Chapter 497 - Chapter 152: The Weight of the Crown, and Upheaval! (2)

"Little guy, you need to make friends with the Fantastic Beasts you like, right?" Newt Scamander tried to pull Ian onto his side to preserve the Fantastic Beasts in his suitcase.

"That's exactly right, no doubt about it." Ian thought that in his current situation, it wouldn't be easy to take care of any Fantastic Beasts. His Dementor alone was enough to keep most Fantastic Beasts on edge all day long, not to mention the Black-robed Skeleton that had an extremely strong oppressive power over all Fantastic Beasts except Unicorns.

It's already quite a feat to figure out these two creatures.

"Why are you so stingy? The little wizard is much more generous than you." Tina rolled her eyes at her husband, her somewhat complaining tone making Newt Scamander quite embarrassed.

He quite agreed with his wife's words, so after hesitating for a moment, he turned around and asked the young wizard in a probing manner.

"I have an injured baby Thunderbird here. Its family died in an illegal hunting operation by poachers. Maybe, once it recovers, you can help me raise it."

"Of course, that's only if you're willing." Newt Scamander's suggestion was unexpected for Ian, as the elderly man's suitcase actually had a Thunderbird.

Even if it was an injured baby Thunderbird, it was still an incredibly dangerous Fantastic Beast, typically found only in North America as a super-large bird species.

Some scholars believe the Thunderbird is closely related to the Phoenix, although this view isn't widely accepted, as it possesses a powerful magical lineage that allows it to control lightning during flight.

Ordinary wizards can hardly resist it.

Most countries prohibit the illegal importation of such birds, though Ian thought that for Newt Scamander, the Ministry of Magic's bans might not be as binding as Hogwarts' school regulations.

"Oh, that's great news!" Ian's look of surprise was genuine; he truly felt delighted and surprised from the heart.

It's a Thunderbird, after all!

Its tail feathers are valuable for being used as wand cores, granting powerful wands that are difficult to master but are well-suited for Transformation Techniques. Due to the Thunderbird's sensitivity to supernatural dangers, it's said that wands made from its feathers can anticipate and fire spells first.

Absolutely.

Ian wasn't concerned about the characteristics of a wand made from Thunderbird tail feathers; he was more interested in figuring out how to cheaply create a wand that could bring down prices.

"Come the start of next term, you'll bring your suitcase along to meet that little friend..." Newt Scamander smiled, sensing Ian's genuine thrill.

"Dumbledore says you're a violator of school rules; I don't think you're far off from breaching the regulation concerning raising a Level 4X Fantastic Beast. Just remember, you'll need to release it when the Thunderbird grows up."

"Although the Thunderbird isn't as aggressively dangerous as a Level 5X Fantastic Beast, any Level 4X Fantastic Beast still surpasses ninety-five percent of wizards when it comes to strength."

"You definitely wouldn't want to witness how savage a Thunderbird can become during mating season..." Newt Scamander spoke with a hint of apprehension in his voice.

"What a coincidence!"

Ian suddenly clapped his hands.

"Did you think the same thing as me?"

Newt Scamander spoke excitedly.

However.

The young wizard's next words made Newt's expression freeze.

"I happen to be stronger than ninety-five percent of wizards, so raising a Thunderbird will be no problem for me." Ian deemed his response to be quite modest.

"..."

"..."

"..."

However.

Regardless of whether it was Newt Scamander, his wife, or sister-in-law, upon hearing Ian's reply, their expressions became somewhat amusing.

Newt Scamander couldn't help but feel some regret, seeing the young wizard's eager expression—was he really looking forward to a fight with the Thunderbird once it grew up?

"Really, Mr. Scamander, believe me, I can definitely raise the Thunderbird well." Worried that Newt might change his mind, Ian immediately patted his chest in assurance.

He wanted to pull out some books related to Fantastic Beasts from his money bag to prove his theoretical knowledge, but upon opening the bag, he found only three books: "Fantastic Beasts in the Pot," "Fantastic Beasts in the Stomach," and "Fantastic Beasts Nutrition Guide."

"..."

Ian quickly closed his money bag, feeling relieved for the magical protection he cast on it, ensuring only he could see its contents.

Truth be told.

This series of books wasn't really his fault; they were merely Christmas gifts he received, and he couldn't quite understand why those Ravenclaw students thought he'd enjoy them.

"I'm particularly good at brewing potions; the Thunderbird will certainly grow healthy." Ian promoted himself from a different angle, as he indeed had deep expertise in Magic Potion.

And.

Just as he mentioned raising the Thunderbird.

The young wizard was already thinking of how to concoct a potion that wouldn't harm the Thunderbird but would help it shed and regrow feathers. Wasn't this, too, a display of potion-making prowess?
