Chapter 517 - Chapter 158: Gray, the Mastermind Behind the Scenes? (Part 2)

Delaine looked at his sovereign like a lost lamb and whispered, "Then... establishing a wizard-led global order... the Witch Pure Party's ideals... for the greater good... Are these all to be abandoned?"

"Abandon? No... we just need to find a new path that, though winding and tortuous, will certainly lead to the goal."

Grindelwald patted Delaine's head and said:

"Do not learn from me, blindly resorting to extreme violence; nor from Dumbledore, fearing sacrifice and imprisoned by so-called morals and laws."

"Then... what should we do?" Delaine asked, "What should I do?"

Grindelwald said, "Be the one who brings light to the darkness, who brings hope to despair. Learn to bring benefit to most people, rather than death. Learn to solve problems, not create them."

"You cannot put down the magic wand, but you must always stand on the side of reason and right."

"Gunter, take a look at those recent videos in the Flow Mirror... how the footage should be edited is up to Vid, right? Though he's young, he's long understood these principles."

"That child understands both wizards and Muggles, and most importantly has a clear mind, adept at learning from the past without being confined to simple White Magic or Dark Magic. Communicate with him more, listen to his opinions, you'll learn a lot."

"Dumbledore truly taught him well..."

Grindelwald said, feeling wistful, with deep fatigue showing on his face.

Seeing this, Delaine, despite his mind being a whirlwind of thoughts, arranged for Grindelwald to rest well.

Leaving Grindelwald's bedroom, Delaine walked along the empty corridor and suddenly realized that, although Grindelwald had said so much, he had never mentioned the real purpose of bringing Vid along.

But no matter how one looks at it, it certainly isn't to forcibly pull that young wizard onto the Witch Pure Party's ship, nor to threaten him not to tamper with those bells.

What should he discuss with that child... Alchemy? Or video editing techniques?

Distressed and uneasy, Delaine found it impossible to calm down and think.

Grindelwald's narrative almost negated his own life, as well as Delaine's decades of pursuit and ideals, leaving him momentarily unsure of his direction.

Unknowingly, Delaine walked into the hall, where he saw about a dozen people—some drunk and not returning to their rooms, others still gathered by the fireplace chatting quietly.

Delaine leaned against the curtains, observing those people, suddenly realizing something.

Compared to when the Witch Pure Party first gathered, more people took off their hoods voluntarily, more smiles appeared on faces.

There were a few witches helping everyone with their clothing, Delaine remembered they used to look tense and spoke little.

The kind of expression subtly revealing fear, as if surrounded by monsters ready to eat you.

But now, they surrounded two wizards involved in the action, busy with needlework while listening to them recount their experience breaking through the Muggle soldiers' blockade and rescuing a few Muggle children almost drained of blood, occasionally exclaiming in amazement, naturally showing sympathy, indignation, and admiration.

The injuries of those two wizards should have healed long ago, yet they remained bandaged, proudly boasting about how they taught those Muggle merchants and aristocrats a lesson, greeted with applause from their companions.

Of course, some wizards at other tables jeered, but they pretended not to hear, even prouder.

This relaxed and natural atmosphere was completely different from Delaine's original expectation of solemnity, progress, and excitement.

Just like when holding a banquet, Mr. Grindelwald did not have the hall arranged with a few long tables, with everyone sitting according to their status, toasting together to emphasize the goals and slogans of the Witch Pure Party, but rather turned it into something resembling a small street tavern.

Suddenly, Delaine seemed to understand what Grindelwald meant by his words.

Cruel rulership would cause your own companions to break apart; but with justice, salvation, honor, and mission attached, even without repeated ideological reinforcement, it could gather more hearts.

Vid Gray... though young, why does Mr. Grindelwald believe he can understand these?

...

Vid did not know Grindelwald had promoted him among his close subordinates, only finding that Delaine began appearing frequently around him, looking at him always with a scrutinizing, observing gaze.

Not malicious, but enough to make one feel uneasy.

Two days flew by, and after completing the last batch of Xyvantys Bells, Vid stretched, seeing it was still early, he decided to return to his room to read a book for a while.

Yesterday, Vid stumbled upon a book of magic notes on the bookshelf, containing several advanced spells, including the powerful Fire Shield Protection.

He recalls the spectacular scene where the blue gas stove burned in Paris in the movie, and in the last activity, Vid also saw how Grindelwald, through that spell, led the not-so-mature new generation of the Witch Pure Party, suppressing the Muggle firepower.

Vid did not delve into why this book appeared on his bookshelf, simply memorizing each line, internally pondering repeatedly.

If he could "hunt" books of this quality from the bookshelf every day, Vid thought he really didn't want to return to school for a while.
