying his body.

Between a mortal and an extraordinary earth and sky.

Those guards he'd once faced he could pound them into the ground now.

Granted he had been in the wrong for stealing.

Under mana's miracle, his bruises healed rapidly.

Like a fish gasping for water

Lu Fei's body drank in elements like a funnel converting them to the purest mana.

Unnoticed

Noon had come.

His stomach growled.

He ended cultivation.

He flexed now roughly at a level-3 adventurer's bodily strength.

Of course that referred to his body.

Explosion magic was a separate matter.

Explosion magic, for him more mana in more damage out.

To return to the level-8 peak would still require some time to let mana settle.

Still a boon.

Having once broken through and saved the world level caps no longer applied to him.

To reach level 9 or even the legendary level 10 he didn't need to slay beasts of the corresponding level.

He need only cultivate explosion back into destruction magic seize the law of destruction and everything would follow.

Leaving the slums, Lu Fei headed for the nearby forest

Where beasts often roamed

And a lake lay.

To fill his stomach, he decided to return to an old trade blast-fishing.

A while later

Full and satisfied, Lu Fei looked at his ragged clothes and holey shoes and facepalmed.

Too miserable!

And his backstory worse still.

Originally a nation's prince.

Discarded because no mana was detected.

Finally someone was willing to adopt him

Then tossed again upon finding he had no mana.

People's hearts were rotten.

All mere snobs.

Forget it no brooding.

Time to earn money.

With a level-3 body and explosion magic he could fight level-5 beasts.

If mana sufficed he could blow up level 6 even 7.

Explosion magic invincible!

He acted at once

Heading deeper into the forest.

He would harvest beast parts and herbs sell them to the guild.

A thousand years on, the adventurers' guild still stood.

Soon

Lu Fei encountered a level-4 Striped-Horn Tiger.

A beast the size of a small cart shaped like a tiger with a spiraled horn gleaming deadly.

Its claws were bright with cold.

The horn, claws, and fangs were all superb weapon materials.

"Roar !"

Seeing Lu Fei the beast's green eyes flared its body crouched then it lunged

Seeing him as prey eager to snap the two-leg's neck and feast.

"Come on eat my Explosion Magic!"

"Explosion!"

A crimson burst slammed into the beast's head erupting searing heat and shockwaves engulfed it.

Having once grasped destruction magic his explosive mana was now very pure thus the crimson color and the invisibility "rule" was gone.

Meaning no more assassin tricks only a forthright master of explosions.

But enough digression back to it.

Struck bang the tiger wailed twitched and died.

First kill success.

Lu Fei smiled.
