Chapter 514 - Chapter 157: Why Did We Fail?

The golden bell swayed slightly in the air, but there was no clapper in the middle of the bell.

Delaine pointed with his magic wand, and the crystal bottle floating in the air shattered, the golden powder swept towards Moro.

Moro instinctively held his breath, shielding his eyes with the back of his hand, then watched the scattered gold powder converge towards the bell hanging on his wrist, even forming a small vortex in the air.

He shook his arm a few times, the gold powder swayed in the air, and soon was all absorbed by the bell.

"Antoine, does your body feel uncomfortable?" Delaine asked.

Moro moved his arm and shoulder, saying, "No, everything's fine, I don't feel confused at all."

Grindelwald flicked his fingers, causing the empty chair beside him to roll to the center of the room.

"Destroy it," he said.

Moro pointed his wand at the chair, "Confringo!"

The spell hit the target, wood pieces exploded, and there was even a rush of hot air bursting out.

"No difference from before," Moro said affirmatively, "That gold powder really didn't affect me—I thought mysterious magic would be trickier!"

"The stronger it is, the more fragile," Grindelwald said, "Time magic is indeed terrifying, but once condensed into powder, a small container can limit it."

"But one is not enough. Vid, Vorvillet, I need more... uh, does this thing have a name?" Grindelwald asked.

"Dust Absorbing Bell," Vorvillet said proudly, "Vid named it."

"Oh."

Grindelwald looked at Vid disdainfully, "It's really on the same level as your Communication Pea. A work is like a child to an alchemist, how can you name it so casually?"

Vid said nonchalantly, "Isn't it better to be simple and understandable? As soon as you hear it, you know what it's for."

Grindelwald sighed, thought for a moment, and said, "Xyvantys... let's call it this. I need at least a hundred and eighty of them, how long will it take you to prepare?"

"A hundred and eighty..." Vorvillet estimated the progress of the two, "About two days."

A mature alchemist can simultaneously mold multiple sets of materials; one alchemist is equivalent to a small factory.

Vorvillet also has several apprentices who can complete some basic work, like material refining and shaping.

Two days' time, this is considering the efficiency under normal rest, in fact, it could be faster.

"Then three days later, we will take the next action. Vid Gray..." Grindelwald looked at the young wizard, "Get ready, you're participating this time."

"Ugh…"

Returning to the Alchemy Room, Vorvillet sighed for the third time, his worried look made even Vid, who didn't plan to speak, uncomfortable.

"It's okay, don't worry," Vid comforted him, "Last time Mr. Grindelwald kept me by his side, no one was safer than I was."

"I'm not worried about that, if Gellert doesn't want to, he definitely won't let anything happen to you... I'm worried about..."

Vorvillet didn't continue, sighed a long breath.

Vid knew what he was troubled about, but he couldn't influence Grindelwald's thoughts, so he could only pretend not to know.

Last time Grindelwald took him out, he was just a safe observer. But this time… it won't be that easy.

He hasn't celebrated his fourteenth birthday yet, at this age whether he's going to the battlefield or killing, or just facing such cruel scenes, even Vorvillet as a Dark Wizard thinks it's too early.

The night descended, the two briefly tidied up the Alchemy Room, then went to eat.

The house-elves had already delivered dinner to the table, though it couldn't compare to the feast at Hogwarts, even a simple salad seemed more delicious.

While eating, Vorvillet still looked worried, spearing a piece of tomato, imagining blood flowing; picking up a grilled chicken fillet, he envisioned live people being roasted into charcoal.

Such scenes he's seen many times, but this time is different.

In every imagined picture, beside it there's a pale-faced, trembling Vid, forced by the terrifying Dark Lord to raise his wand.

Before finishing dinner, Vorvillet abruptly stood up, shouting, "No! Can't do this!"

Vid was startled by him, blinking in confusion.

Then he watched Vorvillet quickly dive into his bedroom, rummaging through drawers, pulling out a... Soft Light Badge?

This was another creation of Vid's, able to add a layer of magic beauty filter in natural environments, making appearances more pleasing, its effectiveness brief was its only flaw, always selling well, even among the Witch Pure Party.

—What is Vorvillet doing with that?

Vid puzzled, watched the old man delightedly hold the badge out, saying:

"Looks familiar, right? Young people love beauty, no matter who wears such a badge, it won't seem strange. Even an old guy like me couldn't resist buying a few."

He personally pinned the badge on Vid's chest, adjusted his clothes, and whispered:

"I made a small modification to this badge, now it's a portkey leading to the castle. If… if Gellert troubles you, just come back immediately."

"Don't worry about them bothering you afterward, I'm here! Whatever Gellert asks, just say it was all my idea… I have that kind of face..."
